Chapter 8 - chapter 9

After what Angela said, Quen had wanted to push on the conversation. He wanted to know more, the reason behind the pain and darkness in his doll's eyes but when his eyes met Brena's and warned him not push on,  he decided to let it go for now. Cause there was no way he would leave it. Not when he realized how much he loved her.

They continued their chat, but only God knew where Angela's mind were. She praised God for giving her a talkative best friend to help in situations like that. And she was grateful to Brena for her help. She knew it wasn't easy for her, too, being at the same place with someone who betrayed you and forced to smile and chat with him like everything was normal. She knew it was hard for Brena, but she was strong, much stronger than her. She was making a sacrifice for her. She tried to concentrate on the present and give them a smile, laughing whenever they said something funny but her mind couldn't help drifting in the past. Back two years ago.those memories still hurt like it happened yesterday. Now and then she caught Quen checking on her and she gave him an assuring smile. She continued drinking nonstop, hoping to erase the memories at the moment.

" Come on, Angela, it's time to go home." Brena pleaded her to stand up. She drank the whole bottle by herself and now she was trying to lift another glass but Quen snatched it from her. She frowned and raised her head to face Brena, who was already up.

" Why don't we stay a little longer. You know it's still early, " she said in her drunkard state and gave Brena a begging smile.

" Early! It's 2pm, for goodness sake. Your dad will kill me if he sees you like this, " she said, trying to get her up.

" My dad? James? Is he here?"angela asked as she fought to stabilize herself on the ground and glanced over Quen's direction. " Is it him?" She asked, pointing at Quen. both Brena and Danny chuckled, and Angela turned to them, confused.

Quen put his hands on his hips and gave her an annoyed look." Really, Angela, do I look that old in your eyes?".

Angela stared at him intently as if she saw him the first time before again she frowned." No, I think you look like that cocky prince of l_ group." Both Brena and Danny burst out laughing. They couldn't hold it any longer, and Angela found herself laughing along with them. Quen's frustration only grew more.

" You know what, guys, it's better if we get her home." Brena said, trying in vain to hold her continued laughter.

Angela tried to move and tripped over, but Quen was quick to catch her before she fell."  You guys go, I will take her home," he said, still steading her to the ground.

" Ok. Text me when you get her home, " Brena said and handed him Angela's bag.

" I'll escort you home,"Danny offered, and Brena groaned in fury. Just because she had spent time with doesn't mean they are okay. The only reason she didn't slap him on the face when she saw him was because of Angela. She didn't want to embarrass her.

" Really now?"she raised a brow at him and crossed her arms over her chest.

" You know me," he answered, seriously mimicking her posture.

" Suit yourself," she said, realizing that nothing she could do to change his mind. She turned to Angela and then to Quen. " Take care of her," she said and left. Danny nodded at Quen and followed Brena.

Quen helped Angela to move together, they headed to the parking lot.

" Wait, who are you and where are you taking me?". Angela suddenly halted as they reached the car.

" My goodness, Angela, does your mind and eyes become blind when you are drunk. Don't you know who I am?".

He said, and  he tightened his grip on her as she was about to fall.

She raised her head and put her hands on his chest  to steady herself and stared at Quen." Oh, it's you. But when did you get here, i thought I left you inside. "

Quen shocked his head and rubbed his forehead. This was becoming so stressful. " You know what, get in the car."

"What if I don't?" She challenged.

" Then I will leave you here and see what happens to you at this late hour." He said his usual serious tone returning.

"So cruel. Can't you be gentle? " she frowned, and Quen smirked and pulled her closer to him, then whispered.

" Look, sweetheart, I'm being too much gentle now, so if You Don't  want me to pick you up and seat you in the car, u better get in."

" Screw you." She cursed and yanked herself from him, opened the car door, and hopped in.

Quen rubbed his forehead before walking to the other side and entering. He tightened her seatbelt and shut the engine, then drove off.

The whole journey to Collins, Angela was asleep. Quen took her phone, used her finger to open it and searched for Alan's number, and dialled it. He dialled twice before he could answer.

" Hey sis, what's up. why call me this late? " Sleepy Alan asked over the phone.

" This is Quen, Angela is drunk, so I'm bringing her home."

" Oh. How long will it take you to reach here?" He asked his voice now a little a wake.

" We will arrive in ten minutes."

" Okay, text me when you arrive." Alan said, and Quen hung up.

He stopped the car in front of Angela's house and hopped out of the car, then went to the other side, opened the door to reveal a peaceful sleeping Angela. He leaned over to wake her but stopped in a truck. His eyes eager to memorize the beauty before him. His eyes travelled from her long lashes perfectly covering her big eyes and then stopped to her pink lips, which were slightly opened in a cute, attractive way. He so bad wanted to taste them, to feel them moving with his. He leaned closer and rubbed his index finger on them, feeling the softness and warmth they sent into him. Increasing the feeling of kissing her but stopped himself remembering the situation she was in. He shouldn't take advantage of her. He told himself. He shocked his head to dismiss the earlier thought and bit his lip to cut the attraction.

" You look beautiful when you are a sleep," he said as he caressed her forehead. Her eyes opened, and she was surprised to see Quen before her.

" What are you doing?"she asked in weak soft voice. She was struggling to keep her eyes open. She yawned and roamed her eyes around as if she didn't know where she was.

" Let's go home ,okay?" Quen said softly, caressing her cheeks. He helped her out of the car and led her to the house. Alan opened for them. He asked Alan to get her a glass of milk.

" Okay, take her upstairs. Second room to the right, " Alan said and went to the kitchen to get the milk.

Quen led her upstairs and opened her room. It wasn't too much decorated, just painted white, dark red curtains hanging on the window, giving the room a homely environment. Two Teddy bears on the bed. A large pink sofa stood on the left corner of the room. He entered and sat her on the bed, removed her shoes, and turned around to go when she held his hand.

" Where are you going? You aren't going to leave me here, right?"she asked and pouted. Quen was sure that never in his life did he meet a cute girl like her. But he was also surprised. What's wrong with her.

" This is your room," Quen said, a look of confusion on his face.

" My room? I'm not staying here alone, " she asked and jumped off the bed Still holding his hand.

" Look Angela, you are at your home, and I need to go too," he tried to persuade her. He knew she was drunk, but what he didn't understand is why she was acting like that as if she didn't feel safe anymore.

" I told you there is no way I'm staying here alone," she said in a determined tone. She looked like her life depended on staying with him. For example, if he leaves him, something bad will happen to her.

" Look, you drunk too much...." He was cut in by Alan opening the door with a glass of milk.

" Nice timing. Come and take care of you, sister. " he removed her hand and walked toward the door, but Angela was quick to follow him. Quen turned and sighed. this wasn't what he expected to happen to night.

" Okay, I'm not leaving," he said, looking at her childish face. He held her hand , led her back to the bed, and sat her on the bed." Give the glass." Alan handed it to him. " Drink this and go to sleep." he put the glass on her mouth and made her drink it.

" You aren't leaving me too, right?" She asked pain evident in her eyes. Begging him to stay. She was scared that he would leave him too. Like everyone else.

" No. I'm not just going to sleep, " he said, caressing her cheeks and covered her with a dover and sat beside her on the bed holding her hand. She reluctantly closed her eyes and drifted into a tight  sleep. He stared at her, and a feeling of pity rose in him. He knew that what she said before was because of alcohol but he was sure it was connected to whatever happened to her in the past.

What really happened??....
