Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 : New Rewards

The mutant coyote was about eight hundred metres away from Chris's shelter when it had just been scanned.

By the time he came out of the shelter, the distance had shortened to six hundred metres.

It was obvious that the coyote's speed was very fast and its target was very clear.

It was Chris!

His shelter was on the slope, and after drilling out of the shelter, he scanned the surroundings.

He spotted the mutated coyote in a patch of grass at the bottom of the slope.

The hair of the Mutant Coyote was greyish-yellow, and its sharp teeth were bared on the outside, looking ferocious.

Without hesitation, Chris instantly raised his hand and shot an arrow towards the Mutant Coyote.

At this moment, the distance between the two was far, so it was a good time to attack.

If he really waited for the coyote to get close, then he really wouldn't have the slightest chance to fight back!

Max beside Chris also saw the mutated hyena in the distance and realised that this was an enemy that was a threat to his master's survival.

So Max ran as fast as his legs could carry him, and in an instant, he arrived at the side of the Mutant Coyote.

Max stopped at a distance of five metres away from the mutant coyote, showing his teeth and displaying a ferocious look as he looked viciously at the mutant coyote.

There was also a gurgling vicious sound in his throat.

The Mutant Coyote was also not willing to show weakness, and assumed a stance similar to Max's.

A wolf and a dog were facing each other like this.

Chris didn't know why the Mutant Coyote didn't attack immediately, but he knew why Max chose to confront rather than attack.

Because, Max was a smart dog, it didn't go with the goal of tangling with the mutated coyote from the start.

Its goal had been very clear since the beginning.

To restrain the mutant coyote's movements, attract the mutant coyote's attention, and allow its master to deliver a fatal blow!

Seeing that the Mutant Coyote's gaze was completely on Max at the moment, Chris pulled back the bowstring once again!

There was a swoosh!

An arrow came from far and near.

It was shot accurately and steadily, and stuck heavily into the spine of the Mutant Coyote's waist!

A bright red line of blood immediately blossomed from the waist of the mutant hyena.

With a pained wail, the mutant coyote fell to the ground.

Its spine was shot off, losing control of its lower body and becoming a paralysed wolf.

However, it wasn't dead yet.

Lying on the ground, blood continued to gurgle out of its mouth, and its breath was as weak as a wandering thread as it let out a whimpering sound.

Chris jumped down from the hillside, walked over to the side of the mutant coyote, and made up an arrow.

It hit the mutant coyote squarely in the head.

Instantly, the Mutant Coyote lost its voice.

"Congratulations to the host for killing the Mutant Coyote for the first time, gaining Survival Points: 10"

Just like the first time he killed the Mutant Silver Ringed Snake and the Concealed Chick, the system's prompting voice appeared, earning a reward of 10 Survival Points.

But, it wasn't the system's Survival Points reward that he was looking forward to.

What he was most looking forward to was the treasure chest that burst out after the Mutant Coyote was killed!

Under Chris's gaze, the Mutant Coyote turned into dots of fluorescence.

A silver-white treasure chest appeared in front of him.

Chris raised his eyebrows in surprise.

Unexpectedly, the second treasure chest in his life was also a silver treasure chest!

What kind of luck was this!

After picking up the treasure chest from the ground, he opened it after looking around and realising that there were no other dangers in the surroundings.

"Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Energy Mountain Bike Manufacturing Drawing*1."

"Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Clover Lanyard *1."

"Congratulations to the host for obtaining High Explosive Grenade *4."

There were three items in total, but Chris was pleasantly surprised.

Although it was also a Silver Treasure Chest, Chris always felt that the rewards in this treasure chest were quite a bit richer than the last one.

Opening the warehouse, he checked the descriptions of the items.

"Name: Energy Mountain Bike Manufacturing Drawing (Ordinary)"

"Introduction: after learning this, you can create an Energy Mountain Bike by consuming Minerals and Survival Points, the Energy Mountain Bike can be driven by consuming various types of energy, or it can be driven by mechanical energy (foot pedal) alone."

His eyes lit up when he saw the first item.

This was a good item!

According to the system's introduction above, he had surmised a lot of things.

This energy mountain bike was most likely not a mountain bike as he understood it, after all, mountain bikes on Earth were all foot-powered and had little to do with energy.

The introduction of this mountain bike hinted that it could be powered by consuming various energy sources.

In other words, it was possible that this mountain bike was a piece of future technology mountain bike, which could be added with petrol as a motorbike or charged with electricity as an electric car.

Moreover, as a future technology mountain bike, its speed and comfort were absolutely top notch!

Thinking of this, Chris couldn't help but be pleasantly surprised.

With this mountain bike, his travelling speed would definitely increase dramatically!

After checking the mountain bike's manufacturing consumption, Chris was even more pleasantly surprised.

A portion of iron ore, tungsten ore, copper ore, plant fibres, rubber, and 200 Survival Points.

