Lily is indeed at the front of the line, and she just placed her hands to the crystal ball. Immediately, the crystal ball glows really bright, and the test conductor announces the result.
"Princess Lilyanna Valkaria, 1475 points!" The test conductor announced, and everyone from the water origin cheered.
That number may not be as high as the super numbers from other elements, but it still came from a very important individual. As a princess, it's only natural for Lily to be cheered by her people from the water origin. But, the cheers from the other origins did not come.
As Lily walked to the back, she noticed me waving her hand at her. She quickly approached me from afar, and I thought she was really sad that her number wasn't as high as everybody else. To my surprise…
BAKK!!!
The first thing she did after coming over… was punching me in the stomach.
"How did you get to be exactly 2000!? Teach me!" She angrily asked me, and I was too busy curling on the ground to say anything.
"Next time, ask something with words instead of throwing a fist…" I muttered from the ground, and Lily laughed a little at me before helping me stand back up.
"Sorry. I just needed to lay off some steam. I didn't like losing, you know?" She said so cheerfully, which made me even more pissed.
"So, you punched me??"
"I mean, I needed to get the emotions out somehow. You seem so punchable." Lily said, and the guy behind me chuckles in agreement.
"I agree." Reju said while staring down on me.
"Oh, shut up mister 2750. Aren't you supposed to be the one being punched in the face for showing off?" I quickly turned on Reju and made him my enemy, but it seems like he is way too high on his horse to be defeated by my words.
"Well, what can I say? People may try to attack me, but they simply couldn't. For I am above the heavens and beyond~." Reju said so sickeningly, and Lily only clapped at him out of respect.
While we were talking, the line was getting less and less. One thing that stayed the same was the rivalry between every origin. There are seven origins in the yard, and so far, the fire origin is the one holding the biggest number thanks to Reju with 2750 points. Below us is the lightning origin, with 2374 points. After that is the earth origin with the highest score of 1867 points. The water origin comes below that, with 1545 points.
Other than that, the other origins seemed to be struggling to obtain a big number. The highest from the darkness origin was only around a thousand two hundred, and the same goes for the wind origin. The light origin has the smallest score with barely over a thousand.
Certainly, if this goes on, then the fire origin will just win the undeclared rivalry across the origins. Well, it's a given, considering the one who competed is a literal crown prince.
"Well, it looks like the competition has become unfair because of me." Reju commented after noticing that he holds a number so high that nobody else comes close.
Lily and I turned our annoyed gazes at him, wondering why he had to blurt out such a brag. But to our surprise, the rivalry battle was not done just yet.
Another cheering of a crowd was heard, and everyone turned their attention towards it. A bright green light has taken over the yard, and it seems like it came from the wind origin line.
Wind origin…?
"Winnyssa Vaico… 3689 points!" The test conductor from the wind origin announced, and everyone in the yard turned insane.
That number was not only nearly a thousand more than Reju's, but it was also more than triple the average amount that everybody got in this yard. Simply obtaining a thousand five hundred itself is already considered highly talented. Obtaining two thousand was like a one in a million, and Reju's score was probably similar to a highly experienced origin expert with over sixty years of age.
Obtaining over three thousand was unheard of. But, halfway to four thousand is… mythical.
"How is that possible!? That's gotta be cheating, right?" The students from around us commented on this wild result, but one person seemed to be more surprised than others.
"T-That's her! That's the girl I was talking about!" Lily said to me while pointing at the simple looking girl walking back from the front of the wind origin, and from the way everyone was cheering on her, it seems like she was the one who got the score just now.
"That's… the one you met at the banquets?" I asked Lily, and she waved her hand at me.
"I'm going to go say hi. Be right back!" Lily said before leaving me and Reju on our own, and she hurriedly ran over to that girl who just got the highest score.
"Now that the princess mentioned it, I remembered that girl from the banquet." Reju commented, and I turned my attention to him.
"What do you know about her?"
"She is the daughter of a baron from the religious wind temple, but she was later adopted by a count family from Ellen. Her confusing background was what got me to remember her, but now that her talents are revealed, I can understand why it was so confusing." Reju explained the things he learned from the banquet, and I was too surprised to process it.
