Chapter 25 - A Curious Duel

Anna watched the older boys as one of them spun the coin between his fingers, clearly confident that this simple game was entirely in his control.

She remained calm, though she could sense that Edrick was still nervous beside her.

As she looked into the boys' eyes, she recognized that typical arrogance older kids always had when they thought they could get away with anything.

This time, however, Anna wasn't going to let them take advantage of Edrick.

"I choose heads," Anna said with determination, her voice steady but firm.

The leader of the group, a tall, stocky boy, let out a small chuckle before replying,

"Then I choose tails," he said with a tone of superiority. "But it's best of three. First to get three right wins."

Anna nodded.

"Understood."

The boy glanced at his friends with a confident smile before tossing the coin into the air.
