Each of the six Jokers surrounded Terry. He had no escape. Each of them had a sinister smile on their face as they were circling him. Before a fight could break, the gate opened. Coming out was an old man in his seventies all dressed in black. He walked towards the gang, holding his cane. Terry looked at the old man then at the gate. Bruce Wayne? He thought, just by looking at him, "Schway" was all he could come up with. Bruce wasn't intimidated by the clowns when he walked closer to them, "Leave the kid alone and get off my property. Get out of here now" the old man said sternly.
The one in the purple suit and green hair, who seemed to be the leader of the gang, walked towards Bruce, flexing his knife, "Who are you to tell us what to do, old man? We are the Jokerz"
"Sure you are" he smirks. The clown gets angry and looks like he is about to swing his hand, when Bruce hits him on the stomach with the cane and then wacks him in the face, sending him to the ground.
Terry then punches one of the clowns with the hat hard. He then runs behind Bruce having his back, "Mr. Wayne, sorry about the trouble"
"These clowns after you?" Bruce asked Terry. He nodded his head.
"Yeah sorry about that"
"Just fight"
The two then took on the Jokerz. The big guy ran after Bruce, but he stepped out of the way to hit the clown in the back of the head with his cane. Terry kicks another back, then punches another in the gut.
The female Jokerz drove her motorcycle towards Bruce Wayne with a bat in her hand, but Wayne just stuck out his cain in front, knocking her off her bike. Terry was fighting back against the rest. He grabbed the bat by his feet and knocked one of the Jokerz on to the ground hard. He then kicks one of the clowns on another, knocking them to their feet as well. When things seem to be going well, Terry gets hit in the head hard, knocking him to the ground. Behind him was the big guy from before. Before he could grab Terry, Bruce comes in from behind and swoops his leg with the cain. He then brings it down on his stomach. The leader of the Jokerz gets up, as a last attempt, tries to sneak up on Bruce to stab him with a knife, but ends up getting hit in the face by the cain.
The Jokerz are all on the ground with Terry and Bruce standing over them, until they decide to hop back onto their motorcycles and leave. Terry looks at Bruce, who just gives him an unreadable face. Before any words can be exchanged, Terry falls to the ground passed out.
Terry wakes up to find himself on a couch, trying to piece together what happened. Standing in front of him was Bruce Wayne in his chair, "He is up Luke"
Luke Fox walked in to greet the young teen, "You were out for about an hour. Name is Luke Fox. I am Bruce Wayne's assistant"
"Terry McGinnis" the two shook hands before turning their attention towards Bruce, "You passed out after the fight, so I called Luke over to come check you out. Nothing Serious, just a minor head injury"
Terry stood up, seeing the Wayne Mansion for the first time. He was amazed on how big it was, but he turned his head back at Wayne, who was just looking at him, waiting for Terry to talk, "I appreciate it thank you Mr. Wayne, but I have to get going" before he could walk out, Bruce stopped him from leaving with questions he wanted answered, urging him to sit, "Sit, before you go anywhere, why were those clowns after you?"
"Are you serious?!" Terry questioned. Bruce was calm though.
"You brought those clowns to my home. You can at least explain why they were after you"
Terry sighs, "Alright. Well I was spending the night with my girlfriend and our friends. We were waiting in line until they came along and started causing trouble"
"Why didn't you mind your own business or call the police?" Bruce asked curiously.
"Because they were causing trouble as I said and they were harassing us. I couldn't just let it go"
Bruce looked Luke, then at Terry, "Where did you learn how to fight like that"
"I was in juvie for about a year. People there taught me how to defend myself"
The two just stared at Terry, who seemed like he was offended, "Hey you got a problem with it?" Luke was about to say something. Most likely about Terrys attitude, but Bruce stopped him, before standing up, "Listen kid, I appreciate having my back, I really do, but you need to" he stopped midway through the sentence before clinching his chest. Terry stopped him from falling. Luke walked over to help sit him down.
"What's wrong with him?" Terry asked, who had concern in his voice.
"His heart. He needs his medicine. Stay with him" Luke runs up to get the pills for Wayne. Terry waits with him. He turns his attention towards the phone, figuring he should call home and let his parents know he was alright. When he reaches for the phone, Terry sees a bat inside the clock behind him, trying to fly out. The creature looked like it was trapped, so Terry went over to try and get him out without realizing what he was doing.
"I will get you don't worry" Terry was trying to talk to the bat, who didn't understand what he was saying. He couldn't get the glass open, but rather he accidentally opens a secret passage that was in the clock. It leads to a hidden dark cave down below. Terry looks at it and then back at Bruce Wayne, who still was asleep at this point.
