Yuna trailed behind the security guard, her emotions simmering with a mix of irritation and humiliation. She felt like the entire school was watching her, their gaze piercing from every corner, making her skin crawl.
As they approached the waiting area, Yuna spotted Kaida, her legs crossed, completely absorbed in the book she was reading, her brow furrowed in concentration.
Kaida's tranquil energy was palpable, radiating an ethereal calmness that captivated Yuna, making her momentarily forget her annoyance. Transfixed, Yuna's eyes lingered on Kaida's serene face, her gaze drawn to the gentle furrow of her eyebrow and the intensity with which she focused on her reading, it made her wonder what she was so focused on.
Yuna's paused anger resumed. Regaining her composure, she stomped her feet, the sound echoing through the hallway, and approached Kaida, who looked up, her eyes meeting Yuna's now-irate gaze, a hint of surprise and concern flickering across her face.
Yuna's eyes narrowed as she demanded "What are you doing here?" her tone laced with irritation, her voice low and even.
Kaida's expression swiftly transformed into a warm, gentle smile, her eyes crinkling at the corners, there it was again, that smile.
"You left this behind," she said, handing Yuna her biology practice book.
Yuna's gaze fell blankly on the book, her mind struggling to comprehend that this was the reason behind Kaida's unexpected visit.
"You came all this way just to give this?... You could have simply dropped it off with the security guard" Yuna questioned, her voice tinged with subtle anger. Kaida justified herself "And your lunch," as she handed over the carefully prepared meal, the aroma of freshly cooked rice and vegetables wafting up, "I thought you might get hungry since you didn't eat breakfast."
"I could have gotten something from the school cafeteria" Yuna gritted her teeth.
"You're right," Kaida admitted, her words trailing off as she realized that her journey to the school might have been unnecessary, a sense of futility washed over her.
Yuna was about to speak when she noticed a group of students congregating near the entrance, their curious gazes fixed on them, eager to gossip and speculate.
With a swift glance around, Yuna grasped Kaida's hand, her fingers wrapping around Kaida's in a firm but gentle grip, and led her out of the room, away from prying eyes and wagging tongues of the students.
Yuna guided Kaida out of the building and onto the school grounds, where they stood beneath the majestic cherry blossom tree.
Kaida's expression remained perplexed as she gazed at Yuna, still trying to comprehend her behavior.
Yuna's annoyance was palpable as she asked, "Why did you tell the security guard you were my caretaker?"
"I did–" Kaida tried to explain, but Yuna cut her off mid-sentence.
"Listen, you're just a housekeeper hired by my mom to manage the household, not my life. Keep your distance from my personal affairs and don't come here again, understood?" Yuna's words were laced with harshness and coldness, devoid of any empathy.
