For the next few months, the mysterious man trained Gavin in a secret place to get stronger, gain new skills, and control his new powers, so he could possibly protect himself in his new life.
"Alright, first, try using your powers on me, just to see what they are."
The man tells Gavin as he stands there, waiting for Gavin to make a move,
"Uhm, actually, I don't know how to use it..."
Gavin explains awkwardly, a bit embarrassed, as the man only sighs,
"Jesus, kid... Don't keep acting like a pussy around me, you're only pissing me off more and more."
The man explains in frustration, a bit annoyed at Gavin's behavior,
"O-okay, I'm sorry!"
Gavin apologizes,
"Whatever... Just get it over with."
The man continues standing there, just waiting for Gavin to finally do something.
After a while Gavin continues managing to fail in using his power, until finally, he takes a deep breath, making a stance as he prepares to make an attack,
"Alright, here we go..."
Gavin says, taking a deep breath one more time and letting it out, as he finally throws his hands and screams at the top of his lungs,
"Ahhhh!!!"
The man continues standing there, still waiting for something to happen, as Gavin closes his eyes and finally lets it all out, expecting something, but... Nothing?
"What the hell was that?"
The man questions him, while Gavin stands there awkwardly,
"I-I don't know... I told you, I don't know how to control my power."
Gavin says with a sigh, falling flat on the floor as he stares into the sky with hopelessness,
"Well... You have to learn one way or another..."
The man says with a sigh as he continues to wait.
As Gavin continues to stand there, attempting to use his powers, the man decides to explain what powers even are,
"So, kid, you wanna know how these things work? Since you clearly have never done this before."
The man asks Gavin, who's still straining as he attempts to use his powers,
"S-sure..."
Gavin replies while continuing his struggle,
"So, basically, powers are... Well, powers; Supernatural abilities that make each human unique. About 95% of all humans in the world have powers, with all of them gaining them through an awakening, usually at the age of 10, but that's basic shit, so you should already know that."
The man says as he sits down, getting a bit impatient as Gavin's powers still aren't coming out,
"Yeah, I do..."
Gavin simply replies, as he seems to be in thought.
"sigh Well then, you know how Awakenings work?"
The man asks Gavin, who still seems to be thinking,
"Well... A bit, I know kids go wild, with their powers going haywire all over the place, right?"
Gavin answers, as the man nods,
"Yes, that is true... But, Awakenings can actually happen late, or not happen at all, like what happened with you..."
The man continues to explain, as Gavin reacts in shock and wonder,
"Huh, interesting, so that's why..."
Gavin says as he thinks, but the man then glares down at him, using a fraction of his aura to shock Gavin,
"Hey! I didn't tell ya to stop trying, kid!"
The man shouts at him, as Gavin quickly gets back to try activating his powers.
"sigh Anyway, awakenings can happen late, but the thing is, the later an awakening is, the more dangerous and powerful the outburst is, with the release of power exponentially growing by double per year. And the thing is, with awakenings, people will also automatically use their Aura Release, which can be extremely dangerous when you have an extremely high level of aura, just like yours..."
The man continues to explain, as Gavin thinks back to the military base... But quickly shakes it off, as it reminds him of the pain.
"Woah... How do I even have so much."
Gavin thinks, and the man answers,
"Well, no one really knows, all that we know is that everyone is born with Aura. But they say that God decides how much you'll have depending on what future will have."
He says to Gavin, as Gavin once again falls deep in thought,
"What... my future is...?"
He says to himself.
"So yeah, once a person awakens, they'll have an aura and power outburst, and once that's done, will now be able to use whatever power they awakened any time they want, which doesn't seem to be the case with you..."
The man says with a disappointed sigh, as he loses more and more patience by the second, while Gavin continues trying,
"Hey, I'm trying, alright?"
Gavin exclaims as he tries exerting more energy than usual,
"Whatever..."
The man replies, as he continues sitting and idling around, waiting for Gavin to finally do something.
Then finally, after a few more tries, the man runs out of patience,
"Y'know, another way to use powers, is when they automatically activate under threat..."
The man says, when suddenly, he attacks Gavin, throwing a heavy, powerful punch.
Gavin immediately reacts to this, his instincts making him dash away and roll as the man's attack completely destroys the ground. Gavin then quickly gets up as he counterattacks with a punch as well, his fists however, begin to surge with a black and red electrical aura as the man barely dodges his attack, as the punch misses, creating a heavy shockwave in the air as well, blowing some nearby trees away.
