Chapter 37 - Chapter 37

The morning air was filled with the sounds of chirping birds and the distant hum of traffic as Amelia made her way to Izuku's house. She had spent the previous day in a whirlwind of action, rescuing civilians from a burning building. Now, she was looking forward to a quieter, more personal evening with Izuku. They had grown closer since the first day they met, and Amelia was keenly aware of how much things had changed. In her old world, she had a small crush on Bakugo, drawn to his unyielding spirit. But meeting Izuku had shifted her perspective. His unwavering determination and kind heart had a profound impact on her.

Izuku

His name alone made her smile. Thinking of him brought bubbles of laughter to her lips. Spending time with him, talking to him, and getting to know him had changed her view of the story's plot. Izuku needed strong, reliable friends who wouldn't leave him behind. She wanted to be that friend.

Amelia reached Izuku's front door and knocked softly. Within moments, the door opened, revealing Izuku with his usual bright smile. "Hey, Amelia! Come on in."

"Thanks, Izu," she replied, stepping inside. The warmth of his home enveloped her, and she felt an immediate sense of comfort.

They settled into the living room, and Amelia began recounting her day. "So yesterday was intense. Mirko and I got a distress call about a building fire with people trapped inside. It was my first real experience outside of school."

Izuku's eyes widened with admiration and concern. "Wow, that sounds incredible and terrifying. How did you handle it?"

Amelia took a deep breath, her mind replaying the events. "At first, I was pretty nervous. Mirko gave me the task of prioritizing the upper floors while the firefighters handled the lower levels. I had to use my X-ray vision to locate the trapped civilians. It was surreal."

Izuku listened intently as she described her heroic efforts, saving the woman and her child, the elderly man, and finally, the young girl clinging to the ledge. "You're amazing, Amelia. You saved so many lives."

A blush crept up her cheeks at his praise. "I was just doing my job. But it was tough. The heat, the smoke, seeing the fear in their eyes... It was a lot to handle."

Izuku reached out, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "You did great. You really are a hero."

Amelia's heart skipped a beat at his touch, and she quickly changed the subject. "So, how's your training going, Izu? Any new breakthroughs?"

Izuku's face lit up with enthusiasm. "It's been going well! I've been working on mastering more precise control over One For All. All Might has been pushing me harder, and I'm seeing progress. I think I might break through to 2% soon."

Amelia's eyes sparkled with interest. "Oh, really?"

They continued chatting, their conversation flowing effortlessly. They laughed, shared stories, and enjoyed each other's company. As the evening wore on, the atmosphere grew even more relaxed and intimate.

Izuku eventually stood up and offered, "Hey, would you like some tea? My mom always keeps the best blends for you."

"That sounds lovely," Amelia replied, watching him head to the kitchen, there It was again. The bubbling feeling. A small smile played on Amelia's face as she looked at him before looking away.

When he returned with two steaming cups of tea, they sat back down, sipping the warm, comforting beverage. Amelia felt a sense of peace and happiness that she rarely experienced these two days.

They decided to watch a movie while they drank their tea, and before long, Amelia had somehow ended up curling up next to Izuku. He put his arm around her, an instinctive gesture that felt natural.

When Izuku's mom came home and greeted them, they hummed in response, too comfortable to move. Inko could only laugh to herself before stealing a picture of the two and heading to the kitchen to make dinner.

During dinner, Inko asked about school. "So, Amelia, how's everything going at U.A.? I hear you're doing amazing things."

Amelia smiled warmly. "It's been great, Mrs. Midoriya. Challenging, but I love it. The teachers are fantastic, and the training is intense. I feel like I'm learning so much every day."

Inko beamed. "I'm so glad to hear that. It's wonderful to see you both growing and thriving."

After dinner, Izuku and Amelia found themselves sitting on the couch again, this time with a more serious tone. Izuku looked at her thoughtfully. "How are your parents doing, Amelia? Have you spoken to them?"

Amelia's expression faltered slightly, and she shook her head. "No, I haven't. They... they haven't spoken to me since the USJ. It's been hard, but I try not to think about it too much."

Izuku's face softened with sympathy. "I'm sorry, Amelia. That must be really tough."

She shrugged, trying to brush it off. "It's okay. I have all of you now. And that means a lot to me."

As the evening drew to a close, Amelia felt a deep sense of connection and comfort being with Izuku and his mom. When it was time for her to leave, Izuku walked her to the door.

"Thanks for tonight, Izu," she said softly. "It meant a lot to me."

Izuku smiled, his eyes warm. "Anytime, Amelia. Remember, if you ever need anything just let me know, I'm here for you."

Amelia's heart swelled with gratitude. As she walked home, the night air cool against her skin, Amelia felt a renewed sense of hope and determination. She knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, she had the support of her friends—and that made all the difference.
