After their emotional confrontation at Drakemore's embassy, Rosa initiated a cold war against Counsellor Emma on multiple levels at the same time. Coordinating with Elise, she sent a message informing Emma that Dame Rose could no longer see her. The parchment Elise delivered included Dame Rose's assurance that she would keep her promise for another life and that her ship would sail back to Drakemore in two weeks.
In the wake of Rosa's letter, Emma tried to reach her at the royal palace only to discover that Rosa was now aiding the palace from her accommodations at the embassy. Determined not to be avoided, Emma sent multiple letters over three days, all of which were returned unopened by the embassy to her. On the fourth day and in a desperate move on her part, Emma took a carriage to the embassy to see Dame Rose but she was refused entry onto Drakemore's territory.