If he used screws or nuts instead of a portion of iron ore and copper ore, the consumption of Survival Points was even lower, requiring only 150 points!

And he just happened to have screws and nuts in his warehouse.

It was so cheap that it exploded!

Surprised, Chris turned his own gaze to the next item.

"Name: four-leaf clover lanyard."

"Description: this is a lanyard of unknown origin, the pattern of the lanyard is a four-leaf clover that symbolises luck, and it is said that those who wear it will always be favoured by good fortune."

This should be a pendant that could increase the value of luck.

After taking the four-leaf clover pendant out of the warehouse and hanging it around his neck, he looked at the next item.

"Name: High Explosive Grenade."

"Introduction: a high-explosive fragmentation grenade made in an unknown place, extremely lethal, with an effective damage range of 15 metres, please be sure to pay attention to your own safety when using it!"

After seeing the introduction of the third item, Chris sucked in a breath of cold air.

15 metres? This was still a grenade?

The handheld mini-grenades weren't this fierce either!

His heart was surprised and amazed, but he didn't take the grenade out to observe it.

The main reason was that he was afraid of going off .....

Satisfied, Chris closed the system interface, opened the map, and after slaughtering all the remaining chicks in the vicinity according to the red dots on the map, he and Max returned to the shelter.

The time was only just noon, and there was still an afternoon left.

Chris sat down next to the wooden chair after having lunch with Max.

Max, on the other hand, ran to the rotating upward staircase and plopped down on the steps to take a nap.

Chris sat in the wooden chair and watched as Max lay comfortably and went out some iron pieces from the warehouse.

These iron pieces were attached by someone else when he traded, and there weren't many of them.

However, it should be enough to design a set of iron armour for Max.

Half a day later, he took out the pre-measured size drawings from the warehouse and pencilled in the design.

Saying it was a design, in fact, Chris only drew the shape of the armour in general, very rough as well as concise.

Of course, the reason was not all because of his poor designing skills.

The main reason was still that his equipment was too poor.

Even if the design was very good looking or the craftsmanship of the design was very high, it wouldn't help.

His current level of technology was here - there was no supporting machinery.

Building armour was all by hand!

After the drawing was done, Chris took out the chisel and hammer from the warehouse.

Following the pre-drawn auxiliary lines on the iron sheet, he clanked and chiselled.

Soon, the iron sheet changed into several large pieces of iron that were not very regular in shape in his hands, as well as many thin wires.

These wires were also chiselled from the iron sheets, which took him a lot of effort.

The purpose of these iron pieces was to act as wires.

After all, the only ropes he had in his hands were those rolled from plant fibres, which were simply not strong enough.

Only wire could be used.

There was another clanking sound, and the time came to evening.

When the sky grew dark, he finally stopped what he was doing.

Gathering together a piece of iron armour that was connected by wire.

The silver-white iron plate, reflecting the light of the orange-red torches on the wall, was somewhat dazzling.

Chris weighed the iron armour in his hand.

The iron armour did have some weight to it.

But worn on Max's body, it shouldn't be enough to affect Max's movements.

However, in the future, if there were better materials, it was a must to replace this armour.

This armour could only be used as a transitional and emergency item in the early stages.

Chris looked at the iron armour in his hands with satisfaction, and carried Max in front of him, passing it onto his body.

Max was asleep and was abruptly picked up by him, instantly waking up.

However, when Max felt the cold texture on his body, he still couldn't help but wag his tail.

Seeing that Max was satisfied, he nodded.

After dinner, he climbed into bed.

...

"Doomsday Calendar, 8 January, year 1."

"You have received a lot of information today, which has been very satisfying, and your confidence in survival has been strengthened. (Survival Points +20)"

"You have been favoured by Lady Luck today. (Survival Points +20)"

"You have successfully built a set of battle armour for your pet, and both your pet and you are very happy. (Survival Points +20)"

"You slept very peacefully last night, and your mental and physical strength has fully recovered. (Survival Points +10)"

"Congratulations, you have managed to survive another day and are being evaluated on what you did today. (Survival Points +10)"

"Final settlement, you have gained a total of 80 Survival Points this time, with a total of 525 Survival Points remaining."

In the morning, Chris sat up from his bed and looked at the prompts in the system, a little confused.

Received the favour of the goddess of fortune?

What the hell is this?

He kind of didn't get it, couldn't it be related to the four-leaf clover lanyard?

Puzzled, Chris scratched his head and decided not to care anymore.

Anyway, the extra Survival Points were a good thing.

He opened the system interface and looked at the entire five hundred or so Survival Points, his heart filled with joy.

Five hundred survival points, finally saved enough!

Taking out the broken generator from the warehouse, Chris called up the system's reinforcement interface.

"Choosing to repair the generator core requires 500 survival points to be consumed, do you confirm the repair?"

Confirm repair!