"The count family must've found out about her talent…" I guessed, and Reju nodded.
"And what a gold they found." Reju commented in agreement, and I was very much amazed by that result.
Amazing… the people coming to this academy are just amazing!
BOOM!!!!
All of a sudden, the sound of an explosion came from the earth origin line. Everyone turned their attention there, only to find the crystal ball was already glowing brighter than the sun above our heads.
The yellow light has eaten away everything around us, and it lasted for a few seconds before finally dying down.
That light… did not make anyone cheer. If anything, it made everyone afraid of the result. Afraid and disoriented, the test conductor of the earth origin table read the result from the tool, and he awkwardly announced the result.
"Jonah Calfman… 4107 points!!!"
That… is insane.
Everyone is in agreement. No one has spoken a word, not even a cheer. Everyone just stared in awe and fear at the man who achieved such a number so easily, wondering how can a guy like that achieve such a number.
The person who is walking to the back is quite chubby. He is not too short for a guy, but the aura of laziness and food was all we can see coming from him. And yet, a guy like him was able to achieve such a number from the crystal ball?
"I… never thought that…" Behind me, Reju mumbled out of pure shock, and I can tell he knows something I don't.
"What is it?" I asked, and Reju cannot turn his eyes away from the fat guy.
"That guy… Jonah Calfman, is the direct heir of the holy knight seat of the earth nation. The disappointing son of the great holy knight, Kayden Calfman." Reju introduced, and I was wildly in awe of his identity.
So that's… the son of the holy knight.
Oh… Oh god…
This academy is just going to be so fun, after all!!
BOOOMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!
One after another, the sound of an explosion came from the line at the far left. A bright blue light nearly blinded everyone in the yard for a split second, but the light disappeared almost instantly.
After opening our eyes again, the first thing we noticed coming from that area was smoke.
"T-The crystal ball exploded!" One of the members of the lightning origin said aloud, and everyone can tell what the source of that smoke came from.
Plenty of other test conductors ran right away the moment they noticed the smoke, and they started taking care of the explosion site. People have crowded over the destroyed crystal ball, and it's quite hard to see for me and Reju who is at the far back.
What just… happened?
A ball… exploded?
The test conductors noticed that the measuring tool for the crystal ball was barely intact, and it showed a number that could not be comprehended by normal people. After seeing the number, the test conductor for the lightning origin confirmed with the other test conductors who came over to help, and he stood up to read aloud what he found from the tool.
"Eric Axwell!! 7120 points!!!"
… Haha.
Two years ago, when I busted my crystal ball. The same tool exploded in the same manner. I touched the crystal with my hand, and the crystal ball exploded. The maids and butlers of the royal castle came running into the experiment room with worry, and they quickly took care of me worrying that I might hurt myself when the explosion happened.
But, the explosion from the crystal ball was never that big to begin with. My fourteen year old face did get covered in smoke, but my eyes were too startled by the result instead of the ball exploding.
The tool under the crystal ball was showing the number around 6500, which was absurd for a fourteen year old child to ever achieve. I'm not sure how big of a number I would get if I were to be given another chance now, though that wasn't very likely since an expensive crystal ball will have to be sacrificed.
I thought that number was absurd. I thought that the number was too stupid to be real. I never told anyone since I was afraid of the attention and what people may think of me. But now, a larger number has been announced from someone else my age.
The person who achieved that result is now walking to the back, allowing the others from his line to continue the test. Everyone kept an eye on him out of pure amazement, including me.
From his attires, he looked like any simple commoner. His clothes aren't stylish or expensive like everybody else. If anything, he is probably the only person here aside from me who was not wearing battle clothes.
But his expression, hidden underneath the long pony hair, showed me the same face I once saw when I looked at the mirror many years ago. The face of loss.
Aside from him, there were also a few other people whose number was so mind blowing. The son of the holy knight that has disappointed many, Lily's friend who came from a baron family, even Lily herself.
It seems like… the next few years of my life is going to be a lot more interesting.
