Alex as well as Jordan, and Aurora left the school after the class; luckily for them, Aurora and Alex didn't have any remaining classes, while Jordan only had one more, but it was at night. They walked to the diner that Aurora works at and sat down at a booth.
Alex: Didn't you say your sister was coming here as well?
Jordan: Yeah, she's a bit behind. Apparently, she wanted to ask her teacher some questions.
Aurora: She's more studious than Jordan, as you can tell.
Jordan: Hey, I'm here to play football and not much else.
Aurora: That's pretty obvious.
Alex: So, should we get some drinks?
Aurora waved her hand at a waitress who walked over to ask for their order. Alex and Jordan asked for cokes while Aurora got a lemon-lime drink and got water for Jordan's sister.
Aurora: So, Alex, I never asked why you moved here. Besides liking the peace and quiet.
Alex: Well...that's a bit of a long and honestly deep conversation.
Aurora: Oh, sorry if I said something I shouldn't have.
Alex: It's not like that; let's just say I had to get away from my family for awhile. This place offered me a fresh start.
Aurora: That's good; sometimes that's just what you need.
Alex: Exactly.
Jordan: I think my sister is here now.
Alex and Aurora looked towards the entrance, only to be shocked by who walked in. It was Mina, the girl who sat next to Alex during history class.
Mina: Oh!
Jordan: Hey, sis!
Aurora: Hey Mina...is everything okay?
Alex: Hey, Mina.
Mina: Hey Alex! So you met Jordan and Aurora?
Jordan: Do you two know each other?
Alex: We have the same history class.
Aurora: So you met our entire social group on your first day of school? Talk about fate.
Alex: Technically, I met all of you in the same three-day span.
Jordan: Right...wow.
Mina: So how is everyone?
Aurora: We're good; I got you some water.
Mina: Thanks! I'm thirsty...and hungry.
Jordan: So, sis, how was your first day?
Mina: It was interesting to say the least; I met Alex here, of course, and also, piano class went great.
Alex: There's a class just for piano?
Mina: Yeah, it's taught by someone who once was in a classical music group, so she knows a lot of stuff about playing. I picked her brain a bit for advice.
Aurora: Did it help?
Mina: I still have to try some things out, but I really think she'll help me get even better!
Alex: I'm excited to hear it.
Mina: *blushes* T-Thanks.
Jordan: ...Anyway, I think it's time we get our food.
Aurora: Right!
Everyone gave the waitress their order; Alex got the same thing he did previously; Mina ordered half a reuben sandwich and shared it with Aurora; and Jordan ordered some chicken wings. Jordan also had the great idea of ordering a large basket of fries for everyone to share.
Jordan: I swear the chef never misses with his food!
Aurora: He's a master of his craft.
Mina: Agreed.
Jordan: Hey Alex, where do you live?
Alex: I live alone in an apartment nearby. Why?
Jordan: Just curious; maybe we could stop by at some point.
Alex: That's fine; just message me first.
Jordan: For that, we would need your number.
Alex: Fair point.
Alex and the others all shared their numbers and put their names on the contact lists. Mina blushed a little bit when she gave Alex her number, but he didn't really take notice of it.
Jordan: Now that makes things easier, hey, I'll make a group chat!
Aurora: Good idea!
Alex smiled upon hearing this before he continued eating.
Alex: This is normal... I'm finally living a normal life.
After they finished their meals and paid the check, they all went their separate ways, with Alex returning to his house.
Alex returned to his apartment and smiled as he looked at his contact list. His phone now went from only one contact to four. Aurora, Jordan, Mina...and Lena.
Alex: I wonder how everyone back home is doing...
*In another location*
In a large throne room, there was one man sitting on a throne. He had short black hair and dark blood-red eyes. His presence alone would be enough to make you shake with fear. Meanwhile, there was a girl kneeling below the throne. She had long silver hair and light blue eyes.
???: Lena, tell me, have you heard from Alex?
Lena: N-No...we haven't spoken since he left.
???: So you still don't know where he is?
Lena: No, your grace...
???: Maybe I should send Faye; she would get him back.
Lena: That's not necessary, your grace. I promise, we are doing everything we can to find him.
???: You have two weeks. Find him and bring him back home, no matter what.
Lena: I-I understand.
???: Good, I will not accept failure. You are dismissed.
Lena: Yes, your grace.
Lena stood up and walked out of the long throne room. Once she walked through the main doors, she was met by someone leaning against the wall.
???: So, I guess he chewed you out, huh? How much time did we get?
Lena turned around and saw the boy.
Lena: Issen, you really have to stop this eavesdropping habit of yours.
Issen: It's how I learn things; I heard some of it but not all of it.
Lena: In short, we have two weeks to find him and bring him back—or he'll send Faye.
Issen: Shit...
Lena: Are we getting any closer?
Issen: We're narrowing down the possibilities. Although I did hear something interesting over the wire.
Lena: What?
Issen: In some small town called Redfall, apparently a common vampire was killed.
Lena: That's not that unusual-
Issen: According to the report, it was done by a vampire with blue eyes.
Lena: ...Follow up on that lead and report back with any information; we have to find him before Violet or Faye get sent out to find him.
Issen: Yeah...Violet would probably kick his ass, but Faye...just thinking about it makes me shiver.
Lena: Exactly; we have to move quickly.
Issen: I'll get moving.
Lena: Thanks.
Lena looked outside the window in the hallway and sighed.
Lena: Alex...please be okay.
