Chapter 36 - Chapter 36

Izuku's heart was pounding as he made his way through the bustling halls of U.A., clutching his notebook filled with hero names and sketches. He had spent the entire night brainstorming, finally arriving at the perfect name for Amelia. He couldn't wait to share it with her, but he wanted to see her reaction in person.

He finally spotted her ahead, walking briskly towards the support labs. Amelia's face lit up when she saw him, and she waved enthusiastically. "Hey, Izu! What's got you in such a hurry?"

Izuku grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "I've got something for you. Your hero name."

Amelia's curiosity was piqued. "Really? I can't wait to hear it! I'm on my way to get my hero suit, wanna come with?" Izuku nodded and followed.

They continued towards the support labs together, their anticipation building. Inside, the air was filled with the hum of machinery and the sharp scent of metal and oil. It was a hub of activity, with support students and engineers bustling around, working on various projects.

Standing by her workstation, Mei Hatsume was as animated as ever, her eyes wide with excitement. Her wild pink hair was tied back in a messy ponytail, and she was surrounded by an array of tools and gadgets. Spotting Amelia and Izuku, she bounced over with a grin that nearly split her face in two.

"Amelia! You're just in time! I've got your new suit ready, and it's absolutely amazing!" Mei exclaimed, practically vibrating with enthusiasm.

Amelia's eyes widened as she followed Mei to a nearby workbench. There, displayed in all its glory, was her new hero suit. The vibrant blue fabric shimmered under the bright lights of the lab, and the red accents added a dynamic edge to the design. The iconic "S" emblem on the chest stood out proudly, a symbol of her new hero identity.

"I took my designs from your previous supergirl design, and thought you might like that," Mei added.

"It's incredible," Amelia breathed, reaching out to touch the suit. "Mei, this is everything I hoped for and more. Thank you so much."

Mei beamed, clearly pleased with Amelia's reaction. "I'm glad you like it! I added some extra features, too. The gauntlets have improved shock absorption, and the boots are designed for better traction and speed. And the cape! It's made from a special fabric that's lightweight but super durable."

Izuku watched with a mix of admiration and excitement. "Mei, you've really outdone yourself. This suit looks fantastic."

Mei puffed out her chest proudly. "Of course! Only the best for my friends. I knew Amelia would love it."

Amelia carefully picked up the suit, marvelling at the intricate details. The red shoulder accents extended down the sides, creating a dynamic and modern look. The red trim around the waist added a touch of elegance, and the knee-high red boots were both practical and stylish. The long, flowing cape completed the ensemble, giving it a classic superhero silhouette.

"This is perfect," Amelia said, her voice filled with gratitude. "I can't wait to wear it."

Mei's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Well, don't wait! Go ahead and try it on. We need to make sure everything fits perfectly."

Amelia nodded and headed to the changing room, her heart racing with anticipation. As she slipped into the suit, she felt a surge of confidence. The fabric clung to her like a second skin, moving with her and providing both flexibility and support. She adjusted the cape and glanced at herself in the mirror, her reflection staring back with a look of awe.

Stepping out of the changing room, she struck a pose for Izuku and Mei. "What do you think?" she asked, spinning around to show off the suit.

Izuku's eyes widened, and he couldn't help but smile. "You look incredible, Amelia. Like a true hero."

Mei clapped her hands together, practically bouncing on her heels. "You look amazing! The suit fits perfectly! You're going to blow everyone away!"

Amelia felt a rush of pride and excitement. She turned to Izuku, her eyes shining. "Thank you, both of you. This means so much to me."

Izuku stepped closer, his expression was serious but warm. "Amelia, there's one more thing. Your hero's name. I've been thinking about it a lot, and I've come up with something that I think fits you perfectly."

Amelia's heart skipped a beat, her curiosity and excitement mounting. "Let's hear it, Izu. I'm sure it's perfect."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amelia joined Mirko for her first field mission that day. The city was alive with the hustle and bustle of daily life, but there was an underlying tension in the air. The mission was a routine patrol, but it served as a test of Amelia's abilities and readiness.

Mirko, as energetic and intense as ever, led the way. "Stay sharp, kid. We might run into trouble, but that's what we're here for."

Amelia nodded, her new suit feeling like a second skin as she followed Mirko through the city streets. The weight of her cape felt reassuring, a symbol of her new identity and the responsibilities that came with it.

As they moved through the city, they encountered a variety of situations—a lost child, a traffic accident, and even a minor villain causing a disturbance. Amelia handled each scenario with growing confidence, her training kicking in as she worked alongside Mirko.

