Amelia's mind raced as she hurried through the halls of U.A., her heart pounding in her chest. Izuku's smirk—how could such a simple expression evoke such a reaction in her? She had felt a fluttering sensation in the pit of her stomach, something entirely new and unexpected. It was as if her heart had skipped a beat.
Her thoughts were a whirlwind, and she barely noticed the familiar surroundings of the school. Izuku's words and the way he had looked at her replayed in her mind, making her cheeks burn with a blush she couldn't control.
She reached the bathroom and pushed open the door, grateful to find it empty. She leaned against the sink, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Her face was flushed, her eyes wide with a mixture of confusion and excitement. The cool tiles of the sink provided a stark contrast to the heat rising in her cheeks.
Amelia splashed cold water on her face, hoping it would help clear her mind. The shock of the cold water momentarily jolted her out of her thoughts, but as she looked at herself in the mirror, the reflection staring back at her seemed like a stranger.
What was happening to her? How could a simple interaction with Izuku leave her feeling so off-balance?
She gripped the edges of the sink, taking deep, steadying breaths. "Okay, Amelia, get a grip," she muttered to herself. "You have to talk to Nezu, think about your training, and figure out what's happening with this internship. Focus on that."
But no matter how hard she tried, Izuku's face kept intruding on her thoughts, his smile, his kindness, the way he always believed in her. She shook her head, trying to dispel the image, but it was no use. The fluttering sensation in her stomach persisted, making her feel both excited and uneasy at the same time.
After a few more moments of staring at her reflection, she took another deep breath and turned away from the mirror. She had to get a grip on herself, at least enough to handle the upcoming conversation with Nezu.
She stepped out of the bathroom, her thoughts still swirling around the boy who had become such an integral part of her life. Izuku Midoriya.
His name alone brought a smile to her face, but now it was coupled with a nervous excitement she hadn't felt before. She replayed their conversation, the way he had called her "his girl" so casually, and the earnestness in his eyes when he said he would be proud of her, no matter what.
What did that mean? Had he meant it as a joke? Or was there more behind his words? She buried her face in her hands, trying to sort through her emotions. How could she face him now, knowing that his smirk had sent her heart into overdrive?
She hurried to Principal Nezu's office, hoping that immersing herself in something official would help clear her head. Reaching the office, she hesitated for a moment before knocking and entering.
The room was empty, Nezu presumably occupied elsewhere in the school. Amelia let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding and stepped inside. The office, though vacant, seemed to hold the lingering presence of the principal's meticulous nature. Shelves lined with books, a desk cluttered with papers and trinkets, and the faint aroma of tea filled the room. She moved to one of the chairs by the window and sat down heavily, her thoughts still swirling around Izuku.
After what felt like an eternity, the door opened, and Nezu walked in, a cup of tea in his paw. He looked up, surprised to see Amelia already there. "Ah, Amelia, I wasn't expecting you so soon. I thought you were with Izuku. It looked important when you left the hospital room with him. I hope you didn't have any trouble finding your way here."
Amelia shook her head, trying to muster a smile. "No trouble at all, sir. I just… needed a place to think."
Nezu climbed onto his chair, placing the cup on his desk. "Well, you're always welcome here. How are you feeling after your sparring session with Mirko?"
"Fine," she replied automatically, though her thoughts were clearly elsewhere.
Nezu studied her for a moment, his sharp eyes seeming to read more than she intended to reveal. "Something on your mind, Amelia?"
She hesitated, not sure how to put her feelings into words. "It's just… a lot to take in. The provisional license, the internship, and now this new training regime with you. It's all happening so fast."
Nezu nodded, his expression thoughtful. "Change often comes swiftly, especially for those destined for greatness. You've shown remarkable strength and potential, Amelia. It's only natural that you would feel overwhelmed. But remember, you're not alone. You have your friends, your family, and me to support you."
Amelia nodded, appreciating his words but still feeling a knot of uncertainty in her stomach. "Thank you, Principal Nezu. I'll do my best."
Nezu's gaze softened. "I know you will. And don't hesitate to lean on those you trust. Sometimes, sharing the burden can make it easier to bear."
Amelia's thoughts drifted back to Izuku, and she felt a surge of warmth. Maybe sharing her feelings with him wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. But for now, she had to focus on the task at hand.
"About the internship," she said, changing the subject. "What exactly am I supposed to do?"
Nezu's eyes twinkled with a hint of mischief. "You'll be working with Mirko, of course. She's taken quite an interest in you. I believe you'll find her training methods… invigorating."
Amelia groaned inwardly. Mirko's idea of training was anything but conventional, but she had to admit, the thought of working with one of her idols was exciting.
"I'll be ready," she said, more to herself than to Nezu.
The principal nodded approvingly. "That's the spirit. Now, let's discuss the details of your new curriculum."
As they delved into the specifics of her upcoming training, Amelia found herself gradually focusing on the immediate challenges ahead. But in the back of her mind, Izuku's smile lingered, a constant reminder of the new and confusing emotions she was beginning to grapple with.
Later, as Amelia left Nezu's office, she felt a mix of determination and confusion. She had a lot to prove, not just to Nezu and the World Heroes Association, but to herself. And then there was Izuku.
Walking through the corridors of U.A., she caught sight of him in the distance, surrounded by their classmates, his laughter ringing out clearly. Her heart did that strange fluttering thing again, and she quickly looked away, feeling her cheeks heat up.
Taking a deep breath, she squared her shoulders and headed to the hospital wing. Whatever lay ahead, she would face it head-on. After all, she had a lot more than just hero training to figure out now.
