Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Quandary Block

It seemed as if Bryce had slept for an incredibly long time.

He woke up groggy, yawning lazily as if he had been asleep for a century.

Looking around, he found himself lying on the back of a horse. The horse was well-trained, and its gait was so smooth that he could hardly feel any bumps.

"Awake? That's good," Lucas poked his head out of the carriage and greeted him with a smile, "One more day's journey, and we'll be there."

"Huh?" Bryce was full of questions, like an army of terracotta warriors, "I…you, you…"

Lucas laughed, "You've had a really sound sleep, you've been asleep for a whole day and night."

"Huh?" Bryce's mind was spinning, "Does that mean I automatically bound the respawn point, and I'm out of the tiger's mouth and into the tiger's mouth again? Or does it mean I didn't die at all, I just had a simple sleep?"

Bryce touched his forehead where he had been shot, and where there should have been a wound, he only felt intact skin.

"You didn't lie," Lucas said, pulling out a gun from his waist.

Seeing this, Bryce dove off the horse like a rabbit seeing a hawk.

"Bro! Spare me!" Bryce pleaded with a mournful face. Although he was not afraid of death, he was already scared to death.

"Hahaha!" Lucas signaled the black horse to stop and laughed loudly, "I can see you're confused. Let me tell you, this gun of mine has a magical function. If you lied to me before, you'd be dead by now. But for those who tell the truth, this gun will only play a joke on you."

"But…"

"But how did you faint for a day and a night? You were scared into fainting, and you were already recovering from a serious illness, and your body was tired, so you slept until now."

"…" Bryce fell silent.

This lie detector is a bit harsh.

"Does this gun have a name?" A gentleman takes revenge, it's never too late, but Bryce needs to know the name of his enemy first.

"I just call it the Magic Gun. But it can fire different bullets. The bullet that just judged whether you were lying is the Truth Bullet."

"Magic Gun, Truth Bullet?" Bryce muttered to himself, and suddenly a memory of a module came to mind.

[Newly loaded module detected: Bartlan's Magic Gun]

[Item: Magic Gun]

[Introduction: This is a magic gun originally belonging to Bartlan. When firing ordinary bullets, it will not cause any damage; but when the ammunition is filled with magic items, it may bring magical effects.]

[Durability: 80/128]

"Making this gun seems to be a bit of a hassle," he checked the recipe he had just unlocked. Although he knew this module, he couldn't remember the specific recipe. "Wooden planks, magic alloy, barrel magic, magic dust… never mind, I'm overthinking."

"You can go with us." Lucas invited, "We'll be in a small village in another day, and then we'll rest there for a while."

"Great! No problem." Anyway, he was a stranger in a strange land, so Bryce decided to stick close to this kind-hearted thigh.

The two continued on their way. Lucas returned to the carriage, and Bryce sat on the horse.

"Lucas," Bryce turned around, facing the curtain-covered carriage, and said to the middle-aged man inside, "Thank you for saving me."

Although Bryce had already understood life and death, he was still glad to be alive. After all, it's hard to guarantee that he won't be reborn in a terrible place.

"Small matter." Lucas seemed to be stretching, preparing to take a nap.

The sun gradually set, and it was evening in the blink of an eye.

Lucas was always resting, and Bryce, full of questions, had no chance to ask them out, so he could only look around boredly on horseback.

"After all this trouble, all I know is Lucas's name, and that we're heading west now, but I have no idea where we are or where we're going." Bryce sighed, "I guess I'll have to wait until we get to the village."

He looked at the western sky through the sparse leaves above his head, and the clouds were dyed red by the setting sun.

In the past few days, the carriage had left the swamp, passed through the plains, crossed a small mountain range, and was now traveling in a sparse grove. They followed a path that appeared and disappeared from time to time, and they didn't encounter any danger along the way.

As the sun set, the last rays of sunlight pierced through the gaps in the leaves and into the grass in the forest, creating a somewhat tragic scene.

The leaves on the branches and on the ground trembled slightly, as if playing a dirge.

"This is the Tyndall effect. I'm sure I'm not mistaken." Bryce quietly watched the beam of light, solemnly saluting it.

The sun had completely set, but the forest was even brighter, as a round moon had unknowingly arrived overhead. But the leaves were not pleased. They trembled even more angrily, and Bryce could feel a faint vibration on the carriage.

"What's the matter? Whether it's moonlight or sunlight, as long as it can photosynthesize, it's good light." Bryce communicated with nature.

The vibration soon stopped. Several hundred feets ahead, clouds of dust gradually fell.

Lucas stepped out of the carriage, jumped onto the top of the carriage, crossed his arms, and gazed into the distance.

Bryce was obviously not blind.

He saw a group of cavalry waiting not far ahead, about thirty in number.

"Damn it, these people don't look like good guys. I really have a hard life!" Bryce was in tears.

The carriage slowly stopped, with both sides about three hundred feets apart. Lucas stood on top of the carriage as steady as a mountain, without saying a word.

"I didn't expect it to be Kinsley." Lucas thought to himself, recognizing the young knight leading the group.

"Lucas!" Kinsley's angry roar came, he specifically used a magic to amplify his voice.

"That's amazing." Even though the situation was not quite right, Bryce was still shocked by Kinsley's loud voice, "It's hard to imagine, this guy is not big, but the power of his horn is not small."

Lucas looked up at the sky and sighed, "As expected… they brought this over."

Bryce followed his gaze and saw a simple sand-colored cube floating in the sky, nestled in the moonlight.

"Quandary Block!" Bryce recognized this artifact.

[Newly loaded module detected: Atum: Return to the Sands]

[Item: Quandary Block]

[Introduction: A legendary block from the historical kingdom of Atum, only generated in pairs in the tomb of the pyramid. Legend has it that only those who defeat the pharaoh guarding the tomb are qualified to take the Quandary Block away]

"It seems we can't escape…" Bryce knew that as long as Kinsley didn't actively open the barrier, or the Quandary Block didn't run out of energy, they couldn't escape the shield generated by the Quandary Block.

"Can you use a gun?" Lucas suddenly asked, throwing the gun from his waist without saying a word, "Hold it tight when you shoot. If you lose it…"

"No, no problem!" Bryce quickly caught it. He looked at the information of the handgun, and the ammunition template column had been changed to explosive bullets by Lucas. Bryce swallowed, and was a bit excited, it seemed that a fierce battle was inevitable.

The cavalry on the opposite side charged over aggressively, but Kinsley rode his horse slowly forward. Although Kinsley was smaller than Lucas, he was quite muscular. He was wearing a silver-white armor, and a symbol was painted on his shiny helmet. The rest of the cavalry spread out in formation, flanking the carriage from both wings.

As the cavalry approached, Bryce saw their health bar information.

[Health: 20/20]

"It's about the same as me." Bryce looked at them and found that some of the cavalry had different statuses.

[Status: Strength II]

[Status: Resistance I]

As for Kinsley, because he was too far away, he couldn't see his information.

Lucas was not flustered at all, he took out a small book with a black cover from his bosom, faced Kinsley's direction, and began to murmur a spell…
