Chapter 1 - System

"Damn it, might as well rush out and die."

Sylas looked at the empty kitchen, already harboring thoughts of despair.

A month ago, the apocalypse descended, and half of humanity instantly turned into zombies.

Most of the remaining humans also perished in the mouths of the zombies.

Only a small portion of humanity survived.

Sylas was one of the lucky survivors.

But Sylas didn't feel lucky at all.

He felt it would have been better to die early.

After all, living like this was too painful.

Besides some drinking water, there was no food left at home.

He had been starving for three days and didn't even have the strength to speak.

The entire world was in such a miserable state that there was no hope of rescue.

They could only wait for death.

Either starve to death or be bitten by zombies.

Sylas felt he had no other choices.

As for going out to find food, that was impossible.

There were zombies right outside his door.

Sylas sighed deeply, really feeling that he might as well die sooner.

Sylas also felt incredibly unlucky.

He was a transmigrator, and this was a parallel world.

He had just transmigrated and encountered the apocalypse.

Was there anyone more unfortunate than him?

Just then, a ding sounded in his ear.

"Conquest System download complete."

"Conquest System? What the heck?"

Sylas exclaimed in surprise, followed by a surge of joy.

He didn't know what the Conquest System was, but he knew it was a system.

He usually enjoyed reading novels and naturally knew what a system was.

With the system, he now had a way to survive.

He quickly looked to see what this Conquest System was.

Sylas called out to the system in his mind, and a semi-transparent interface appeared before his eyes.

This was the interface of the Conquest System.

The interface provided a detailed introduction.

The function of the Conquest System was simple; it was activated due to the apocalypse.

In the apocalypse era, tasks would be issued, and completing them would earn rewards.

The Conquest System had three types of tasks: main tasks, daily tasks, and random tasks.

Main tasks could be continuously completed, daily tasks would refresh every day, and random tasks would appear randomly.

On the system interface, main tasks and daily tasks had already appeared.

As for random tasks, they hadn't appeared yet.

Main Task: In the apocalypse era, possess more perfect slaves.

For each slave owned, a random reward would be granted.

The main task could be carried out continuously; if Sylas could acquire ten thousand slaves, he would receive ten thousand rewards.

Sylas's eyes lit up, feeling that he was about to soar.

But then, he realized he had underestimated the task.

The main task had specific requirements for the slaves.

Only top-notch slaves met the criteria.

A top-notch slave meant someone with an overall evaluation of ninety points or more.

Moreover, the person had to willingly become a slave; if they were unwilling, it wouldn't count.

Once someone became his slave, their life would be in his hands.

Slaves also needed to be bound by gender.

The gender of the slave could be bound as male or female.

Once bound, it couldn't be changed.

Sylas immediately bound the gender to female.

Who would want male slaves?

Of course, Sylas chose females.

However, this posed a problem: finding top-notch female slaves wasn't easy.

So, while the main task seemed simple, it was actually very challenging.

Fortunately, besides the main task, there were also daily tasks to complete.

Today's daily task had already been refreshed.

Daily Task: "Kill one zombie, reward: Zombie Aura skill."

Zombie Aura: "Your body will emit the scent of a zombie, preventing you from being attacked by zombies."

Sylas's eyes lit up, feeling that this skill was simply divine.

With the Zombie Aura, he could walk freely among the zombies.

He could take whatever food he wanted without any worries.

However, the task was somewhat difficult.

He had to kill a zombie first.

There were zombies outside his door, but Sylas didn't dare open it and go out to kill one.

After all, there were quite a few zombies outside, and he was already starving. It wasn't easy to kill a zombie in his current state.

"Wait, if it's just about killing one zombie, maybe there's a way."

An idea suddenly struck Sylas, and he quickly walked to the window and looked down.

Sylas lived on the twenty-third floor, and from there, the ground below looked like tiny black dots.

But those tiny black dots were groups of zombies.

What if he dropped something heavy from the twenty-third floor? Could it kill a zombie?

It seemed worth a try.

Sylas felt inspired and decided to test his idea.

After all, even if it failed, there would be no loss.

Sylas searched around his home, gathering everything he could throw from a height, and brought them to the balcony.

He started by throwing down some ceramic plates.

The ceramic plates shattered on the ground with a loud crash, breaking into pieces.

The impact wasn't very destructive, but it made a lot of noise.

It immediately attracted all the nearby zombies.

Seeing the ground swarming with zombies, Sylas threw down a chair and a sofa.

With a loud crash, the chair and sofa hit the ground, but unfortunately, they didn't kill any zombies.

Then he thought of the refrigerator.

Sylas filled the refrigerator with some miscellaneous items, tied it up with a rope, and then pushed it off the balcony.

It was only during these times that he could do something like this; if it were peacetime, Sylas would definitely be arrested for such actions.

With a thunderous crash, the refrigerator heavily struck a zombie.

Ding! The daily task was completed.

Sylas's face lit up with a look of wild joy.
