" Oh really!" He smirked. " I'll tell you then." He lowered his head right to her ear and whispered.
" In your dreams," he rose up and left her in complete aw.
" Screw you Quen," she shouted after him.
Alan was arranging his tools since his job there was done, and AJ was helping him. They stayed together for the whole night so they were getting used to each other.
" I never thought you like paintings." AJ was more than surprised when Alan told her that he went to galleries whenever he was having difficulties in composing a song. She always thought his world revolved around music only.
"Well, my sister was a best painter herself so I find myself liking it too. Too bad I can't paint though". He said the last sentence with a short laughter.
" Angela is painter?" She exclaimed. This was amazing. What a talented family. Their mom was also a best artist, though she used pencil unlike them. She owns the most popular gallery in the city.
" She used to do it but suddenly stopped. Don't know why, " he shrugged." But I told her it was a stupid idea to leave her dreams. Speaking of paintings, that one you recently published was awesome that I wanted to get an autograph, " he grinned.
AJ smiled. " Really! What stopped you?".
" I don't know. You seemed to be a serious girl. Lost guts to approach you. You can say I was a little afraid. "
AJ found herself laughing uncontrollably. This guy was really interesting. How could he say he was afraid of her. A mere Beaverton student who possibly everyone thought to be a freak.
"You the deity of the school afraid of me. That's nonsense, " she said, pointing her middle finger at her chest before slowly shaking her head.
Alan smiled at the compliment and went on to answer her.
" I was afraid that your boyfriend would take it the wrong way." He was truly afraid of her back then, but it wasn't the only reason he didn't ask her out cause he wasn't the type to chicken out in front of his crush. One day he decided to ask her out after school. he waited for her at her last classroom but she came out in a rush almost running. He tried to catch up on her, but she was really quick and to his disappointment when he reached the parking lot. He found her hugging a mascular big guy who looked two years older to him. Never in his life has he become so weak. At that moment, he felt like he lost everything. He almost cried right there, which he did later in his room. He even skipped rehearsal with his band for a week.
" Boy friend? I don't have a boyfriend, " she said, both surprised and confused.
" What about the big Spanish guy who often comes to pick you up at school?" He asked, a little surprised but also delighted.
AJ laughed." Oh, you mean him. He is my cousin, mine and his father are siblings. " Now Alan was overjoyed. He wanted to jump and hug the life out her but managed to control his feelings into a genuine big smile. He approached closer and stopped right before her.
" Does that mean that I stand a chance?" His deity face was enough to keep AJ out breath, let alone the husky voice he was using now.
She smiled shy before raising her head to face him. " Well, if it's about an autograph, then yes."
Alan's smile turned into a smirk." Then can I get it now?" He said, moving even closer that they were inch apart.
" You got a pen here?" She asked, struggling to hide how their proximity was affecting her.
" No need for a pen. A kiss can do, " he grinned. AJ was aw stricken. She stared at him, eyes wide open in disbelief before looking away shyly. If Alan was captured by her beauty back, then her cuteness at this moment didn't make it any less.
He smiled." I was just kidding. Let's get back to work. only having your number will do, " he said, retreating back.
" You are silly." AJ sighed in relief.
Betty, Angela, and AJ were standing together chatting. Quen stood aside, looking at them. You can say staring cause his eyes were fixed on only them.
" Do you like my sister?". Quen was caught off guard by Alan. He was busy staring that he hadn't realized that Alan was beside him.
" Why do you think so?" He tried to hide his embarassament.
" You have been staring at her for a long time," Alan said and shrugged.
" Just keeping an eye on AJ," he said, brushing the topic away, but Alan wasn't easy to deal with.
" You don't need to lie. Your eyes say so, " he grinned.
" Really? Are you saying that to make me escape goat so that I won't ask you about how you were flirting with my niece? " he said, putting on his stern face.
Now, it was Alan's turn. " I think they need me there," he said and ran to help some guys who were putting things in the car. Quen smiled and walked towards the girls, too.
