Chapter 19 - Isolde's End

Rosa leaned back on her luxurious chaise longue, her feet were resting in a basin of warm scented water while two maids attended to her with the utmost care. Their fingers moved with practiced precision as they trimmed her nails and massaged her feet treating her as if she were made of the finest silk. Their gaze, however, was not always on the lady's feet, but rather on the painstakingly expensive diamond earrings on Roxan's ears.

"Shall I turn the page for you, Lady Elara?" Roxan asked with a smile.

"No need," Rosa grinned, her eyes always on that newspaper. "I'm re-reading this piece of news."

Roxan held the day's newspaper mirroring Rosa's smile. Though neither Roxan nor the other maids could read, seeing Rosa's joy brought smiles to their faces.

"May I ask, my Lady, is there good news?" the maid attending to Rosa's nails inquired, her curious green eyes sparkling.
