Chapter 3 - Clarissa

"I'm so full."

"So comfortable."

Sylas let out a satisfied belch.

Since the apocalypse began, this was the first time Sylas had eaten his fill.

The moment Sylas was full, the random task was completed, and the system reward was received.

A warm current flowed into Sylas's body, enhancing his physique and increasing his strength by 100 kilograms.

An increase of 100 kilograms in strength wasn't just a simple boost in power.

For the body to gain 100 kilograms of strength, a much stronger physical constitution was needed.

So this enhancement was a comprehensive physical strengthening.

The most noticeable effect was an increase in physical strength by 100 kilograms.

Sylas exhaled, a glint of gold flashing in his eyes.

He looked around the room, his gaze falling on the solid wood coffee table in the living room.

Sylas remembered the coffee table weighed over 300 pounds.

He walked over to the coffee table, gripped it with both hands, and with a sudden effort, lifted it with his arms.

The coffee table was heavy, but Sylas's current strength was enough to lift the 300-pound table.

Sylas was very pleased with his current physical condition.

Previously, Sylas had been a shut-in with suboptimal health.

He struggled to lift a table weighing just over 100 pounds, let alone 300 pounds.

This was the power of the system, transforming Sylas from a shut-in to a strong man.

An idea struck Sylas, and he quickly went to the bathroom, taking off his shirt.

In the mirror, Sylas saw his body now covered in defined, chiseled muscles.

"What a strong body."

Sylas couldn't be more satisfied with his new physique.

Before, he had no muscle at all, but now he had the body of a muscular man.

And he didn't even need to work out; just completing tasks increased his strength.

It was incredibly satisfying.

"System, can you give me another task?"

Sylas said with a smile.

However, the system didn't react at all to Sylas's request, completely ignoring him.

Sylas didn't mind, though. After all, there were still daily tasks, and tomorrow he could complete another one.

After eating and drinking his fill, Sylas rested for a while and thought about his future.

He had a plan for his future.

His goal was to live better while completing the daily tasks.

Expecting someone else to rescue him was out of the question.

So, Sylas had to save himself.

He needed a safe refuge, and he needed ample food and supplies.

Manpower was also essential.

Humans are social creatures, and it was impossible for him to survive alone.

And there was the main task that needed to be completed, since each completion brought rewards.

Sylas didn't intend to give up on these rewards.

He silently planned and understood what he needed to do.

He had no intention of being a savior; that was impossible.

The world had turned into a nightmare, and there was no way to save it.

Sylas just wanted to survive, and he wanted those who followed him to survive too.

"So, what should I do next? I can't just wait for tasks to refresh," Sylas thought to himself.

"Right, Clarissa seems to live in our community." Suddenly, Sylas remembered this detail.

The house Sylas lived in was bought by his parents. Back then, the family had some money, so they bought an apartment in a high-end community.

Sylas remembered that the celebrity Clarissa had also bought a house here. He had once seen her in the community.

But he didn't know exactly where Clarissa lived.

Another point was that it was uncertain whether Clarissa was still in the community; she could already be dead.

If Clarissa wasn't dead, would she meet the system's task requirements?

Sylas didn't know, but he figured it was worth a try.

Finding out where Clarissa lived wouldn't be difficult; the property management office in the community would definitely have her address.

Sylas decided to find Clarissa's address first.

Since zombies wouldn't attack him now, he could safely search for Clarissa's residence.

Time to take action!

Sylas dressed up, putting on thick clothes, a mask, and sunglasses, then headed out.

Zombies wouldn't attack him now.

But living humans might.

Sylas didn't want anyone to discover his immunity to zombies.

So he had to disguise himself as a zombie to avoid detection by other survivors.

There were likely other survivors in the community, and Sylas needed to be cautious of them.

Having watched many apocalypse movies, Sylas knew that in a post-apocalyptic world, survivors could be as dangerous as zombies.

The elevator was still functioning, so Sylas took it after stepping out of his door.

The elevator descended slowly and soon reached the first floor.

When the elevator doors opened, a group of zombies rushed in.

The noise of the elevator attracted the zombies.

However, the zombies that entered just stared curiously at Sylas in the elevator, showing no intention of attacking.

Even though Sylas knew he was safe, being surrounded by zombies made his heart race.
