What the hell was happening? Was he going to kiss her?. Angela thought and realized that he perhaps was. But did she want it? Well, she wasn't against it, too. Then, if she can't avoid it, she better not see it coming.
So she closed her eyes....
" Hey sis, are you okay?" Alan asked, startling them. They quickly turned to him, and Angela bit her lip in embarrassment. What the hell was she thinking. How can she think that Quen would kiss her. She definitely deserved a slap for that. Quen helped her stand on her two feet. Angela tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and mumbled a shy thanks. Before turning to Alan.
" Yeah, I'm okay. Luckily, Quen was around," she chuckled.
" I'll get going then," Alan said and left after an assuring nod from Angela.
Angela looked up and caught Quen staring at her, and they both turned to look anywhere but each other's direction. Really now? Being shy?.
They took a step to go but found themselves blocking each other's way. They stared at each other and burst into a soft laughter.
" What the hell are we doing?" Angela asked, still laughing in amusement.
" Okay, you go first," she added.
" No. Lady's first " Quen offered, gesturing her a way.
" Okay," she smiled and left.
Quen stood there and watched her figure leaving, and a smile found its way on his lips again.
" This is not you, man," he told himself and followed her direction.
The party went on, none seemed to have noticed that small incident, and if they did, may be they chose to ignore it. The event seemed to be successful since many potential investors have already agreed to work with them. Quen was talking to some business allies when she noticed Angela sitting alone sipping her wine. Again, he couldn't take his eyes off her. She was always outstanding and gorgeous in whatever she does and this time wasn't an exception either. He excused himself and went toward her table.
" Hey," he whispered while taking a seat beside her. Angela turned and smiled, raising a glass of wine at him.
" Why are you sitting here alone?" He asked while pouring wine in glass for himself.
" Umm, I got bored with all the business talks and decided why not enjoy my wine here," she answered .
" You should have asked me to accompany you," Quen said, staring at her with emotions Angela couldn't decipher. Their eyes locked for a moment before a little boy's voice brought them back to their trace.
" Daddy," he called his father. they seemed to be leaving, and the father was holding his son's little hand in his. The boy pointed to his shoes. His shoe laces were untied. the father bent down on one knee in front of his son and tied his lace.
" They are so cute," Angela said more like to herself but loud enough for Quen to hear.
" Yeah, they are," he answered back his eyes also focused on father and the son who was now leaving.
" You like kids ?" Angela asked amused by how his eyes showed adoration for them.
" I believe so. Since I spent the longest time with AJ when she was a kid and never harmed her. " Angela almost laughed at his stupid answer. He should have just said yes if he does like kids.
She smiled, looking at him." You should get married then." Quen turned his gaze to her before returning again to face the front.
" Come to think of it, you never mentioned anything about having a girlfriend." Quen turned to her, and she raised a questioning brow.
" Mind being one?"he asked in a husky seductive voice that Angela could swear her heart skipped a beat. She stared at him, shock and confusion written all over her face. She tried to say something, but her tongue seemed to have forgotten how to move.
Quen smiled." You look like you've seen a ghost. I'm joking silly, " he said and turned to face the front again.
A soft laughter of relief left Angela's lips. She put her hand on her chest dramatically and slapped Quen's shoulder with another.
" That was the most scaring joke ever,"
" Why? am I that scary?" He asked, feigning hurt.
" No. It's just uummh wait don't change the topic. " she pointed a finger at him, and Quen smiled at her cuteness.
" I got many," he answered with a shrug.
" You are lying. You are not a playboy type, " she said before sipping on her wine.
" Well, I'm not interested in girls," he said indifferently. Angela was more than surprised.
A moment of silence passed before Angela decided to break it.
" That's rare," she said, facing the wiggling glass of wine in her hand.
" What's rare ?" Quen asked clueless of what she was talking about.
" For a hot and rich guy like you," Quen grinned. Oh, I know that grin. Angela rolled her eyes, and Quen's grin only widened. She just complimented him. Angela decided to let it go and continued.
" Yeah, for you not be interested in women. There are many women who would die to be in your bed. For example, look at that girl. " Quen followed her eyes and saw a blond girl passing by swaying her hips excessively, but that wasn't all. she smiled seductively when Quen gazed at her. Angela rolled eyes." She passed here more than times I can count hoping to get your attention but poor thing, you didn't even spare her a glance."
Quen chuckled. He moved his head closer to her and to her ear. Angela flinched inside but stayed composed outside.
"Maybe I can't see them because my eyes are only set on one girl," he whispered and moved back to stare at her face. She blinked twice in shock, which made Quen chuckle at her cuteness. She averted her gaze from him, picked her glass of wine, and gulped down whatever was left in one shot.
" This is really shocking. Now you are confusing me. You just said you are not interested in girls, yet a girl already captured your heart. " she looked at him again, moving a little closer.
" But let's leave that aside, may I know the girl?" She asked with a lot of curiosity. Quen was surprised. He never thought Angela could be a gossip type, and he smiled at that.
" You don't need to," he answered with a smirk.
" Come on. I can even advise her on how to bear with you cause maybe you don't know but not everyone can be able to deal with you. "
" Oh, now I'm offended," he faked a hurt expression.
" Just tell me. Your secret is safe with me, you know, " she said pleadingly.
" Oh really!" He was amused by her persistence. " I'll tell you then."
Angela grinned widely like a little girl whose parents promised to buy for her, a whole ice cream stall.
Now she was going to be honered to know who the doomed girl was. An image of a serious, cold faced Quen with a short petite girl looking like she could cry anytime played in her mind. What a pitiful creature, huh huh.
