Chapter 34 - Mana Class 1

As morning light filtered through the trees, casting long shadows in their room, Eizan and Alex woke up with renewed energy.

"Ugh," Alex groaned as he jolted awake, his mouth wide open.

"Good morning, Eizan," he mumbled, scratching his backside as he stood up.

Before Alex had even fully awoken, Eizan was already up, heading to the bathroom to freshen up. He washed his face and body, trying to shake off the lingering sleepiness.

Emerging from the bathroom, Eizan greeted Alex, "Good morning, Alex. You really slept in today."

"That was the longest sleep I've had this year. You should be grateful I even woke up," Eizan added with a smile as he dried his damp hair with a towel.

Alex chuckled, "Yeah, that's just how I am. Anyway, we've got Mana 1 class today, but first, we should grab some food."

The cafeteria at Axeris Academy was spacious, located in the southern part of the campus. The school bell would soon ring, signaling that classes were about to begin.

Eizan and Alex hurried out of their room, hoping to reach the cafeteria before Mana 1 started. The warm morning sun illuminated the school hallways, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Eizan, with his typically tousled black hair, led the way, while Alex, his ever-organized blond friend, followed closely behind.

"We need to hurry, Eizan," Alex said, a hint of urgency in his voice. "I heard today's special is your favorite meat bread."

Eizan smiled and quickened his pace. "Great, I've been hungry since last night. Besides, we still have some time before class starts."

They arrived at the cafeteria, which was already buzzing with students. The delicious aroma of food greeted them as they queued up for their meal, selecting meat bread and fresh fruit juice.

After collecting their food, they found a corner table to sit. "So, ready for Mana 1?" Alex asked, taking a bite of his bread.

Eizan nodded. "Absolutely. I'm looking forward to this class."

Alex smiled encouragingly. "I'm ready too. We should help each other out if we run into any trouble."

As they enjoyed their breakfast, they talked about their plans for the day and what they hoped to learn in class. Their camaraderie, though simple, always brought them new strength and motivation.

The bell rang soon after, signaling the start of class. Eizan and Alex gathered their things and walked to the Mana 1 classroom with renewed enthusiasm, ready to tackle the challenges of the day.

After breakfast, they rushed out of the cafeteria, crossing the bustling schoolyard as more students made their way to class. The hallways were filled with warm conversations, laughter, and the occasional bell indicating the start of lessons. Eizan felt a surge of excitement, eager to face the highly anticipated Mana 1 class.

"We need to hurry, Eizan," Alex said, glancing at his watch. "Mana 1 class won't wait."

Eizan nodded and quickened his steps. They arrived at the classroom just as the bell rang for the second time. The Mana 1 room was almost full of students, all ready to learn. Eizan and Alex quickly took their seats in the second row, right in front of the teacher's desk.

Professor Lysandra, a middle-aged woman with neatly tied silver hair, stood at the front of the class. She surveyed the students with sharp yet wise eyes. "Good morning, everyone," she greeted in a calm but authoritative voice. "Today we'll be learning the basics of energy manipulation. Prepare yourselves, as this lesson will be challenging."

Eizan's heart raced. Mastering basic energy manipulation was fundamental to all magic and Mana skills. Excelling in this meant unlocking the door to higher abilities.

Professor Lysandra began explaining the theory behind energy manipulation, using a magical chalkboard to display diagrams and visual examples. Eizan took diligent notes, determined not to miss any details. The excitement in the room was palpable, with every student captivated by the lesson.

After the theoretical portion, Professor Lysandra instructed the students to stand and pair up. "Now, we'll practice these techniques," she said. "Find a partner and start with the basic exercises."

Eizan and Alex exchanged glances, silently agreeing to be practice partners. They moved to an open area at the back of the class, ready to begin.

"Alright, Alex, let's start with the first step," Eizan said, recalling everything he'd studied from his books and last night's practice. "Focus your energy in your palms and try to feel the flow."

Alex nodded, closing his eyes for concentration. Slowly, he opened them and lifted his hand, revealing a small blue energy orb gently spinning in his palm. "How's that, Eizan? Is it good enough?"

