Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Sky Journey

The boundless grassland resembled a green sea, with gentle winds playing through the lush grass, turning them into rippling waves. Anyone in this paradise would have their worries swept away.

However, Bryce was an exception.

"Ahhhh—it's too much!" he yelled joyfully.

"Damn it! Even though I knew I was about to die, did that little slime really have to bully me?" This was him reminiscing about a recently formed friendship.

"If I were back home, I'd split you into eight pieces with my Enchanted Sharpness VIII Netherite Sword!" This was him daydreaming.

After his outburst, he was exhausted and finally sat down.

To be honest, this place was indeed picturesque and pleasant. Even someone as unusual as Bryce had to admit his anger had reduced significantly here.

He recounted his experiences. In less than a day, he had already encountered three mishaps.

Clearly, this world was full of dangers. Whether it was a majestic dragon as grand as a mountain, a mysterious sea serpent, or seemingly harmless slimes, they could all cause his demise.

Yet, fortunately, it seemed he wouldn't truly die. Although each resurrection brought him to different places, with his belongings lost, he still had his life, and with life, there was hope.

Moreover, it seemed he had activated some sort of system. Now he finally had the time to study it carefully.

"Huh?" Bryce noticed that the interface now had a symbol resembling the crafting table from Minecraft.

[Detected new loaded module: Portable Crafting Table]

With a thought, the crafting table symbol glowed, and a cube-sized crafting table appeared in his hand.

"This crafting table is like the one in Minecraft, allowing for item crafting. As long as I have the right materials, I can craft known recipes at any time." Information flowed into his mind, and Bryce immediately understood.

However, he was at a loss again, "I remember many items, but some specific recipes are a bit fuzzy... It seems I'll have to discover them on my own, just like the unknown recipes."

The small crafting table seemed to be linked with his thoughts, appearing and disappearing at his will. Bryce realized he could add materials into it with just his mind to complete crafting. However, currently, he had nothing to craft.

Bryce put away the crafting table and whistled.

"Although God closed a door for me, at least He opened a window. Even though He killed me, He gave me a crafting table... Hmm? I still feel like I'm at a loss!"

Accepting his fate, Bryce quickly adjusted his mindset with some grumbling.

"Although getting rich starts with punching trees, it seems the current situation is quite different from the vanilla game." Bryce thought for a moment and decided to explore first to understand this world better.

He climbed a nearby high ground and looked into the distance. In the depths of the grassland, at the end of the green sea, a tall tower stood faintly visible.

The tower shimmered with a silvery-gray light, and its towering spire seemed to pierce the sky.

Even from a great distance, Bryce could sense the grandeur of the building.

Now he knew where his next destination was.

"The day I become strong will be the day you damn dragons perish. Little sea serpent, I'll make your skin into a belt. Little slime, I'll turn you into blue jelly noodles. Hahaha!"

Along the way, Bryce was in high spirits. With the system activated, he couldn't help but imagine his future revenge, as if ruling this world was within his reach.

Of course, Bryce wasn't completely unrealistic. Although he was currently fearless, if each death was as insignificant as a feather, the pain sensors in his body would protest, not to mention the psychological trauma.

"Even though I have unlimited potential, I'm currently a weakling, unable to even tie up a slime. Moreover, this world is full of dangers. If I want to grow strong, I must be cautious. Luckily, I was reborn on this grassland, which seems relatively safe—Huh? Why am I flying?"

Bryce felt a lightness in his feet and a strong grip on his shoulders.

He strained to look up, only to see a long, sharp beak.

It was a massive Hippogryph, with splendid plumage. The Hippogryph's huge claws clutched Bryce 's shoulders, lifting him off the ground.

"This should be the Hippogryph from the Ice and Fire mod." Bryce recognized this old acquaintance, though the Hippogryph seemed to have no memory of him.

[Detected new loaded module: Ice and Fire]

[Creature: Hippogryph]

[Description: Hippogryphs are mysterious alpine flying carnivores that can be tamed and ridden. Hippogryphs are creatures with the body, tail, and back legs of a horse, the head and wings of an eagle, and eagle's talons as its front feet. ]

[Health: 40/40]

"Oh? I see... When I actively discover module-related information, the module gets automatically recorded into the system?" Bryce noted, feeling his portable crafting table unlock some new recipes related to the Hippogryph. When selecting these recipes, the system would show the required materials and placement methods, and they could be quickly crafted in the table.

"Iron Hippogryph Armor, Dragon Bone Flute..." Bryce quickly checked a few recipes and found them useless, "I remember these recipes clearly. Even without the system's prompts, I could craft them if I had the materials."

"Ahhhh—!"

Bryce snapped back to reality.

The Hippogryph let out a sharp, deafening cry.

The Hippogryph soared higher and higher, and Bryce began to panic, realizing he was in grave danger.

He tried to use the Dragon Subduing Palms but couldn't even reach the Hippogryph's chest.

"Am I going to die so easily again? I'm so unwilling!" Bryce shouted, flailing in the air, but his struggle was like that of a mosquito caught by a person's fingers.

In just a few minutes, the Hippogryph had flown thousands of meters.

Suddenly, Bryce had an idea.

He craned his neck, opened his mouth wide, and bit down hard on the Hippogryph's claw with all his strength!

"Ahhh—"

The Hippogryph cried out. It didn't expect this prey to be so unruly. In pain, it accidentally let go.

"Hahaha, I win after all! Ha..." Bryce was elated, but then he realized he was in the sky and turned pale.

"Damn, this is bad. I'd rather have visited the Hippogryph's home. Now I'm going to crash and break into pieces, and it'll hurt a lot."

So, Bryce experienced a parachute jump without a parachute.

In no time, he was plummeting towards the ground, now only a few hundred meters away.

Suddenly, he had a flash of inspiration, calling out to the system in a last-ditch effort, "System! Disable fall damage!"

"Splash!"

Bryce plunged into water.

A column of water shot up, like a volcano erupting, spraying straight up.

After a while, Bryce crawled out of the pond, drenched.

"I didn't die, hahaha... ugh..." Bryce laughed and coughed up water.

[Health: 16/20]

Bryce checked his health bar, noting he had only lost four health points.

In fact, the lost health was due to him feeling a bit dizzy and briefly lacking oxygen underwater.

Surviving the ordeal, Bryce was invigorated.

"Roar—!"

A roar rang out, followed by a painful, shrill cry.

[Health: 8/20]

Bryce felt a sharp pain. He turned around with teary eyes and fury.

[Detected new loaded module: Alex's Mobs]

[Creature: Crocodile]

[Health: 30/30]

[Description: Carnivorous, egg-laying reptiles, usually found in rivers and swamps.]

"Sorry!" His small universe burst forth as he clutched his butt and bolted, while the crocodile, disinterested in pursuing, was chewing on a small piece of lean meat.