"Damn!"
The man reacts to Gavin as he steps back. Gavin's instincts however, make him continue to throw a barrage of combo attacks, as the man easily dodges all of them.
The man then blocks one of Gavin's attacks, redirecting them away, blowing more trees away, when Gavin outmaneuvers him, grabbing him by his scarf and throwing him to the ground. Gavin then locks him in and pins him down, as he makes a slap attack, imbued with the electrical energy as he finally hits the man.
The man's entire body flinches, as he starts to convulse, every inch of his body begins to explode with pain as he holds back all of his screams and groans. Gavin then gets off him as he slowly returns to normal.
"What the fuck? This shit... it hurts so bad! Is this... His power?"
The man asks himself, as he manages to get up, the pain finally going away, while Gavin also finally returns to his senses.
The man then takes a deep breath and sighs, as he fixes his composure,
"Well... pants I have an understanding of your power now... pants And, as of now, all I got is, you can apply pain, and you require physical touch to do it every time."
The man explains to Gavin as he tries to move on from the pain, meanwhile Gavin still tries to understand what's going on,
"What? Pain? Touch? Huh?"
Gavin questions in confusion, as the man only rubs his eyes in annoyance,
"sigh This is gonna be one long journey..."
He says to himself as he prepares himself for the kid's training.
After a month, Gavin spent most of the time trying to learn his new powers, while also training his physical body even more, making him stronger, as the man also taught him new fighting techniques to help him later on.
One day, Gavin and the man are training again, as the man decides to teach Gavin a new lesson,
"Alright, kid, this time, let's go back to an older thing I told you about. This time, I'll teach you about Aura."
The man tells Gavin as he decides to give him a demonstration.
The man then takes Gavin to an open field, as he then closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, relaxing himself, before aggressively opening his eyes, revealing his bright green irises as they glow bright, releasing a powerful burst of energy in waves.
Each second, a powerful shockwave from him is released as trees and grasses everywhere are blown away, the sky is cleared as the clouds are also pushed miles away with each burst. Meanwhile, Gavin stands there amazed, but at the same time, wondering why he isn't affected, before the man finally stops his Aura Release.
"What you just saw there, is an Aura Release, a powerful attack that anyone with any level of aura can use it, that was the attack that guy who used lava kept using to take everyone down."
The man explains as he walks over to Gavin, who's still shocked, amazed, yet confused.
"Damn, that's sick. But, one question though, how'd I not get affected?"
Gavin questions him,
"Well, it's easy, with aura, you can actually manipulate what to target and what to not target, but you have to have an insane mastery over your aura for this."
The man continues to explain.
"Damn, I see... So, what can aura actually do? I know it can like, destroy stuff and all that but... what else?"
Gavin continues questioning the man, as he then answers,
"sighs So, aura is pretty complex, in its simplest form, its basically used only to distort your opponents, paralyzing them or just making them unable to do certain things. However, if you know how to use it well, you can also imbue aura into attacks, like this..."
The man continues explaining, as he then clenches his fist, imbuing his aura into it, giving it a green glow as powerful levels of energy flowing out of it, nearly taking out Gavin.
"Jesus..."
Gavin says as he feels himself getting dizzy and falling unconscious,
"Heh, yeah... Aura is really powerful, and everyone is born with it, some people just don't know how to let it out, but in some cases, they always have it out and don't know how to let it in, or vice versa."
The man says as he then deactivates his aura imbued fist, allowing Gavin to recover.
"Now then, another way to use aura is by imbuing it into your senses, your mental, emotional and intellectual states, yes, it's possible."
The man says as Gavin decides to sit down and listen,
"Imbuing aura into your senses and mental state normally takes a lot of mastery, but you, somehow, already got it."
The man says, shocking Gavin,
"Wait, really?"
Gavin exclaims in confusion, questioning the man,
"Yeah, kid, you know how you can sense attacks before they even happen? That's aura, naturally imbued into your instincts. You're basically one of a kind."
The man says with a sly smile as he then walks off,
"And that's basically it, aura, I just simplified it as much as I could so someone like you can understand."
The man says with a slight smile, before hiding it under his scarf,
"I see..."
Gavin says as he thinks about it and keeps it as a mental note.
"Yeah... now then, let's resume training, by the time we finish, I expect you to be able to manipulate your aura, you a have a lot of it y'know."
