Terry McGinnis found himself getting ready to go back to school. He almost forgot to turn off his alarm. He was used to having his mother come in and get him up, but now he had to do it on his own. Everything he had to do going forward was on his own. Terry got out of bed and got dressed, heading to the kitchen to get something to eat for breakfast. When he was done, Terry packed his bag for school. Before he could leave, he noticed the disk sitting on the counter. He picked it up, debating what to do with it. Instead of gloating on it, Terry just put it in his bag before heading out to take the subway. What he didn't notice there was a limo watching him from a distance. The window opened to reveal it was Mr. Fix, staring at the tennager as he was walking off. He then picked up his phone to make a call, "Mr. Powers, I have been here for weeks. Shall I dispose of the boy?"
Powers was at his deck looking at the cameras he had placed in the McGinnis home. He looks back at the footage of Terry putting the disk in his bag before he took off from school. He would be easier for his assistant to take care of the teen now, but he wanted to meet McGinnis in person, "That won't be necessary Mr. Fix. We will wait till he gets out of school. I would like to meet the boy in person. Maybe he will do what his father would not"
Mr. Fix complied, "Very well Mr. Powers" he hung up the phone, staring McGinnis off as he was leaving his sight.
Terry walked into school for the first time in weeks. He was so focused on finding his parents killer, he forgot how behind he was. Terry didn't want to come back, but he wanted to do his parents proud. Upon walking to his locker he saw Dana stand by his locker. This at least made him happy.
"Hey" Terry smiled probably for the first time since the funeral. Dana just gave him a slight smile, "Hey. I haven't heard from you since you left your parents' funeral. Called you a million of times to make sure you were doing alright, but you didn't answer"
Terry gave her a frown, almost forgetting about her, "I am so sorry Dana. I just needed space, but I am here now" taking her hand. Dana looked at it and smiled, not being mad at Terry. She was just glad he was doing okay, but deep down Terry wasn't. He still has the disk on his mind. He knows his parents' killer is still out there, but he didn't want to worry her. Instead he decided to play it like nothing happened. The two walk together to class after Terry got what he needed from his locker.
Terry spent the day trying to catch up on school. His teachers already promised to help him catch up on the work he missed, and he shouldn't stress about what he has missed. Everyone the whole day was being supportive, but Terry could barely pay attention. Terry was thinking about the disk throughout the day, debating what to do. He wasn't sure, every once in his body wanted to confront powers, but he had to expose the truth about him, which is why he was considering going to the police. Commissioner Gordon would be able to help him. Before he could think of what he should do, Dana tapped his shoulder, while they were in class, "Ter is everything ok?"
"Yeah everythings fine just thinking that's all"
"Well maybe after class we can study at my place?" Terrys heart sank, he wanted to, but he had to take care of this. Lucky for him the bell rang before he could answer that question. The two walked together. Dana still pressed on if he would study at her place, but before they got the chance to talk, they both ran into Nash, who had a smug look on his face. He blocked their way and decided to bother Terry, "Hey McGinnis, I heard that you have your own place now. Why don't you invite everyone over and throw a party?" Terry got angry and decided to throw Nash against the lockers and pin him down. The crowd was staring and it looked like he was about to punch him, but decided to hold back. Before any adult could come, Terry just tossed Nash; he wasn't worth his time. He then looked at Dana, "Sorry you had to see that. Listen I have to go, but I will call you" he kissed her on her cheek before walking out of the school, having ended for the day. Terry was on his way to the police station. He had decided to turn the disk in to expose Powers. He rushed off to the subway as soon as he could. He got on and rode to the usual place he was dropped off. After getting off the subway Terry was approached by a limo that looked like someone was waiting for him to get off. The window opened to reveal it was Derek Powers. Terry gave him a scowl. Before he could go anywhere Mr. Fix was behind him. He held him still, so he wouldn't escape.
Terry just glared at him, while Powers just simply gave him a smile, "Please to meet you Mr. McGinnis. My names Derek Powers"
Terry's face quickly turned into anger when he heard that name of the man that murdered his parents, but he kept calming, wanting to know what was going on, "What do you want?"
