MARYAM'S POV
Thursday June 12th.
"Is it possible for someone to think another human is standing on their leg" I typed on my new phone on the Google app, maybe my questions would be answered there I was told to Google it so here I am googling it.
"Yes, it is possible for someone to feel like another person is standing on their leg, even if no one is actually touching them. This can be due to various factors, such as:
- Phantom sensations: These are feelings that occur when there is no external stimulus. They can be caused by nerve damage, neurological conditions, or even psychological factors.
- Anxiety or stress: High levels of anxiety or stress can lead to physical sensations like pressure or discomfort in the legs.
- Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, like peripheral neuropathy or multiple sclerosis, can cause abnormal sensations in the legs.
- Psychological factors: In some cases, people may experience bodily sensations due to psychological factors like hallucinations or delusions.
If you are experiencing such sensations, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying medical conditions." Google answered back, not a bad response so I might be suffering from all of these or maybe one, or am I hallucinating it? Is it all in my mind? But it felt so real I feel like it is real or maybe something is going on that I don't know about.
"Maryam... You are up?" Dana said as she raised her head up to see me staring into my phone, she sounds really tired like she hasn't had a good rest.
"Yes I am" I replied.
"Good let me go and freshen up then I would also help you get ready" she said as she walked into the bathroom.
It wasn't easy but she has started to prove herself to be different from Jane and also she has shown that she is actually here to help me and not to torture me.
Yesterday was the deal breaker for me, she helped massaged my legs after which she also helped me in practicing my walking, all I did was to stand for 5 minutes and my legs were all shaky and I couldn't bare it but it is the beginning of a great journey, I wasn't even able to stand on my own I was resting on a walker but it shows great progress at least that's what the doctor said.
"Knock knock" I heard from the door as someone was knocking on it.
"Come in" I replied and it was a nurse.
"Maryam right?" The nurse said as she walked into my hospital room with a tray of medication.
"Yes" I answered.
"I am here to administer your drug" was I on any medication? I don't remember the doctor saying he was placing me on anything besides wasn't I supposed to be discharged today? Why am I going to start a new medication? Maybe I was just over thinking everything in my head.
"Okay" I answered in a confused tone.
"Here you go" she handed the drug to me, you were prescribed 1 gram which is 10 capsules you can keep the rest and continue taking it at home till it finishes "She said as she walked out of the room, this is weird, not your typical nurse behaviour.
"Hmm" I wasn't still sure but I decided to read what was written on the bottle which she handed me, "ha" I laughed a little as I saw it was Vitamin C, guess I was just over reacting after all for vitamins.
"What's that?" Dana asked as she was shocked seeing me take down the 10 tablets at ones.
"Vitamin C" I replied with a mouth filled with it.
"Oh Vitamin C" her voice sounded calmer and more relaxed now, she was agitated initially.
"Yeah" I affirmed.
"Okay there should be no issues with that then, it's fine for you to go freshen up" she said as she wheeled my chair to my bed "get on" she said as she pointed at it.
"Get on?" I asked, was that even possible? If I could do that wouldn't I be able to walk?
"Yeah, stand, turn and sit on the chair" she said explaining what she ment the first time like it was that easy.
"I don't think I can" I replied to her, not that I don't think I can, it's not even possible for me to.
"Okay then" she said as she left the chair and moved towards me "why don't you hold my hand for support then" she said pointing at her elbow joint "don't worry you can do it, just like yesterday only thing is I am going to be your walker" she reassured me.
"Okay" well it won't hurt if I give it a try I guess, besides I am the one who desperately wants to learn how to walk.
"Come on" she said as she placed my hands on hers, I mustered every ounce of strength in me to lift myself up, it took a while but I was able to lift myself with her help and support, after which getting on the wheelchair wasn't a big deal as my body just collapsed into it, my legs gave up on me.
"Good Job, you see I told you it was in you" she said cheerfully, I was drained and was trying to catch my breath I had no energy in me and I couldn't even move places of my body that i normally could.
"Yeah" a gave a weak thumbs up to her, she really drained me, and I am here still panting heavily.
"You need a minute to catch your breath?" She asked as she stoped whelling the chair.
"No" I replied as she continued and we entered the bathroom, she helped bathe me ans she also massaged my legs as she was doing it.
It took a while but we finished and she began to wheel me back to the room, I can't believe this is me not up to a weak ago I was in the hands of thame devil in disguise that girl that calls herself Jane and now and angel sent from heaven is here to save me, I am truly lucky.
"Knock knock" I heard again at the door.
"Come in" Jane replied as the same nurse from this morning came again.
"The doctor is around, are you ready to see him?" She asked as clearly I wasn't ready to see him, I was obviously getting ready.
"In 10 minutes" Jane said as she was trying her best to get me ready on time.
"Okay, I would let him know" the nurse said as she walked out of the room.
"Finally" Jane said as she tapped my back lightly "I know you are more excited to go home than I am" she added.
"Yeah" I said with a smile on my face, I was tired of the strong pungent smell the hospital has although the cleaners do a good job in making it clean the strong smell is persistent.
"Hello, can I come in?" A voice said from outside the room.
"Yes" Jane answered and she placed my hands over the top and with that I was done getting ready.
"Good morning" the doctor said as he walked into my hospital room and came towards me "I see you are doing much better" he added.
"Yes I am" I said as he brought out his stethoscope as he began to check my pulse rate and other vitals.
"You look like you are in good shape, you would be discharged today" he said as he wrote something down on a piece of paper "and for your legs continue with the massage and also the walk therapy, that's all for today you would be coming up for check up after 2 weeks" he said as he handed me my hospital card.
"Okay" I said as he began to walk.
"That's all then, take care" he said as he proceeded to leave the room.
"Yaay, we get to go home" Dana said as she began to park our stuffs into a bag.
"Let me inform Sarah to get something ready for you to eat and also get a driver to come pick us up then, since we would be coming home soon" jane said as she proceeded to make the calls.
"My phone" I almost forgot I had one, I picked it up and placed it on my legs, that feels right I have a lot of things to Google.
"The car would be here in some minutes let's get everything ready" Jane said as she walked back into the room.
"Okay?" I said in confusion as I could barely do anything as I could not even move by myself.
"Oops sorry I forgot about your legs" she said jokingly as she continued to park everything up and I sat down and watched her, I am so glad my stay here is over.
