"Well then! That means you are useless to me?" Magnus's foot pressed even harder on the man's neck, making him feel a fracture. His face was slammed into the grass, and this time Magnus swung the club lower with great strength. "And I am not fond of keeping useless things around me!" A piercing scream erupted from the man's throat, and then everything went silent. The blades of grass were now washed with red as his eye exploded and his head split open.
"Dig him a spot somewhere around here, but be sure not to disturb the previous bodies," Magnus said, tossing the club down on the bloody body. "Get his family this time. They might be interested in speaking." Magnus added tiredly, ripping off the gloves he wore one by one and tossing them to the men around him.
"Master!! Kiera has called," one of the men beside him said, holding the phone to his chest. Magnus frowned and gave him a cold look.
"Does he know about this?"
"No, Master, no one has told him about this yet," the man replied.
"Hmm, good. Hand me the phone." Magnus's mouth held a bitter aftertaste from the scene just now. He took the phone to his ear and spoke. "What is it? Any news?"
"How is the task going? Did you complete it?" Magnus questioned.
"Yes!" Kiera responded, his breath still thick. "The Hellhounds have been taken care of. They are willing to submit 40% of their revenue to us. Their leader has also sworn his men to us so we can use them whenever we need them," he reported.
"Any news about Orion's men? Did they make a move yet?" Magnus asked.
"Nothing!"
"Hmm– I wonder what he is waiting for?" Pursing his lips, he added, "Just keep your eyes open for any unusual activity."
"Yes, Master." Kiera nodded respectfully, even though Magnus couldn't see him through the phone's speaker. He didn't end the call like usual, so Magnus asked, "Is there something else you wanted to report?"
"Master! The boy has caused some injuries to Argon," Kiera said, trying to make it sound as harmless as possible, almost as if trying to defend him. Magnus's eyebrows lifted with surprise, eyebrows that didn't even flinch when he killed the man just now.
"How come?"
"I am not sure entirely, but according to the latest news, Argon is unconscious."
"Hah!" An uncontrolled laugh came out of Magnus's mouth. "That is interesting. Where is he now?"
"Argon took him to his apartment," Kiera replied, slightly concerned.
"Oh well! That boy did manage to get close to him. I guess after all he is not that useless," Magnus said, rubbing his earlobe slightly.
"Yes, it seems like that," Kiera replied, his tone going dimmer. "Keep an eye on him; don't let him escape. Keep someone at his side at all times."
"Yes."
"Okay, then you can rest for the night. No need to wait for me." He said, ending the call and tossing the phone back to the man who was holding the umbrella. "I want this incident kept hidden from Kiera. No one is going to tell him about this. Do I make myself clear?!"
"Yes, boss."
On the other hand, Kiera ended the call and placed his phone back in his pocket, his hand shaky as blood dripped out of it. His arm was deeply injured by what seemed like a knife's cut. He breathed heavily and looked around the room that was full of wounded men lying around in pain. The leader of the Hellhounds lay flipped over his chair, bleeding from his head.
On the other side of the city, Leo knelt beside Argon's unconscious body, checking his breathing every few seconds while anxiously awaiting Kiera's response to her text. "What do I do? He wouldn't die, would he?" she wondered, genuinely concerned. Finally making a decision, she glanced around the house to locate his room, which was easily found.
"Okay, now I have to get him to bed and let him wake up naturally," she thought, just as Chess crossed her path, making her hair stand on end. "Stop! Don't come near me! All this happened because of you!" She scolded the cat, which immediately sat on its hind legs, watching her closely. "Yes, just like that, sit and don't follow me!" she instructed, maintaining a safe distance as she approached Argon, grabbed his legs, and awkwardly manoeuvred him through the kitchen before dragging him toward his room. "God!!! I'm dead!" she exclaimed, her back nearly breaking under the strain. Collapsing onto the bed while Argon remained on the floor, she gasped, "Hah! I thought I was going to die! Why is he so heavy?!" she desperately tried to catch her breath. The bed was soft, blush t , It even smelled nice.
She wanted to lie there and relax since Argon wasn't awake to stop her, but another annoyance disrupted her peace: the irritating ringtone from the living room. At first, she ignored it, but the persistent ringing started to itch at her ears, forcing her to get up, sidestep Argon's body by the bed, and walk out of the room. Her breath remained thick and heavy as she grabbed the phone and glanced at the caller ID.
"Headache," she read, narrowing her eyes. "He doesn't seem like someone who would give people petty names." She pouted and ended the call, turning to leave, but the phone rang again immediately. The caller was persistent. She picked it up and ended it once more, only for it to ring again.
"What's wrong with this person?" she hissed, picking up the phone and holding it to her ear, only to be met with a furious voice on the other end.
"How could you do this? You ended my call twice? What is this? What kind of behaviour is this?" The voice screamed, causing Leo to pull the phone away from her ear, feeling the ringing echo in her head after the shrill voice.
"God!" Her eyes blinked uncontrollably. "I'm going deaf after hearing that!" Her heart raced as she spoke.
"Who was that?" The woman seemed to have caught on to Leo's presence instantly.