"I was hoping to talk. Mind getting in the limo?" he asked so politely, which nearly caught Terry off guard, but scowled, "No Thanks. My parents always said not to talk to strangers"
"Well your parents aren't around anymore are they?"
"I have you to thank for that don't I?" Terry decided to call him out, which startled powers.
"I don't know what you mean?" Derek says so innocently, but Terry pressed forward with this, "I know it was you who set up the Jokerz when really it was you who ordered my parents murder. Why do I think that? Well its simple the disk tells me secrets that Wayne Enterprises is hiding about your chemicals''
Instead of getting angry, Powers was surprised, almost impressed, "Your right, but I will tell you what give me that disk and I will let you go"
Terry thought for a minute and looked like he was going to give in, "Alright can I get it out" Powers allowed Mr. Fixx to let him go. Terry then swooped his legs, knocking Mr. Fix over and tries to run as fast. Two of Powers' security got out of the limo and shot at McGinnis, but Terry ran as fast as he could. He then decided to jump off a bridge, not sure if he was going to make it. When he did, he barely made it, he landed on his feet and rolled over before running through the tunnels. Powers' men continued firing their guns at him until they were ordered to stop.
"But Mr. Powers, what about the disk?" Mr. Fixx asked.
Powers answered calmly, "Don't worry Mr. Fixx, our friend won't get far. We will go to the police station to wait for Mr. McGinnis. If he chooses to go home, we will be waiting for him"
"Yes sir"
Powers and everyone else got into the limo and left, what they didn't know is that Terry McGinnis stepped out of the shadows. He glared at his archenemy who had left his sight, clenching his fist, he vowed to get revenge on Powers for what he had done.
Terry debated what to do, but he wasn't sure. Likely Powers would wait for him at the police station. He could go home, but it's an obvious place for Powers to find him. As long as he had the disk, he was not safe. That would leave him one place to go, Wayne Manor. Last time he had been there, he had not left on good terms with Bruce Waye, but he didn't have much of a choice. There was nowhere for him to go if he wanted to avoid Powers. Terry had no choice, he was going to go to Wayne Manor even if he was not welcomed there.
Terry had gotten out of the cab that he had taken to Wayne Manor. After giving the driver his money, Terry went to the gate. He wasn't sure where to start, but he spoke into the microphone, "Mr. Wayne, I know I am the last person you want to talk to, but I need your help. My parents were murdered and I believe it was Derek Powers. I think it had to do something with this" Terry had taken out the disk, but there was no response, but he didn't care, he proceeded to continue talking in hopes he could get Bruces attention, "This has information containing what's happening in your company. You have to do something. Maybe take a look at it?" there was still no response, almost like no one was there, or Bruce didn't care at all. Terry was getting frustrated, so he shouted as loud as he could, "You're no Batman, you're a fraud! You hear me! MY PARENTS DIED BECAUSE OF WHATS GOING ON IN YOUR COMPANY"
Before he could walk back, Terry turned around to see that the gate was open. His heart stopped, finding this unexpected. Was it possible that Bruce was listening the whole time, but didn't care to answer?
Regardless of what he thought, Terry went in staring straight ahead. When he opened the door, both Bruce Wayne and Luke Fox were both staring at him. Bruce was staring at him with his bright blue piercing eyes. Terry looked right back at him with a long stare, wondering what the old billionaire and former vigilante was going to do. Both of them looked at each other for hours until Bruce spoke sternly and coldly, "You said you needed to show me something, show it" Terry showed him the disk from his pocket. Bruce took it to take a look at it, then stared back at Terry, "Follow me" the two followed behind as they were going back to the cave. When they went to the grandfather clock, Terry noticed that a bat was not there this time, which was strange to him, but Bruce turned around looking at him again, "Don't touch anything" he then turned back around to walk down the stairs. Terry says nothing and proceeds to follow him and Luke down the dark stairs of the cave. They go down to see the bats fly in their direction. This time Terry just stared as they flew towards their direction. Bruce heads to the computer where he puts the disk in, waiting to see what was on it. Both him and Luke paid attention towards the screen while it was showing all the information that was being played. They studied it slowly, looking at everything that appeared. At the same time both of them were shocked at what they were looking at. Bruce gritted his teeth after reading through all the information, "Powers is using my family's company to make nerve gas" he then handed the disk to Terry, "Make sure you give this to Commissioner Gordon"
Terrys eyes widened, "The police? Aren't you going to do something? You're Batman"
"Was Batman"
Luke looked at Terry, who looked at Bruce back in anger, "Powers is using your company to make dangerous nerve gas and your going to stand around and do nothing?!"
