With police officers patrolling the station, it was inconvenient for Sylas to get weapons from there. However, that was not a problem, as there was still the substation. Sylas couldn't remember the exact location of the substation, so he took out his phone and checked the map to find it. Once he had the location, he drove his motorcycle directly to the substation.
The motorcycle quickly reached the substation. Sylas stopped, then stored the motorcycle in his storage space, a scene that surprised several survivors who witnessed it. However, Sylas didn't care, as he was wearing a helmet, and no one could see his face. Thus, he wasn't concerned about revealing a bit of his ability.
This time, Sylas was lucky; the substation only had zombies and no living people. The main door was locked from the outside, for reasons unknown. Sylas used his lock-picking skill to unlock the door and casually walked into the substation.
As soon as he entered, a large group of zombies in police uniforms rushed toward Sylas, but upon seeing him, they reluctantly turned away. Sylas closed the door behind him and proceeded further into the substation. It was his first time there, and he was unfamiliar with the layout, so he had to search slowly for the weapons.
Fortunately, the substation wasn't large. After a quick search, Sylas found the armory. Upon opening the door, he discovered several handguns and boxes of ammunition. Given it was just a substation, the weapons were limited to these handguns and bullets. There were no other types of weapons.
Sylas counted seven handguns and twenty-three boxes of bullets. Although it was only handguns, it was sufficient for the time being. Sylas exited the substation, locked the door again, and left.
As for the zombie police officers inside the substation, Sylas left them alone. After handling everything, it was already lunchtime. Sylas roared back to his villa on his motorcycle. On the way, several people called out to Sylas for help, but he ignored them.
First, Sylas had no interest in saving anyone. Second, he didn't have the capability to rescue them at the moment. On his way back, Sylas encountered a mutant zombie. This zombie was massive, over two meters tall, clearly mutated. Sylas stopped his motorcycle and fired several shots at the mutant zombie. His marksmanship was highly accurate, achieving headshots with every bullet. But it was futile. The mutant zombie's skull was too tough; even though every shot hit its head, it couldn't kill the zombie.
Sylas even shot at the zombie's eye, blowing it out, but it still didn't kill the zombie. The attacked mutant zombie went berserk and chased Sylas madly. Left with no choice, Sylas twisted the throttle and sped away. This encounter with the mutant zombie ended with Sylas fleeing. Sylas realized the formidable power of mutant zombies. Such creatures couldn't be easily eliminated. At least, Sylas didn't have the means to destroy a mutant zombie yet.
For his safety, Sylas didn't ride his motorcycle directly back to the neighborhood. Instead, he stopped some distance away and walked home. This way, he was more discreet and wouldn't attract zombies.
Inside the villa, Clarissa was cooking when her phone suddenly rang. Hearing the ringtone startled her.
In the aftermath of the apocalypse, Clarissa had lost contact with her family and friends. She presumed that most of her friends had met unfortunate ends. Today, she was surprised to hear her phone ring.
She quickly picked it up and saw it was an unknown caller. Without hesitation, Clarissa answered the call. A familiar voice came through the phone.
"Clarissa, is that you? It's Hayden," the voice said weakly.
"Hayden, you're alive? That's wonderful! I thought something had happened to you," Clarissa exclaimed with joy.
Hayden replied weakly, "I'm still alive, but barely. I haven't eaten in a day and a night."
"Sob, sob, Clarissa, I'm so hungry. I think I might die," Hayden said.
"Don't cry, don't cry. Tell me, what's going on with you?" Clarissa asked, tears in her eyes but still strong.
"On the day it happened, we were lucky to be eating in a restaurant," Hayden began. "When many people turned into zombies, we didn't dare to leave and hid in the restaurant. Luckily, there was food, and we managed to survive there for a month. I wanted to contact you, but my phone battery died, and I had no way to charge it."
"Then, a few days ago, a group of raiders attacked us. I managed to escape and found a house to hide in. I found a phone charger here and charged my phone, so I called you," Hayden explained, his voice breaking intermittently.
Knowing that Hayden was safe for now brought a sigh of relief to Clarissa. Just then, she heard a click as the front door opened and Sylas walked in. Seeing Sylas, Clarissa's eyes lit up. Perhaps Sylas could rescue Hayden.
