As the roots wrapping around his body squeezed his body with all their might. Myles heard the sound of his bones cracking signaling they were breaking.
Myles feared that if this kept up, his bones might turn to dust. Hence, killing him in the process. However, despite the odds being against him, he never let go of his sword on his right hand.
Knowing that his sword was his only way of survival. If he loses it, then he would certainly die since he won't have any way of breaking free.
"I need to break free otherwise I will die, ahahaha….." Myles thought to himself, his voice carrying despair.
He was clearly in pain as the roots kept squeezing like a fruit to extract its juice.
Nonetheless he tried to use his sword to break free but the roots had immobilized him to such an extent that it made it impossible to gain enough momentum to deal any real damage.
His second option was to use all his strength. So he exerted all his strength he had to break free or at least resist the squeezing of the roots.
But everything was all for naught since the strength of the roots were just way too strong!!
Myles kept roaring in pain as all of his tries failed to bore any fruit. As he was roaring in pain, he saw from the corner of his eyes. A woman covered in red armor circling around the roots which has held him tightly.
The woman was inflicting swift and powerful sword slash at the root with incredible accuracy and precision. It didn't take him long to realize her identity.
"She is the Commander of the red hawks! Maybe she will save me?" Myles remarked, his voice carrying hope.
The woman could also choose not to help him. After all, she didn't owe anything to him. It was quite the opposite. So he just hoped for the best.
Thankfully, she wasn't as cold hearted as he thought. Just a mere second later, he saw large chunks of the roots falling off from various spots of the root. In fact the root had been cut in half. This caused the roots to lose all of its strength. Causing it to stop squeezing him
Using this as an opportunity, Myles exerted all of his strength. Breaking the roots wrapping around his body in an instant.
"Thanks a lot, commander of the red hawks!" Myles thanked her.
"Focus on landing safely and attacking the mage!!" Commander of the red hawks replied.
Myles nodded his head in approval and looked below him. Anyone who was below him was moving away from the place.
Because large chunks of roots were falling to the ground at an incredible speed. If the chunks managed to fall upon them with incredible speed, well they would die or at least be seriously injured.
"I won't have to worry about mages launching an all out attack at me" Myles thought to himself.
The mages below him were busy saving their own life. So it was unlikely for them to attack him for some time.
Nonetheless, he focused on landing safely on the ground. As he kept falling to the ground, he channeled mana at the tip of his feet in preparation of landing.
A few seconds later, he landed on the ground with a loud thud. The impact caused a shunder to run throughout his body while producing a minor shockwave.
He looked below him and saw that the ground had cracked. Producing a small crater in the process.
He diverted his attention to the mages. What I saw caused him to smile slightly.
"As expected, they are not attacking me right away" Myles heaved a sigh of relief.
Just as he had expected, the mages had temporarily ceased attacking him. Afterall, with death looming above their heads will they sacrifice themselves to inflict almost no damage to him or will he save themselves. The choice was pretty clear.
It was a huge relief to him. Since he was in a lot of pain since he was seriously injured.
Considering that a lot of his bones had been cracked, it was given that he would be in pain.
But the problem was much worse than enduring the pain. It was the fact that he had hit the physical limit of his body.
He judged that he won't be able to utilize more than 60 percent of true strength and speed.
However, he knew that he must continue to move forward despite the pain.
"I need to keep moving," Myles's thought to himself.
Being on the move was a must. Afterall, the more he stayed still, the higher his chance of death was.
Furthermore, if he didn't assist the others in defeating the woman. The chances of their victory will decrease and the morale of his troops will hit rock bottom.
"I can allow this to happen!!" Myles roared.
This was unacceptable to him! This will certainly lead him to failing his trail! Hence, no matter what he couldn't allow this to happen!
With a single roar, he began to move forward towards the woman at an incredible speed. The moment he began his charge, the two large roots followed closely behind him as fast as possible!
This wasn't the end since dozens if not hundreds of mutated grass began to follow closely behind him! The mutated grass was pointed at the edge. The edge was covered in a green liquid which Myles deemed as a venom.
The length of the mutated grass didn't seem to have any limit as they kept charging towards him without any signs of snapping!!
Thankfully, they weren't moving fast enough to overtake him. Despite being in pain and his speed dropping by 40 percent, they weren't even close to matching his speed.
Knowing that these roots and mutated vines didn't pose a threat to him, he diverted his attention in front of him.
As he charged forward, the sounds of chunks of roots falling to the ground resounded through his ears.
Wherever, the chunks of the roots fell, they dealt colossal damage to those beneath it. It didn't matter if they were mages or part of the union.
The same fate awaiting those below. That fate was none other than death itself. It also affected those nearby, since a small earthquake was produced near the area of the fall.
This caused both mages and members of the union to scatter across the battlefield. The members of the union were doing a good job at regrouping their respective troops because of the presence of numerous Grade-B swordsmen.
But the mages lacked this area severely. They had little to no grade: B mages available. Without a proper commander who could lead their troop, the mages remained separated.
The presence of peak Grade: A mage didn't make that much of a difference in this area. Since, she was busy inflicting as much damage to the union as she could.
She didn't even bother to organize her troops. It was as if she believed that she could take care of everything herself.
"Hehehehe, nonetheless this situation is very good for us" Myles thought to himself as he charged forward.
He killed any mages that stood in his path without showing any mercy. The scattered mages didn't possess even a bit of threat to Myles even in his weakened threat!
As Myles kept charging forward, he tried to answer the second question.
"What is my belief? Huh. After going through my ordeals earlier. This has become a very simple question for me to answer" Myles thought to himself.
Myles closed his eyes and fell in deep thought. He opened his eyes just a second later, the look in his eyes looked a little different.
"My sword will be as lethal as the strongest poison to my enemy but will be as friendly as a loyal friend to my allies" Myles said from the bottom of his heart.
At that moment, his aura seemed to be a qualitative transformation.