Terry looked over at the glass and saw the dark Batman suit. He was going to go over and get it for Bruce, but the old man just snapped, pointing his chain at McGinnis, "Stay away from that!" He then found himself on the ground as Terry punched Bruce straight in the face. Luke ran over to make sure he was alright. Angered, both of them looked at Terry, who was even more angry at them, specifically towards Bruce, "Something happened to you and its not just because you got old. Coward"
If this was said to him while he was younger, Bruce would have his hands on that person, but he was old and couldn't move alot. Luke tried to stop McGinnis from leaving, but Bruce shook his head. The two of them just watched the teenager storm out, leaving Wayne Manor.
"McGinnis did have a point. Batman would help a lot more than the police" Luke pointed out, but Bruce didn't budget. He knew what Luke was thinking and he wouldn't allow it, "Luke, I am not giving McGinnis the suit" all he did was sit in his chair, looking out at the fire. Luke turned around and saw Terry walk out of the gate, not looking back.
It was late, but Terry was already far away from Wayne Manor after walking. He
looked at the disk before putting it back into his pocket. He was still frustrated with Bruce Wayne refusing to help him, which leaves his only option the GCPD. As much as Terry had a bad history with authority, they were his only option to get justice for his parents murder.
The station was right across from him when he heard his phone ring. He picked it up and it was Dana. Terry almost forgot he ran off on her earlier. Her parents were gone for the night. She had the whole house to herself and wanted to spend time with him after being apart for so long. When he answered it, there was a sound in the background, "Dana?" he started getting concerned.
"Terry help!" he heard her screaming, causing him to worry.
"Dana? Dana answer me, what is going on?"
"Terry, I am at your place. Some strangers are here asking where you are. AGHH"
"Dana? Dana?!" Terry started to worry. He turned back and ran back to his apartment as fast as he could.
Terry arrived, barging into his own apartment, he saw Dana being grabbed by the arm, being taken away, "Terry help me!" she cried. Two of the attackers fired their guns at him, but Terry turned to his table and pushed it forward to block the bullets, then hopped to kick one of them in the face, then kicked the other one's legs over, and hit him in the face once he fell. He then noticed Dana being taken out of his apartment. One of the attackers jumped on Terrys back, but he pulled them forward and kicked that person in the face. He then ran out, seeing his girlfriend go through the elevator. The attacker that was holding her fired his gun, but Terry hid behind the wall. Once the elevator closed, he went down the stairs even though it was a long way until he reached the lowest floor. He kicked the exit door open and saw Dana going into a limo. He ran to help her, but was knocked to the ground. He looked up to see who it was, and it was Me. Fixx that knocked him down. Terry got up to fight back, but Mr. Fixx punched him in the gut hard, causing Terry to fall on his knees in pain. He then got kicked towards the limo.
"Terry!" Dana cried again before she went inside the limo. The door closed before she could say another word. Before Terry could go in, Mr. Fixx grabbed him by the shoulder and knocked him out. When he woke up, he quickly got up to his feet. No one was there. No one, but a package that was by his feet. Terry opened it and it was a cell phone. The phone rang and Terry answered, "Hello?"
"Mr. McGinnis sorry that I wasn't there in person, but I wanted to tell you that I have your girlfriend"
Terry was quick to anger, "If you hurt her, I swear" Powers cuts him off.
"Terrance. Terrance, I would never hurt an innocent girl"
"That didn't stop you from killing my parents"
"You are right, but that was their fault. You see if your father had given me what I wanted him and your mother would be alive"
"How dare you" Terry clinched his teeth, but before he could say another word Powers cut him off, "I am willing to let the girl go of course, but there's something I need"
"Let me guess you want the disk, am I right?"