During a quiet moment, Mirko glanced at Amelia, a rare look of approval in her eyes. "You're doing well, Amelia. Keep it up."

Amelia felt a surge of pride. "Thank you, Mirko. I'm learning from the best."

The city streets were quiet, the only sound being the distant hum of traffic. Amelia and Mirko had just wrapped up a routine patrol and were heading back to the agency. The setting sun cast long shadows, giving the city an almost ethereal glow.

Suddenly, a distress call came through. A building fire, with civilians trapped inside. Mirko's expression hardened, and she turned to Amelia. "This is it, kid. Time to show what you're made of."

They rushed to the scene, the air thick with smoke and the crackle of flames. Firefighters were already working to control the blaze, but the situation was dire. Amelia took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing thoughts.

She knew lives depended on her actions in the next few moments. Mirko's voice cut through the chaos, sharp and focused. "Amelia, prioritize the upper floors. Firefighters are handling the lower levels. Let's get those people out!"

Nodding, Amelia activated her suit's enhanced features. The blue fabric shimmered with an inner light as the shock-absorbing gauntlets and reinforced boots powered up. She felt the lightweight cape billow behind her, ready to assist her movements.

Amelia's first task was to assess the structure. She used her X-ray vision behind her mask, scanning the building's interior. The walls falling away and flames blurred revealed several trapped civilians on the upper floors, some in their apartments and others huddled in stairwells, trying to escape the choking smoke.

"Third floor, east side," Amelia called out to Mirko, pointing towards the hotspots. "There are people trapped in apartments 3C and 3D, and a group in the stairwell."

Mirko nodded. "Got it. I'll handle the stairwell. You take the apartments."

Amelia launched herself into action, her enhanced agility allowing her to leap from ground level to a third-floor balcony with ease. She punched through the glass door, the suit's durability protecting her from the shards, not that she needed it. Inside, the heat was intense, and the air was thick with smoke.

"Is anyone here?" Amelia shouted, her voice strong and clear despite the roar of the flames.

A woman's voice responded, shaky and desperate. "Here! We're in here!"

Amelia followed the sound to a bedroom, where she found a woman and her young child huddled together, eyes wide with fear. "Don't worry, I'm here to help," Amelia assured them, her presence radiating calm and confidence.

She scooped up the child and guided the woman towards the balcony. "Hold on tight," she instructed, wrapping an arm around the woman and securing the child against her chest. With a powerful leap, she carried them both down to safety, landing gracefully in front of a group of paramedics.

"Thank you," the woman gasped, tears of relief streaming down her face.

Amelia gave a quick nod and turned back to the building. She leapt back up to the third floor, determined to rescue more trapped civilians. The next apartment was engulfed in flames, the heat almost unbearable. She activated the cooling system in her suit, designed by Mei to provide temporary relief in extreme environments.

Inside, she found an elderly man struggling to move. "I can't make it on my own," he wheezed, coughing violently.

Amelia lifted him effortlessly, "I've got you. We're getting out of here."

With the man secured, she jumped back to the ground, where firefighters and paramedics were waiting to assist. She repeated this process several times, rescuing more civilians and bringing them to safety.

Meanwhile, Mirko was leading a group of trapped residents down the fire escape, her powerful legs allowing her to clear obstacles and her sharp reflexes keeping everyone safe. Together, they coordinated their efforts seamlessly, a perfect blend of strength and strategy.

As Amelia finished her final rescue, she noticed a young girl clinging to a ledge on the top floor, flames licking at her heels. Her heart clenched. She had to act fast. With a burst of speed, she flew upwards, her cape trailing behind her like a banner of hope.

She reached the girl just as the ledge began to crumble. "Grab my hand!" Amelia shouted, extending her arm.

The girl hesitated for a split second before reaching out. Amelia caught her just as the ledge gave way, pulling her into a secure hold. She descended quickly, landing safely on the ground where a crowd of onlookers had gathered.

A little girl, her face smudged with soot but eyes wide with awe, looked up at Amelia and asked, "Who are you?"

Amelia smiled, her heart swelling with pride and purpose. She crouched down to her level.

"I'm the Sunlit Heroine, the hero of Hope," Amelia said, her voice strong and reassuring.

The crowd took up the chant, and Amelia felt a surge of emotion. Her new hero name, given by someone she admired so much, resonated with everything she stood for. She was the Sunlit Heroine, a beacon of hope in the darkest times.
