As I snuck out of the hospital, I could almost hear Hikari-sis's furious voice echoing in my head. "You're going to regret this, Kiyoshi!"
Yeah, yeah, I thought, I'll just add it to my list of regrets, right after 'eating that questionable tuna sandwich' and 'watching that rom-com marathon'.
But my triumphant escape was short-lived, as my phone rang, shrill and insistent. And who was calling? None other than Asuka-sis, the queen of chaos herself.
I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I should answer or just pretend I was still in a coma. But my curiosity got the better of me. "Hello?" I said, trying to sound suave despite my current status as a hospital escapee.
"Kiyoshi, where are you?"Asuka-sis demanded, her voice stern.
"Uh, I'm... uh... in a... coffee shop?" I ventured, hoping my lie wasn't as obvious as it sounded.
"Don't lie to me, Kiyoshi! I know you're on the run!"
Oh, busted.
"Hello, what's up sis!?" I asked, answering the phone with a smile.
"Hmm, can you do me a huge favor and pick up my sister from her place and bring her to our home? I was busy decorating the house for the party and lost track of time. Please don't be late, okay?" My sister replied, her voice cheerful and distracted.
"Send me her address," I requested, grabbing a pen and paper.
"Already done! Check your phone, I just texted it to you," she said, her tone playful and teasing.
"Okay, bye!" I replied, chuckling and ending the call.
As Kiyoshi and my sister sat together in the car, I couldn't help but imagine them growing closer with each passing mile. I envisioned the two of them laughing, sharing stories, and forming a deep connection. And as they did, I saw Kiyoshi in a new light - as my future brother-in-law.
The thought filled me with warmth and excitement. I pictured the two of them exchanging vows, surrounded by loved ones, and becoming one of my family members. The idea of Kiyoshi joining our family was no longer just a possibility, but a future I eagerly looked forward too.
I imagined the three of us forming an unbreakable bond, supporting each other through life's ups and downs. And as I did, I knew that I would do everything in my power to make this vision a reality.
I would encourage their relationship, offer guidance and support, and welcome Kiyoshi into our family with open arms.
