*Knock* *Knock*
Augustus's head snapped towards the door as he carefully stood up.
"Your Majesty, General Rod requests your presence at the War room" A voice resounded.
"Ah yes, One Second," Augustus said as he quickly fixed his clothes and his dishevelled hair.
Stepping down the stairs he quickly made his way towards the door.
The door once again opened by the soldier outside and he came face to face with a knight in armour.
"Lead the way" Augustus said as the Knight nodded and began walking leading Augustus to the war room.
The halls were so empty yet massive, It seemed to be like the remnants of a once thriving kingdom.
Augustus sighed to himself, the guard leading Augustus heard this and couldn't help but glance back at Augustus wondering if he had done something wrong.
"Why is everyone seemingly so loyal to me" Augustus asked, he wasn't sure, maybe their loyalty was just an act.
Augustus remembered in his past life, sometimes when he used to get drunk with people something about never meeting or seeing Augustus would make them tell Augustus everything about themselves.
Augustus never understood why they would do this in the past but at this moment he knew why they so freely told him about their past traumas, crimes heartbreaks etc.
Augustus felt that he couldn't ask those three people this but this guard, it was likely that Augustus would never see this person again and Augustus didn't feel like he might potentially be in danger due to him asking these questions.
"Umm, Your Majesty, Your father was a great king who took exceptional care of us all as his citizens, and you are his son so no doubt everybody will show loyalty to you" The gaurd responded after thinking for a while.
"I see" Augustus responded back to the guard and went silent.
The gaurd wanted to say something more but stopped himself.
He wished to tell the newly crowned king that even if everyone was loyal to him right now, if he didn't show signs of being a good king to his citizens, high chance that loyalty would vanish.
They weren't loyal to Augustus, they were loyal to his deceased father.
"What happened to my father" Augustus asked as they kept walking.
"Your Majesty your father was assasinated" The gaurd said clenching his hands tightly through gritted teeths.
Seeing the gaurds reaction, Augustus couldn't help but feel a sense of relief.
'At least I'm not the king of some kingdom filled with backstabbers' Augustus thought 'The back stabbers have already stabbed my father of this life in the back already and dipped'
Walking in silence Augustus walked infront of huge windows that overlooked a vast area of the kingdom.
"Wait," Augustus said as he stopped at the open windows.
The fresh air blowing through the Window refreshing Augustus's mind relaxing it.
Augustus glanced outside the window after taking a deep breath of fresh air.
"Are we on a hill?" Augustus asked the unknown soldier behind him.
The soldier looked confused for a few seconds but still responded.
"Your Majesty, the Castle is located on a hill in the centre of the entire kingdom"
'This kind of a speciality of the kingdom' The soldier thought glancing out of the window.
Looking down Augustus did not see. A hint of hustle and bustle, although it was hard to see.
Augustus noticed the conditions of the houses which from the outside looked okay but it was almost like a ghost town.
"Where are the people?" Augustus asked.
"Your Majesty, they... they are all cooped up inside their houses"
"As you must know, the Vanhiem Kingdom covertly had attacked and destroyed a large part of the farmlands where people went to work, which in turn didn't give them money to purchase food and water.
Although your fathers wished to give the citizens free food, it was impossible to maintain any form of trade with other kingdoms and merchant groups on the sea since almost all of the money in the kingdom was robbed.
This led to the current situation where the citizens are cooped up inside the house to consume the least energy possible so that they can make their food storage last until they are saved."
The soldier said.
Augustus who was looking out at the countless seemingly empty houses, he felt his blood boil at this moment.
'In each of those houses, there is a family' Augustus thought with anger surging inside his entire being.
"Let's go" Augustus said as he turned around.
The soldier nodded and began leading Augustus until they finally arrived infront of a double door.
There stood two other knights outside this door who immediately opened the door for Augustus after they bowed.
"Where is General David?" Augustus asked as he made his way over to an inconspicuous chair that was similar to the other chairs.
"Your Majesty, General David said that he was "too lazy, to attend this boring meeting" and to "Just tell him what to do"" Rod with some clear annoyance in his voice.
Augustus however didn't mind David's actions.
'As long as he can get the work done and doesn't betray me' Type of attitude Augustus took towards David.
"Your Majesty, The Vanhiem Kningdoks army is going to attack from the south, that is what we have discovered from a spy within the Vanhiem Kingdom" The Aged man said.
Augustus nodded when he heard that "What about their division of Vice Admiral level Genrals?" Augustus asked.
"Your Majesty, Three of these Generals are gonna come with the army, as for the other two Generals, we currently have no information"
"General Rod, if you and General David were to fight against these Two General how would you hold up?" Augustus asked.
"Your Majesty we have never had combat with these two generals, but we can say that they are not much stronger than us" General Rod replied.
"And what is their Army count in comparison to us?"
"Your Majesty, we have a total of 35,000 soldiers of which 5,000 are Navy men, so 30,000 ground soldiers, and Vanhiem Kingdom this time is sending out 20,000 Soldiers there total strength is estimated to be 25,000 land soldiers and 20,000 Navy soldiers"
"Why the difference in our Navy men compared to there's?"
"Its because, the Vanhiem Kingdom located close to the sea Your Majesty" The aged man said.
'Damn, we are outnumbered by a lot' Augustus thought.
