"I really want us to break up because this relationship isn't working for either of us," Xin Yan said firmly.
"Have you stopped loving me? Have I made a mistake?" Yuan Renshu pleaded, "If there's something bothering you, please tell me! I genuinely love you, Xiao Yan! What causes you to act like that?"
Xin Yan could feel nothing but disgust as she sneered in his direction.
Did he grasp the meaning of the word 'love' at all? He revered it as a sacred emotion, yet he could not understand it.
Her emotions spoke volumes, even though she remained quiet. If he were wise, he'd comprehend.
Thankfully, he didn't disappoint her. His facial expression shifted as soon as he saw hers. He recognized her mockery directed at him.
"Can you explain this to me, Xin Yan?" he inquired calmly despite feeling upset. He found her taunts unbearable. He chose not to call her by any affectionate name.
"I'm ending this relationship; it's as simple as that," she said firmly, meeting his gaze.
"But why exactly? If you want to end things, I at least deserve an explanation," Yuan Renshu insisted.
He considered her insane. What made her suddenly decide to end the relationship?
"Since you're obviously together with Jiang Lanfen, what's the point in spending my time on you when it's clear you don't love me?" Xin Yan huffed.
In her opinion, he wasn't truly intelligent despite his top-notch degree.
"Why would you think that?" Yuan Renshu asked with a pitiful look.
"You know what? This conversation is over and so are we." Xin Yan warned, "Do not bother me further," before walking out of the conference room with Chen Wenling, leaving Yuan Renshu stunned.
"She broke up with me, didn't she?" he wondered loudly.
He pondered loudly once more, "Is Xin Yan truly serious about this?"
"Miss Xin, is your change really permanent? Chen Wenling probed, "Are you genuinely planning to end things with that horrible person?"
There's no reason to criticize Chen Wenling for posing that question. Xin Yan made a drastic and exaggerated change. She really didn't know if she could count on her change.
Xin Yan earnestly assured her, "I realize my change is harsh, and you might find it difficult to believe. But after a profound dream, I've regained my focus and will dedicate myself to the company."
Chen Wenling experienced great joy seeing Xin Yan change and wanted her to persist. The chairman will be pleased to witness her change.
Once in her office, Chen Wenling inquired, "President Xin, I've been meaning to ask: How did you discover such damning evidence against Manager Xu?"
"I'm not sure; it was dropped off at my place the night before," Xin Yan answered while glancing at a document.
Her goal was to completely understand Xin Corporation so she could plan effectively. She didn't study business management for nothing.
Chen Wenling questioned, "So, won't you look into this matter?" The situation called for an investigation.
Xin Yan scowled slightly. If Chen Wenling didn't bring it up, she would not see a need for an investigation.
Xin Yan spoke up in a rush, saying, "Never mind that; I have to visit my grandparents for supper."
She promised her grandparents she would be home early for supper. She didn't want to go back on her words.
"Alright, President, I won't hold you back then," Chen Wenling said instantly.
With gratitude, Xin Yan smiled at Lingling, whose cheeks flushing slightly.
"Thank you Lingling," Xin Yan thanked her genuinely.
'Oh my goodness, the president is just too cute; she called me by my nickname! I'm incredibly proud of myself!' As the young girl basked in joy, Xin Yan had already exited the office.
On her way to her personal parking spot, she did not know that Yuan Renshu would intercept her.
'Can you explain what this means?' she said, frowning. If he made her late, then he shouldn't accuse her of being cruel.
"Xin Yan, let's discuss. Why are you behaving this way?"
He had no clue why she acted like this. If she ends their relationship, his job at the company will undoubtedly face challenges.
"There's nothing more to say. My decision is final—I don't want us to be together anymore. Is that clear to you?" Xin Yan pressed her lips into a tight line.
As seconds ticked away, she mustered all her self-control not to punch the person blocking her path.
However, when Xin Yan's intense glare struck him, he promptly halted.
A wave of fear enveloped him unexpectedly. He experienced fear for the first time because of a woman.
"Yuan Renshu, it's over between us. To avoid losing your job, keep your distance from me." She sneered at his foolishness.
She'd be foolish to believe he would step aside for her. Walking around him seemed like a smarter choice.
Yuan Renshu redirected his eyes to her. He knitted his brows together as he speculated on what could have taken place.
She was aware of his relationship with Jiang Lanfen, but how did she discover it?
The elderly driver who had been waiting for her asked, "President Xin, what is our destination?"
He saw what transpired and realized he had never been so proud of his boss. She was lucky to notice he wasn't a decent man.
"To the old house, please. Grandma and Grandpa miss me," she said with a small smile as she gazed out the window.
She felt excited about seeing her grandparents once more.
The elderly driver nodded and replied, "Right away, President," speeding off to the old house.
