Chapter 12 - New Abilities

Sylas embraced Clarissa, gently stroking her back, and whispered softly in her ear, "Don't be afraid. I'm here, and I'll take care of you."

"Life always finds a way. I don't believe humanity will go extinct," Sylas said firmly.

He also thought about his system.

Maybe the system he possessed was meant to ensure the survival of humanity.

Otherwise, why would the main task involve finding top-tier slaves?

These top-tier slaves themselves didn't possess any extraordinary abilities.

But their genes must be excellent.

If they weren't, they wouldn't be rated as top-tier slaves by the system.

If Sylas and these top-tier slaves had offspring, wouldn't they be even more exceptional?

Passing down superior genes could become humanity's hope for survival.

Sylas felt a sense of clarity.

Looking down at Clarissa in his arms, he noticed that this world's Clarissa seemed optimized.

Her face was delicate, her features exquisitely refined, like the perfect goddess.

Sylas found himself deeply attracted to her.

He leaned in for a kiss.

Clarissa struggled briefly before giving in.

Perhaps the fear had also led her to a realization.

She responded to Sylas's affection, and they slowly sank onto the sofa.

Sylas's hand wandered across her chest.

Clarissa caught his mischievous hand and, blushing, said, "Let's just leave it at this for today. I promise to give myself to you later."

Sylas felt a bit dissatisfied, but he was more lenient with the woman he liked.

He smiled and nodded, saying, "Don't worry. I promised not to force you."

"But in my current state, you need to help me out."

"If not with your body, I'm open to other ways," Sylas said, smiling at Clarissa.

Clarissa rolled her eyes at him but understood what Sylas meant.

She knew men had their needs, and no normal man could withstand such urges for long.

Sylas was already being considerate.

So she didn't refuse his request.

With her delicate touch, she managed to satisfy Sylas's needs.

Sylas glanced at the system interface.

The random task to calm Clarissa's fear had been completed without him even realizing it.

Sylas felt a sudden warmth in his eyes, which quickly returned to normal.

He noticed that his vision had become much clearer.

He had been slightly nearsighted, about 100 degrees.

Not enough to hinder daily life, but still less than perfect.

But upon gaining the night vision ability, it seemed his eyesight had also been enhanced.

He could see things more clearly now.

His nearsightedness was gone.

"No more nearsightedness, this is great," Sylas thought to himself.

He walked to the window and looked out into the night.

His vision was no longer hindered by the darkness.

Sylas could see everything clearly in the dark.

It felt like he was wearing sunglasses on a sunny day.

The surroundings were a bit dim, but everything was still clearly visible.

But it was the pitch-black night outside.

The night vision ability was truly powerful.

Especially for someone like Sylas, who wasn't afraid of zombies, having night vision made things much more convenient.

"What are you looking at?" Clarissa asked softly, having just finished rinsing her mouth and walking over to Sylas.

"I just awakened another ability," Sylas said with a smile.

He wouldn't reveal the secret of his system to anyone, but he would let those close to him know that he could awaken abilities.

This was the trump card Sylas had set for himself.

Clarissa was startled and asked, "You awakened another ability? What kind of ability?"

"Remember what you should call me," Sylas said, pinching Clarissa's cheek, enjoying the smoothness, and smiling.

Blushing, Clarissa softly said, "Master, what ability did you awaken?"

"I love it when you call me Master," Sylas replied with a smile.

After a pause, he continued, "I awakened night vision."

"You have night vision now. Look outside."

Sylas had shared the night vision ability with Clarissa.

Although her version of the ability wasn't as powerful as Sylas's, it was still enough for her to see her surroundings at night.

Clarissa felt a warmth in her eyes. When she looked out the window, she noticed everything outside was illuminated.

It was no longer a pitch-black night.

She could see the scenery outside.

"I can see it, everything. I can really see in the dark. This is amazing," Clarissa said excitedly.

Night vision might seem insignificant, but it was an incredibly practical skill.

Being able to see clearly without any light at night was undeniably useful.
