Chapter 20 - Burning Zombies

After eating and drinking his fill, Sylas cuddled with Clarissa for a while. However, he didn't take things further, as he could sense that Clarissa was still somewhat resistant to him. Sylas wasn't in a hurry; she was already within his grasp, so he wasn't worried about her slipping away.

Increasing Clarissa's self-defense abilities was necessary, though. Sylas didn't mention this to her, intending to surprise her instead.

The night passed quickly, and it was soon the next day. Upon waking, Sylas immediately opened the system interface to check his task for the day.

Daily Task: "Kill one thousand zombies, reward: Sharpshooter Mastery."

Seeing the skill name, Sylas felt a thrill. Although he hadn't read the skill description, he could guess what it entailed. It was likely an enhanced shooting skill. After all, if a sharpshooter couldn't shoot accurately, it would be a joke.

As for killing a thousand zombies, the number was high, but it wasn't an insurmountable problem. A thousand shots would suffice to complete the task. However, Sylas glanced at his hands. Firing a handgun repeatedly might be too strenuous for his body. But there was no choice; the system had already issued the task. Sylas was highly motivated by the reward and was determined to find a way to complete it.

"Wait a minute, the task only requires me to kill a thousand zombies, but it doesn't specify how I must kill them. Could I find another way?" Sylas thought, a plan forming in his mind.

Killing a thousand zombies by shooting wasn't impossible, but it would be extremely exhausting. If there was another option, Sylas would naturally prefer it. He already had a new plan for killing zombies.

Three kilometers from the community, there was a gas station. That was Sylas's target.

Sylas looked around and found a motorcycle. He didn't know the model, but it looked quite good and surely expensive. He placed his hand on the motorcycle and used his lock-picking skill. This was an experiment for Sylas. With a click, the motorcycle unlocked and was ready to start.

A smile appeared on Sylas's face. The lock-picking skill was truly impressive. If it could unlock a motorcycle, it could certainly unlock a car as well. However, given the current state of the roads, a motorcycle was more convenient than a car, which was why Sylas chose it.

From his storage space, Sylas took out a prepared helmet and put it on. He got on the motorcycle, twisted the throttle, and with a roar, the motorcycle sped off. The motorcycle's speed was high, and the noise attracted nearby zombies. However, Sylas was too fast for the zombies to catch up. Even if they did, he wasn't worried, as he wouldn't be attacked by them.

"Riding a motorcycle at a time like this, he's got some guts," a survivor said enviously as they watched Sylas on the motorcycle. They also wanted to ride away, but the streets below their building were filled with zombies. They could only dream of leaving, not daring to step outside, let alone ride a motorcycle.

Three kilometers wasn't far, and before long, Sylas arrived at the gas station. There were zombies at the gas station too, but upon seeing Sylas, they ignored him. To the zombies, Sylas appeared as one of them.

Sylas began transporting the gasoline from the gas station. His method was simple: he stored all the gasoline in his storage space. He could release it whenever he needed it later.

With his storage space, Sylas quickly stored all the fuel from the gas station. In a short time, he had taken all the fuel stored there. After completing this task, Sylas took out his pistol and swiftly dealt with the three zombies at the gas station. Given Sylas's current shooting skills, killing three zombies was an easy task.

Now that he had the gasoline, it was time to complete the task of killing one thousand zombies. Conveniently, this gas station could be used for that purpose. Sylas took out the speakers he had prepared earlier and turned them on inside the gas station. The loud noise attracted many nearby zombies, though not enough.

Sylas then started his motorcycle and rode around to attract more zombies. The motorcycle's roar also drew a considerable number of zombies. However, Sylas noticed that his lure wasn't quite strong enough.

Thinking quickly, Sylas shot a zombie and tied its body to the motorcycle. He took out a fire axe and hacked at the corpse, making it bleed profusely. With the corpse on the motorcycle, its attractiveness to the zombies increased significantly. Sylas rode around the area, and soon a large horde of zombies followed him.

The number of zombies following Sylas clearly exceeded one thousand. He led them all to the gas station. Along the way, Sylas released gasoline from his storage space onto the ground, creating a continuous trail. The zombies followed closely and entered the gas station.

Riding his motorcycle with speed, Sylas maneuvered past the zombie horde. He then lit a lighter and tossed it into the middle of the zombies. The lighter ignited the gasoline on the ground, and a massive fire erupted.
