MARYAM'S POV
TUESDAY THE 16TH OF JUNE.
"RING RING"
"Ring ring"
"Mtcheeeewww, what's that?" I said as I tired in my bed to find my phone ringing, who could be calling me by this time? It was morning yes and I know some people's day would have started but still who is calling me by this time?
I stretched my hands out for my phone and grabbed it, after which I answered the phone "Helloooo" I said as I dragged the word "o".
"Good morning Maryam, how are you doing? It's your mom" she began the conversation, oh yes mom! I haven't gotten her number from Dana yet and truth be told it was because I forgot to do so and not because of any other thing.
"Mom? Nice to hear from you too, my baby girl" she said, even though we have only been close for a month, I still call her mom.
"Yes mom"
"What happened I asked you to get my number from Dana but you didn't, I was worried sick about you, how are you doing now?" She said.
"It skipped my mind" I said.
"Well I just called to check up on you that's all, hope you are doing okay?" She asked.
"Yes mom, I am doing fine"
"How is your treatment going? The one with Dana, she also to you to Dr. Andrew right?" My mom asked again.
"The hypnotic?"
"Yes, so I am guessing she did, how was your session with him?"
"It wasn't that great and I stoped going after the first day"
"Oh okay, no problem I just thought you were curious about anything from your past, he can dig up the subconscious and he's really good he also helped your..." She paused before she said the next word, was asking if she was not supposed to say that.
"Who?"
"Oh nevermind, he's a really good hypnotist and how is your physiotherapy session with dana going?" She questioned again.
"It's going fine" I responded as I rolled my eyes, I don't know what her motives are anyways.
"That's good, she's also one of the best in her fields I requested this from her ever since you came home and it took her a month to arrive"
"Okay ma" I replied, this is the longest conversation I have ever had with her, why is she being all chatty with me today.
"Okay, your dad is here I think I would speak to you later" my mom said as she instantly ended the call, that was so sudden, why did she do that because of my dad worked in? Strange.
I left the phone app and started scrolling on Google news "how to get your lips bigger" the first article heading read.
"How to change the lock screen password on your phone" another article read.
"Insecurity increases as many go missing in ofu and other parts of the nation" I stoped scrolling to look at the pictures they used, it sparked my interest and so i clicked on it to read more.
"7 girls were reported missing in the span of two weeks and 5 of them were from the city of ofu, this is alarming as only two have been found and sadly none of them survived after being on life support for a week" that's tragic, so I was lucky after all to be able to come out with mg both legs working and everything in me intact.
The news continues "The community suffers different attacks on the same population of young girls which has made it very alarming and also very stressful for the men also, young girls disappearing and once they are found they can not remember anything that happened throughout the time were they were being held captive" yeah just like me and the two other girls that were found, come to think of it where are the other girls?
"The girls suffer from social and mental trauma as they find their way back to the society, some that never gets to go back to their past families starts a new life in the orphanage...." The article continues but I left it, wasn't interested in it again it was just boring news at this point.
"Orphanage" I said as I rubbed my chin repeatedly, isn't that where the both of them are? I heard the police officer saying so, I wonder how their life is coming to play again.
Should I go there to see them? What would I say to them? Can I go there.
Google "are visitors allowed in an orphanage?" I quicky typed on the search bar "yes, they are allowed during visiting hours" the first reply to my question, there were other links and article to read but i have gotten my answer.
But what would I say to them? Would they even want to see me?
"Good morning ma, oh I see you are already up" Dana said as she walked into my room with a tray on her hands, did she knock on the door? Maybe it's because of the load on her hands.
"Yes I am" it was 8am already, although I usually get up 9 or 10am hence the question.
"Good I'll get you your breakfast and while you have that I would get your massage done" she said as she dropped the tray on the vanity table.
"Okay" I replied as I began to look at my phone again, I went back to the Google news section as I continued scrolling through to get myself educated on what's going on in the country and also the world.
"Here you go" dana said as she dropped my breakfast tray on my cardiac table, I did not even hear her come in, is that how much attention I pay to my phone? Wow, I sat up and dropped my phone on the bed, the way I get emerced in the phone to the extent I can't hear my environment is really bad.
"Thank you" I said as I began to eat, it was french toast and hot chocolate, I was a bit hungry so I decided to munch the food faster.
"Your legs have started to look better and a bit lively" she said as she massaged it in circles to improve blood circulation there.
"Dana" I called her name interrupting her.
"Yes" she responded to me.
"When is the orphanage visiting hours?" I asked, I want to know, I want to go see the girls I would never know if they also want to see me or not except I take the step to, besides I doubt they let them out of there.
"Oh there I don't know" she said hesitantly "I don't think you should go there" she asserted.
"Why?"
"No questions asked" the room was filled with awkward silence as she continues to massage my legs, what a weird reaction to my innocent question.
