Chapter 35 - Dog of city lord

Ajax's eyes widened. "Abyss?" he echoed, feeling the weight of the word.

Ceil confirmed, "Yes, we're in the Abyss. That's why there were no monsters in the grassland—they were likely captured and brought here as food."

Ajax's curiosity piqued further. "Do you know anything about the Abyss?"

Ceil hesitated before responding, "I know a little, but not much. My creator wasn't a battle type. From what I understand, we're on the outskirts of the Abyss. Be careful—monsters here have intelligence, and the Abyss is ruled by different kings in various regions."

Ajax's thoughts raced. "So, is this place connected to the universe?"

"No," Ceil replied. "The Abyss is entirely separate. It existed before the universe was born, so it's not connected to any universe or gods. Occasionally, it opens up, allowing some crazy or bored gods to explore, but they often get trapped here until another portal appears—like the one you entered."

Ajax frowned. "Do I have to wait here for another portal to open?"

Ceil chuckled. "That's true for other gods, but not for you. We can use a space manipulation spell to get out of here anytime we want."

Ajax sighed in relief, but Ceil continued, "Time moves slowly here, so when we return, only a few hours or maybe a day will have passed. We'll be alright."

Ajax considered this. "So, what should we do while we're here?"

Ceil's voice took on a mischievous tone. "We should experiment... and kill some monsters."

A creepy smile spread across Ajax's face as he took to the sky. With a swift motion, he summoned a fireball and hurled it toward the ground, annihilating everything in its path. He reveled in the destruction as the flames consumed the land below, eager to test the limits of his powers in this strange, dark world.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Ajax, his destruction was being observed by two guards atop a castle or fort. As they watched the scene unfold, one guard remarked, "Looks like a new god has entered the Abyss."

The other guard nodded in agreement. "Yeah, and he looks young and beautiful. Our princess would love to have him as part of her harem."

Behind them, a man with white hair and clad in black armor adorned with an X symbol stood silently. Listening to their conversation, he lifted his head and called the two guards over. When they approached, he looked at them with a gentle yet unsettling smile and asked, "Did you say a young god has entered the Abyss?"

The two guards trembled slightly in fear. Though they were the castle guards, they knew the man before them was no ordinary individual. He was known as the "Dog of the City Lord," Jared. In the Abyss, where danger lurked at every corner, earning such a title was a mark of nobility, and common folk revered him. This reputation made the guards wary of him.

"Yes, sir," they answered in unison, their voices slightly shaky. "A young god appeared in the EggHoud area. He's destroying the eggs there, but he hasn't caused any trouble for us. If you wish, we can go and stop him right now."

The man burst into laughter, his eyes gleaming with a mad intensity. "So, a young god... Gods are supposed to fulfill the wishes of those who make requests of them, right? Well then, I'll go and make a wish of him, and he will have to grant it, no matter what it is," he said, his laughter filled with the twisted glee of someone mentally unhinged.

The guards exchanged uneasy glances but knew they had no choice but to agree. Reluctantly, they responded, "Yes, sir," their voices tinged with fear and resignation. They knew better than to defy Jared, even if his intentions were dark and dangerous.

As Jared finished speaking, he signaled for his guards to follow him and took off towards the location where Ajax was wreaking havoc. The guards obediently followed, flying close behind.

Upon arriving at the site, Jared signaled for his guards to approach Ajax and greet him. The guards, knowing better than to disobey, did as they were told. They positioned themselves in front of Ajax, who was deep in his own world, using powerful spells to devastate the landscape below.

"Stop this immediately," one of the guards called out, trying to catch Ajax's attention. Startled, Ajax paused his destruction and turned towards them. "What?" he asked, somewhat annoyed at the interruption.

One of the guards spoke up politely, "You should stop what you're doing now and come with us. Our captain wants to talk to you."

Ajax was relieved to hear the polite tone in their voices. Though he had been causing significant destruction, it seemed these people were willing to talk instead of attacking him outright. Realizing he might have been in the wrong for wreaking havoc in their territory, Ajax agreed to meet their captain.

As Ajax walked towards the designated meeting spot, he noticed a man with white hair, dressed in black armor that exuded an intimidating aura. Despite feeling a slight chill run down his spine, Ajax decided to approach and apologize for the trouble he had caused.

When he reached the man, Jared's eyes lit up with a strange sparkle as he gazed at Ajax. "Looks like you're the right choice," Jared muttered, more to himself than to anyone else.

Ajax felt a cold shiver down his spine but maintained his composure. He stepped forward and introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Ker Ajax. I'm sorry if I caused any trouble for you."

Jared simply shook his head, a sinister smile on his face. "No, you haven't caused any trouble for me. The destruction you unleashed was a bit of a nuisance, but that's all."

Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, Ajax replied, "Sorry about that. I think there's been a misunderstanding. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm more than willing to cooperate."
