It has been thousands of years since the war and the battle at the Fortress, and I have been carefully abiding by all the tasks that my masters have provided. Some of these tasks are almost nigh impossible and usually take me hundreds of years to solve, yet they always expect positive results from me. I have never gotten a bad result that would prompt my masters to wake up and rectify the mistake.
Both masters have been asleep after the battle to keep their newly awakened powers from costing multiple universes their lives. However, they watch the expanse from their slumber.
My name is Yeux Demonde. I am the singular student of two masters. Both siblings. I am the sole padawan of the Binary Gods of Finality and Creation. I am on my way to the temple of one of my masters and his wife. The temple is currently maintained by one of my master's friends. Affectionately, I call him Ami-Sensei. Ami-Sensei, being the guardian of the temple and the shrine priest, has the utmost care and discipline when entering and meeting my master.
The temple is adorned with jewel-like structures surrounding it, and it has some of the most beautiful yet simplistic motifs present all around the plains surrounding the temple. Though nothing grows. The temple is almost entirely white, except for the Master and his wife's statues present in the middle of the temple. That is where Master and his wife are presently in slumber.
I walk up the thousand-stepped staircase in a sense of respect for the temple's sanctity and not to trigger my Master's defence system. I slowly walk up, thinking about each of the previous tasks provided by my Master of Finality and his wife. Slowly I tread more and more and contemplate the next task that might be handed over to me. Would I need to be monitoring the Thrones and watch my Masters' families? Or would I need to simply count the number of newly formed galaxies at this instant present in the surrounding hundred million parsecs? No idea.
I was slowly reaching halfway to the top and felt a breeze of cosmic winds blowing at the temple present at the edge of a multiversal fabric. The soothing and calm winds blow and tell their tales to my master. Tales from the edges of the multiversal latitudes. However, it all originates from me... the original fortunarum.
Upon reaching the gate of the temple, I am greeted by Ami-Sensei. He seemed to have been expecting me, as I could hear him screaming from the summit of the temple cheering for me as I climbed up. I glance down at the stairs I have traversed and look at the scenery present surrounding this mega-structure of a temple. The shrine and the key-hold guardia of the new usurper gods that ushered in this era. The Binary Gods, as well as my masters. Their tale is lost to time now, and only a few select people can maintain and preserve the memory of all the incidents that took place practically billions of years ago now.
Even my story began that long ago. I was just lost to space and time and resurrected in pieces by my masters. Indirectly, I was the one who was under their guardianship, instead of me guarding them. They remain my masters, and I will remain their padawan, for the rest of time immemorial. Creatures like us have no tasks other than to maintain the order of nature in the worlds present and prevent calamitic disasters, like the ones my masters participated in.
I met Ami-Sensei and we exchanged heartfelt greetings. I gave him a big hug and he showed me the way into the temple. It seemed to have been maintained the same way I had seen it the previous time. Monotonous and almost picture-perfect, making you wonder if you were in a black-and-white world. I questioned Ami-Sensei on the status of my master and his wife. He simply replied, "They are still asleep, Yeux. I don't feel like they would be waking up anytime soon. But it's not like they don't speak to me. Your master would randomly speak with me on some occasions, it's the only way I have been able to relay your tasks to you, haven't I?"
I told him that he was practically becoming my master at the rate that my original masters were asleep. It was a hinted joke, at the state of idol worship that my masters had gone into. Creatures around the galaxy only visit these two temples, when they want to attain something, or they want to leave this plane and end something. I asked him if it was tough living in such conditions for such a long period.
"It sure is tough, but it's nothing compared to what a lot of others have already gone through. The Thrones is as strong as it is now, due to all the hardships that have already occurred. I am sure that they would be glad to meet you again." Ami-Sensei replied, with a slight smirk on his face.
"I will meet the family eventually. After all, they are the closest-knit thing that my masters share and possess."
"You must have come here for your next task then, haven't you? Lucky for you, your master gave me a task. It was a strange one, but I feel both of your masters have agreed to let you have this as your next task. It seems that they want to keep your deity status, and leave it as low as possible, to prevent another Voiddess Incident from taking place again.
'Understand what it means to love. Share and process the meaning of that term. In the end, become the person who can guide others in their journey of affection.'
This was the task that was given to me.
A creature who is composed of a faulty body, a genius mechanical structure, a grimoire and a catalyst surrounding. A creature who has no physical form and only exists like the cosmic winds. One who cannot even possess material attachment was given the task of explaining it to others and guiding them through it.
"Your task is to look for extra-terrestrial creatures who are in dire need of help and guide them through their journey. In this manner, you attain two things.
You can get the status of a local deity who helps others traverse through love.
You learn about the journey yourself and can teach it to others.
No matter how intelligent, no matter how small and no matter how big, you will have to teach it to them, my dear.
"I stood there, waiting for another joke, as the reality slowly sunk into me.
My masters were truly trying to make me the deity of love.
I bid my master, his wife and Ami-Sensei farewell, and continued forward with my goals, as I slowly started to descend the stairs.
Taking the form of existence itself, I roamed the universes, in search of a target, who would be able to help me achieve my goals.
Those worlds stuck with me. I was going to have to understand and help others understand the meaning of love. Truly a task for the behemoths.Cupid's dream and strange topics for a person such as myself.
In the end, I was left with only one question.
"What is love"
