Chapter 6 - 'Oh'

"Go ahead and pick a weapon."

"I don't need one." They both said simultaneously as they stepped into the makeshift ring.

She was the brash girl that shoved him down the window.

'I could have gotten injured from that,' he thought.

Although he knew it was a facade, the second version of himself he crafted when the world closed in on him.

To her he was the nobody new guy who was getting preferential treatment from her mentor, someone who had no place in the academy.

She would beat him to the brim of his life in the 3 minutes she had. When he saw the difference in their strength he would have no choice but to leave the academy.

Luck stood at the end of the ring leaving himself utterly open to attacks, if there was a wall he would rest his back on it. Too bad there wasn't anything he could lean on.

"Are you guys ready?" Arlda asked as he watched, looking amused. "Begin."

VOOOOOM!!

Ella closed the distance between both of them within a second as she charged forward at an incredible speed.

Her fist flew straight at Luck's face but he managed to dodge the attack and a series of other blows that came after.

She was fast, faster than he had expected her to be. She placed a kick next aiming for his right side, she was targeting his liver.

A blow like that could immobilise a regular person for long enough to consider this fight her win but it wouldn't be that easy, he dodged once again the kick slightly grazing him.

She went again and again blow after blow but he narrowly managed to dodge each one, but as time went by she had begun to adapt to his movements and even managed to land a few blows.

"They are grossly underestimating themselves, Luck even more so than Ella." Layla turned to see Arlder now standing next to her.

"I can tell, Ella isn't giving this much effort. She probably feels it would be insulting to actually fight seriously against a freshman."

"Are you guys going to dance all day?" Arlder teased. "You have only 3 minutes." From the look on his face they could tell that he was slightly frustrated, or disappointed.

Whatever it was it set something off in Ella, she paused looking at Arlder as if it was the first time she had actually seen him in the match.

"Having to fight even a little bit seriously against this idiot is really irritating." She murmured to herself.

Luck watched her from the other side of the room slightly confused at her ramblings and then she was suddenly in front of him, her fist ramming straight into his face sending him some feet backwards.

"Oh."

"The tides of this match are about to change." Layla said from besides Arlda. But he was now crouched down on the floor looking utterly bored.

Ella closed the space between them once more shoving her foot into Luck's gut following it with an uppercut that took him above the ground.

Not giving him space to land she held on to his shoulder, body slamming him hard into the field sending tremors round the area. The on lookers gasped, whispering to each other.

"Does she really hate him that much?"

"She has to have badly injured the guy."

"He couldn't even last 10 seconds after she took the fight seriously."

Ella walked away from Luck who layed on the field, she was about to exit the arena. She knew he didn't deserve to be in their class, this was a class of the elite and if he couldn't even take that then he would just die when they went on missions. Better suffer here than die on field.

"You are a very violent woman aren't you?" Luck mocked blood streaming down the side of his face.

"Do you want to die?"

"At your hands? How will that happen though, considering how weak you are?"

He was getting further down the edge and he was pushing her, he needed her help here, he needed her to push him down the cliff.

Down the cliff and into the endless void that he could not get himself to willingly jump into.

Ella's irritation was clear and she charged across the field once more.

The current Luck would keep up but he probably wouldn't beat her.

He managed to block a fist that was aimed at his face and returned one of his own ramming his fist into her stomach. She retreated a little before resuming her assault throwing a faint and then catching him at the back of the neck.

BOOOOOM!!

Her knee caught him in the face and he staggered back partially blinded by her attack, then she went for his legs and then his neck once more cutting off his flow of oxygen, he gasped for air and fell to one knee.

'No I will not go down!'

The murmurs in the crowd began once more as they watched Luck smile with each blow he was receiving but this only served to irritate Ella the more.

"You should be disgusted by your own weakness!"

VROOOOM!

Her leg cut through the air catching him in the rib cage. The crowd gasped once more.

"Shouldn't Arlder stop the match?" Someone whispered from amongst the crowd.

"But instead you smile like an idiot."

She grabbed him by the neck hoisting him above her head. 'If he is trying to irk me then God it is working.' She thought as she began to squeeze.

'I won't kill him, it'll just be enough to knock him out... and then maybe a little extra.'

From the crowd Layla tensed when she saw him grab onto Luck's throat, she was about to enter the ring when Arlder stretched his hand blocking her from interfering with the match.

"Didn't we pass the 3 minute mark a while back?" She asked regarding him with a cold stare.

'Amusing, this class keeps getting interesting by the second.' Arlder thought.

"Just give him a second," Arlder said a wide grin plastered on his face. "It's about to start."

"HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!"

A booming laugh escaped Luck's mouth as he stared down at Ella causing some of the students to shiver.

"I guess he considers this self defence?!" LUCK yelled. "Hello little girl, I think it's about time you got acquainted with LUCK!"
