Chapter 18 - Penetration

The screams finally subsided.

Yel was puffing on the floor in Yin's gaming room.

"Ahahahahhahaha so majestic," Joe said.

While Yel was being chased, the final member of the friend group, Joe, rocked up to Yin's house.

Joe is the second deadliest individual of Yel's school, placed after Yin Yang. The ranker said that compared to Yin Yang's double fire, Joe was the cringe man. He could cringe you and annoy you to death, while being super strong so you can't fight back.

(Who's the ranker? Oh that's Yel duh.)

"Yel come play Super Lario Party with us," Yang called.

"Nah, I'm fine, I'll watch," Yel said. "Did you forget about my luck?"

"Pooofff ahahahahhahahhahaha…"

Yel shook his head. Crazy man.

He just wanted to get back into Awaken and level up.

"Guys, I forgot to ask, what level are you guys in Awaken," Yel asked as the thought crossed his mind.

"8," said Wu.

"7," said Yang.

"6," said Yin.

"4," said Joe. "Ahahahaha broke the chain."

"What the," Yel was puzzled. "Why are you so low?"

"Because I don't really care," Joe laughed. "My talent is so cringe."

Yel was concerned. Everyone should care about Awaken, but he had no idea how to make Joe take it seriously.

"What's your talent?" He asked.

"A random B rank talent," Joe said. "Increase cringe by 200% or something."

"Oh snap," Yin said.

"What the flippity flop flop," Yel said. "What even is classified as cringe in the game."

"I don't know," Joe shrugged. "All humanoid creatures just run away from me, or they just die."

Wu: (O_O)

Yin: (⊙_⊙)

Yang: (⊙o⊙)

Yel: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

"INSTA KILL?" They all shouted.

"AAAAAAAAAA!" Screams of frustration and jealousy sounded through the house.

Yin's dad shouted from somewhere upstairs, "Can you guys please stop screaming! Please!"

"Joe, get your level up," Yel said with excitement. "You can carry us!"

"No," Joe declined. "No no nonono. That's a nono."

"You're gonna regret this," Yel sighed.

"Is that a threat?" Joe smirked. "Try me right now."

"Stop," Yin said. "Yel's right."

"Bro it's just a game," Joe shook his head. "Y'all take it too seriously."

"Later guys." Joe left the room and headed downstairs.

"Bro he just left," Yang said. "Yin and Yel was that worth it."

"You have no idea so keep your nose out," Yin snapped.

"Bruh!" Yang focused back into his intense Noratu Mobile match.

Yel left the room and mentioned Yin to follow. They walked along the mansion's corridors.

"You know something don't you?" Yel asked.

Yin nodded, "Yeah, I have my talent right now. Like it's in real life."

"I know," Yel said and ran forward a few metres.

"Did you just teleport?!" Yin called to Yel.

Yel ran back, "No, just pure running speed."

"Normally you won't notice unless you gain from some sort of a hidden quest," Yel said. "How did you notice?"

"My talent is just unique," Yin answered. "This might hurt a little."

Yin punched Yel slightly on the arm.

Sssssss.

Yel sucked in a deep breath. The punch was light, but it impacted Yel's muscles as if it directly hit. He couldn't feel his arm now.

"Ouch that hurt," Yel said through gritted teeth.

"Sorry," Yin apologised. "That was my talent, 'Each attack has the option to penetrate the skin of the target, ignoring armour up to (500+50xLv)% of magic attack'."

"It's called Penetration," Yin added. "Technique type talent."

"Ignore armour completely?" Yel was bewildered. "Magic Attack? Geez, I cannot imagine a lightning ball or something exploding under my skin."

"I was experimenting with the talent the whole day," Yin explained. "That's why I wasn't able to get onto the leaderboard and that's also why I noticed the difference when I logged off."

Yel nodded, "Makes sense."

Not far away, 3.5 kilometres away from Yin's mansion.

"How is the plan going?" A cold shadowy voice sounded in the dark.

"It's going as planned," returned a hoarse voice.

Their figures were completely cloaked by the shadow and darkness of the night.

"We expect the first test tomorrow night," the hoarse voice reported again. "In fact, we got more than one target on our mind."

"Good, I'll finally get back what I owned," the shadowy voice smirked. "Hehehehehe, BAHAHAHAHA."

The owner of the hoarse voice bowed towards the shadows. They turned away and walked into an alleyway. Their figure was slim, like a shadow they slid into the darkness.

The owner of a shadowy voice stepped out of the shadows. They looked around 178 centimetres tall. They had a cloak and a hood on, concealing their body size. They lowered their hood a little bit and leaped onto the house behind them. Running on top of the houses, they quickly disappeared. Under the faint streetlights, one could just make out a scar that cut across their lip.
