Mrs. Hunton stares at the child deeply for what seemed to be ages, causing her to to shiver in fear, yet she still persisted in asking this question "What about science and technology? Can we fight against magic and magic kung - fu using it?" An even deeper stare surrounded her, causing her to flinch even more, before finally succumbing to tbe pressure, dropping her head down further into her desk.
A brief moment of silence passed, before the cracked voice spoke again "You are not wrong there, we can use machines to fight against them." Heads jump up in shock, as they could bot believe what they have heard: Machines can harm them!?
Yet before this jubilation can continue on, cold water doused it. Mrs. Hunton continued on with her words, "Yet these can only be obtained from far and wide, galaxies so distant that I wonder whether you will be able to witness them at all." A soft sigh is heard at the end of tne sentence, as the students are gobsmacked at her expression. Gone were the frowns, the crows feet, the anger. In there came nostalgia, her gaze swept to tbe farthest reaches of her mind. She soon snapped back into reality, two small blushes present in her cheeks. Coughing, she continued her explanation.
"Regarding using machines to fight against the mystics, as I have said before, it is possible. Guns and lasers, once given enough power, does have the capability to penetrative through the skins and bodies of mages and martial artists, but only ypro tbe third stage. After that, they are as useful as a pin on a rock. Anything beyond that is beyond my jurisdiction, and would land me in the execution chamber, with the worst possible criminals around." Light unexpectedly emanated from her hands, casting an eerie glow upon her visage.
The students all jumped at shock, with the front row all falling of their chairs. Girls even started to cry.
A small chuckle is heard by Jake, as he realizes that Mrs. Hunton was only joking. He looked at her, only to find that she was staring back at him, her eyes no longer stern and dreary, but young, bright and curious. She soon snapped back, realising her mistake, eyes turning back to how it was.
She coughed a little for attention, before continuing on " Alright, alright. Can't I joke as well." The students sit still in utter shock. She just looks back at them, before uttering another sigh. "Haaah, as I was saying, guns and bombs can hurt and kill them, but after the fifth stage they enter a new territory, one bereft of physical weakness. Nowadays, there are almost no weapons that can threaten those above stage 5, yet..." Just as she was about to mention something, she stood still, shook her head, before stating " Nevermind, let's continue now, where were we again? Ah yes, for weapons that can potentially harm and kill martial artists and mages, we have managed to classify them into five tiers currently:
Mortal - These weapons can harm Apprentice and Body Shaping.
Trainer - These weapons can harm Mage and Marrow Cleansing.
Oppressors - These weapons cam harm Wizard and Blood Exchanger.
Above these there are two more stages, yet knowing them will bring certain risks pertaining to them. Any more will have to be learnt at your university, wherever you may go.
Now, that is all for today."
At this point, Mrs. Hunton stands up erect, and starts packing up. Just as the students were about to ask more questions, the bell rang, signalling the end of the class