Terry decides to take a walk down the stairs to see what it is. He slowly walks down without making any sounds. When he gets down the stairs, Terry ducks his head after the bats in the cave flew towards his direction. He lifts his head to see how big the cave is. Not just any cave, but the Batcave. The first thing Terry thinks to himself is that Bruce Wayne is Batman. When he was growing up, he used to hear stories about Batman from his parents to everyone else in his life that talked about the legend. Terry thought he was dead, but he was wrong. Batman is the same old man that helped him fend off the Jokerz when they were attacking him.
Terry looked around more and explored the cave. He saw a giant pennie that was there and looked all the way past the giant dinosaur that appeared to be the tallest thing in the cave. When he turned around, Terry saw the displays of costumed heroes that were behind him. He walked over to check out the costumes that were just standing there.
What Terry was observing was the original Batman suit that had a dark cape hanging over the back of the costume. He looked next to it and saw a Robin suit. Then he turned his head to see the Batgirl and Nightwing suit, but next it seemed to be another suit that was hanging on display with the others.
Terry walked over to check it out. The suit was all black and had a red bat symbol. Down below it had a fancy belt. Terry then quickly realized that this is an updated Batman suit. He opened the case, attempting to touch the suit, but that is when he saw in the reflection, a gun was pointing towards his head. It was Luke Fox, holding the weapon towards his head. Bruce was there by his side.
"Mr. Wayne, I can explain"
"GET OUT!" is all Wayne said with rage, pointing his cain towards the entrance they came in. Without another word Terry walked up the stairs with Bruce and Luke watching him go.
Terry walked out of the mansion, hearing the gate shut behind him. On the ground was the same motorcycle he was driving after he tried to get away from the Jokerz. Terry picked it up on the ground. He looked back at Wayne Manor and then back at the vehicle. Without anything else to say, Terry takes off, leaving for what he hopes will be the final time.
Meanwhile inside Wayne Manor, Wayne and Fox are watching Terry leave. Bruce is just quiet when Luke is actually concerned,"You're not afraid are you?"
"Afraid of what?" Bruce asked with already knew what Luke was thinking.
"Afraid that he is going to tell someone who you once were"
"No"
"But Bruce"
Bruce cuts him off, "Drop it Luke. Now" Luke stopped as Bruce turned his back, he thought about it and was impressed with how McGinnis handled himself, too well, "Luke there is one thing you could do. Keep an eye on the boy"
"Any specific reason why?" Luke asked confusedly.
"Just do what I have asked" Luke shook his head and left. Bruce sat down staring at the clock that was opened not too long ago.
Terry had finally gotten off the highway. What he was thinking about was how much of a crazy night it was for him; the only thing coursing through his mind was that Bruce Wayne was Batman. Of course he knows its a big secret, which is why he had to keep it a secret. He just hopes that Wayne won't go after him for it. Either way, Terry was more concerned about going to see his parents. He knew that he was going to be grounded for life so he embraced himself. Something wasn't right though.
Terry stepped off his motorcycle, leaving it on the side of the street knowing he couldn't bring it home, so he walked home instead. It was colder the more he walked. He was getting closer, but he noticed something that felt strange. There were police cars outside his apartment. Terry started to get worried and started to run ahead. He wasn't sure if the cops were after him or not, but Terry wanted to find out.
Dana was there talking to the police. Terry stopped towards her direction, "Terry!" she ran into his arms. Terry was confused.
"Dana, what are you doing here?"
"I just got here. I wanted to see if you were okay, but then I saw the police here, so I thought something happened"
The GCPD Commissioner stepped out of her car, "Commissioner Barabra Gordon. Are you Terrance McGinnis?" the Commissioner asked.
"I am. What's going on ma'am?"
Gordon gave him a sad face. Seemly to be sympathetic, "I am so sorry Mr. McGinnis, but your parents are dead"
"What" Terry was confused, trying to process.
"A neighbor called next door. The Jokerz gang attacked your home. They murdered your parents" Without waiting for the Commissioner to finish, Terry ran into his apartment. He was terrified, probably for the first time in his life. One of the officers tried to stop him from entering, but Terry pushed him out of the way. Once he barged in, he was horrified.
"MOM, DAD"
Terry saw his parents placed in a yellow blanket. Making him wonder what they did to them. Terry collapsed on the ground, in pain mentally. This was his fault, which is something he thought to himself. He found himself on the ground crying, feeling guilty. Terry found himself alone for the first time. His parents are gone and he is an orphan.