"Exactly Mr. McGinnis. Give that to me and I can guaranteed the girl can go free"
Terry makes a fist, now talking in a darker tone, "How do I know that you are telling the truth? How do I know you will keep your end of the deal?"
Powers chuckles through the phone, "You are right, you can't trust me, but if you don't give me what I want by the morning, your girlfriend dies"
"I want to talk to her first to make sure she is there" Powers did what Terry asked. He could hear Dana, terrified, "Terry please help me!" This caused Terry to squeeze his fist again before finally giving up, "Alright Powers you win, where do you want to meet?"
"Meet me at Powers Chemical Conplant. Oh and Mr. McGinnis if you try and get the police involved the girl dies" he then hung up the phone.
"Powers? Powers?!" Terry throws the phones as far as he can in his anger. He then took a deep breath, looking at the disk. He wanted to give it to Powers and save Dana more than anything, but he knew if he gave the disk, then people would die. Powers might have them killed anyway because of what Terry knows. If he went to the police, then its over, Dana will die.
Terry did get another idea. He could go to Bruce Wyane for help, but the old man didn't show any interest when he went to see him not too long ago. Terry was afraid if he did go to him again, then Bruce would tell him the same thing. Go to Commissioner Gordon. That is when he had another idea. If Bruce wouldn't help him, then Terry breaking in the cave will have to do it. He remembered the suit he was looking at. The black batsuit was a special suit. He could use that to break into the conplant and save Dana. Terry decided he would do that, he didn't care about the consequences.
Terry climbed over the gate in his black clothing, trying to make sure he didn't get caught. He climbed over the gate, looking for a way in. Hoping he would find some special entrance that could lead him to the batcave. That is when he saw something in his reflection. Terry jumped up to prepare to fight, but it was just Luke, folding his arms.
"Mr. Fox?"
"That's my name. What are you doing back here? More importantly, what are you doing?"
Terry couldn't hide it, so he decided to tell Luke the truth, "Powers kidnapped someone I cared about. He said if I don't give him the disk, he will kill her"
"Why not go to the police?" Luke offered.
"He said if any authorities are involved these days. I know Wayne won't help either, so I figured I could find something in the cave to help"
"By help, you mean the suit that you were looking at before" Luke raised his eyebrow. Terry had no choice, but to nod his head. Luke then sighed, realizing that Terry won't leave without it. Instead of fighting him, Luke decided to give in and help him out. He sighed, "Alright, follow me. Bruce is upstairs, I don't want him to see you" Luke goes inside and opens the window, allowing Terry to walk in. He quietly opens the grandfather's cloak and runs down as quickly as possible. When he got down the last stair, he cautiously looked around. He didn't see anything, but bats came his way, flying towards the direction of the case of suits. For Terry it almost felt like a sign that he was met to be here. The bats seemed to be wanting to tell him something. Terry walks over there, looking at the cave entrance, which is blocked, then looking at the updated version of the batsuit. He slowly opened it to look, he felt how smooth it was and it felt light.
Terry grabbed what was in front of it and slowly changed. Looking in a mirror, he saw himself in the batsuit. It looked clean like fresh armor. The only thing missing that the older version had was a cape, but Terry didn't care about that, he had to find a way of leaving without getting caught. He toured the cave in hopes he could find something that could lead to a way out and he did, he found in the lower part of the cave an exit. The only downside of this exit is that it required an id. Terry didn't know what he should do, so he put his hand in front and claws came out, damaging the system. The door in the cave, then opened, which allowed him to walk through. He followed through the end of the tunnel, where there was a cliff. Terry wasn't sure where he was, but he took a deep breath. He didn't care, all that was important to him was finding Dana and rescuing her. Not sure what he should do, the rockets in the suits boots automatically activated, when Terry got to the edge. Wings popped up, causing Him to fly into the night. Terry then swears to himself that he will rescue Dana, and after that he promises to make Powers pay for what he has done.