Eizan smiled. "Looks great, Alex! Now, try to maintain its shape and stability."

As Alex practiced, Eizan focused his own energy. He closed his eyes, sensing the Mana flowing within him. He envisioned a bright white light in his palm and, when he opened his eyes, saw a small, softly glowing white orb.

Professor Lysandra observed from a distance, nodding in approval. "Well done, Eizan and Alex. Both of you show a good understanding of basic energy manipulation. Now, try interacting with each other's energy."

Eizan and Alex faced each other, their energy orbs glowing softly. "Let's try combining our energies," Eizan suggested, feeling both nervous and excited. They brought their palms together, and the orbs fused, creating a brighter and more stable light.

"This feels... amazing!" Alex exclaimed, his eyes shining with excitement. "We did it!"

Eizan felt the warmth from their combined energy. "Yes, we did. But we need to keep practicing to control this energy even better."

The practice continued with various techniques and combinations. Eizan and Alex worked hard, supporting each other and offering feedback. They learned how to control the flow of energy, shape it into different forms, and use it for various purposes.

The class flew by. When the bell rang, signaling the end of the lesson, Professor Lysandra gathered all the students. "You all did very well today. I'm proud of the progress you've made. Remember to keep practicing, as energy manipulation is a skill that requires time and dedication."

Eizan and Alex packed up their books and notes, satisfied with their progress. As they exited the classroom, Alex called out, "Eizan, where are you headed?"

"Oh, I'm just going to the garden for a bit. I want to breathe some fresh air after today's confusing lesson," Eizan said, turning back and waving at Alex.

Alex nodded and headed back to the cafeteria.

In the garden, Eizan sat quietly, lost in thought about yesterday's events. "Ugh, it's so hard to keep these feelings in check," he sighed.

As Eizan sat alone in the serene garden, watching the leaves gently sway in the afternoon breeze, his thoughts were consumed by the previous day's events. Suddenly, Sophia appeared before him, her expression filled with concern.

"Eizan, you look deep in thought," Sophia said, approaching him. "Is something bothering you?"

Eizan lowered his gaze slightly. "I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. Wasn't the reunion supposed to be a good thing for us, not a fight after finally meeting again after two years?" he said quietly.

Sophia, also reflecting on the previous day, admitted, "I shouldn't have spoken to Zayn the way I did. I shouldn't have blamed him for what happened to that vampiric student."

"And why didn't you call or greet me yesterday? You just looked at me and said nothing," Sophia added, pouting slightly.

"Ahaha... I'm sorry about that. You looked so serious and striking in your academy outfit," Eizan said with a slight smile.

"Enough with the pout, little girl. Besides, we'll see each other every day, right?" Eizan said, reaching out to gently pat her head, making her feel comfortable, as if enveloped in a hug.

"Yeah, you're right..." Sophia smiled at his words.

As Eizan and Sophia enjoyed the quiet of the garden, Zayn suddenly approached from the path, his face cheerful.

"Hey, you two! What are you talking about?" Zayn asked, joining them and sitting down.

As Zayn joined Eizan and Sophia in the garden, the peaceful atmosphere shifted to seriousness. After a moment of casual conversation, Zayn took a deep breath.

"Eizan, Sophia," he began with a serious tone, "I want to apologize for what happened yesterday. I shouldn't have acted so rashly and raised my voice at you, Sophia." He said, lowering his gaze slightly.

Eizan and Sophia exchanged glances. Sophia spoke first, "Zayn, it shouldn't have happened, but we appreciate your courage in admitting your mistake."

"I also want to apologize for seeming to blame you for what happened," Sophia said softly.

Zayn looked down, clearly regretful. "I'm truly sorry. I just wanted to help, but I worried I made things worse. I'll be more careful in the future."

Eizan nodded, responding with understanding. "We all make mistakes. What matters is that we're together again after two years, right?"

With Zayn's apology accepted, the atmosphere in the garden returned to calm. The three of them sat together, their bonds of friendship strengthened.