The man says, as Gavin then groans, falling flat on his back once again down on the grassy field, tired after training for so long.
3 months pass, Gavin is still training with the man in the secret area. Gavin is now capable of using his aura much easier now, he can also now use his Pain Application power on command, and his physical and offensive abilities have also been greatly(and I mean greatly) increased since, now completely mastered Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Kung-Fu, Taekwondo, Judo, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts, in only three months.
"Alright, boy, I've taught you how to do offense for the past 3 months, now it's finally time to focus on defense."
The man says as they just finished a training session with Gavin, with Gavin once again flat on the ground, panting in exhaustion,
"D-damn... Alright... I got it."
Gavin says, breathless from all the excessive training, yet he doesn't seem to be fatigued at all, as he then gets up and cracks his neck.
"Alright, kid, get up, all that martial arts won't do shit if we don't try it out."
The man says with an evil grin, as for the first time in a while, he pulls out his enormous blade, unsheathing it from the bandages that cover it.
"Woah, what the hell... You're using your sword?"
Gavin exclaims, terrified at the sight,
"Heh, duh, of course, can't use my bare fists since you'll easily counter with all that pain shit, I can't even touch you with that overpowered ability, it's like your own version of aura..."
The man says with a sigh, as he picks up his sword, requiring both hands to even just hold it up.
The man's sword is actually an ancient, legendary blade called "Undead", it's a sword from legend that's apparently been owned by a renowned bounty hunter in the past, but no one knows where he is now. The sword is around 3 entire fucking meters long, with a weight of around 3 tons, yes, 3 whole tons. The sword also has a special ability, in which it can manipulate the souls of the dead, either transmuting them into blue flames, or just straight up absorb them to increase the sword's size, mass or power.
"Alright, kid, you ready?"
The man asks Gavin as he points the blade straight at him, as Gavin could only gulp nervously while he prepares his fighting stance,
"Please hold back, please let me live, please hold back, please let me live!"
Gavin thinks to himself repeatedly as he prepares to face off against his master,
"I just hope this kid is actually worth it as a disciple, otherwise I just wasted 3 whole months of my time."
The man thinks to himself as he faces off against Gavin.
After a few moments, the man then finally charges at Gavin as he makes the first move, with Gavin using Aura Release to slightly make the battle easier, while also imbuing some into his fists. However, the man easily breaks Gavin's Aura Release towards him as he uses his own Aura Release, tearing it apart and knocking everything in front of him down, as Gavin falls to his knees.
The man then jumps up as he prepares to strike Gavin with the sword, putting in maximum power, but Gavin quickly dodges it with his instinct, as the sword hits the ground, splitting it apart, creating a huge ravine that even tore apart a nearby mountain.
"Jesus Christ! You're gonna kill me with that!"
Gavin exclaims as he sees the aftermath,
"C'mon kid, at this point, with all that training, you should be able to handle that, and also... Why the FUCK did you dodge? You're supposed to block!"
The man yells angrily at Gavin as he prepares another attack,
"Block...? BLOCK HOW!?"
Gavin exclaims, as the man then charges at Gavin once again, moving in a tornado-like motion, spinning his sword around. Gavin manages to avoid this once more this by jumping over it, but the man quickly catches Gavin and grabs him by the leg before throwing him to the floor, as the man then stabs Gavin through his torso.
"AHHHHHH!!!!!"
Gavin yells in pain as he feels the sword pierce his chest,
"And, gone... welp, 3 months, gone."
The man simply sighs, as he picks up the sword and walks away,
"WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THAT!?"
Gavin continues to exclaim, screaming in pain as he lays there rolling around as his blood spills on the grass below him,
"You were supposed to block, why didn't you do that?"
The man simply replies, before turning and continues to walk away.
"F-fuck you man..."
Gavin says in annoyance as he falls unconscious...
Suddenly, Gavin's chest wound begins to glow, as it begins to regenerate,
"AHHHHH!!! IT HURTS, IT HURTS SO BAD!"
Gavin wakes up immediately and exclaims, as the man turns back to see the spectacle,
"Oh my... That is interesting..."
The man says as he watches it all happen.
In the span of 3 seconds, Gavin's chest has completely regenerated, and he's completely fine,
"What the fu-... What was that..."
Gavin says, terrified, panting heavily in shock as to what just happened.
"Well, looks like I don't have to teach you to block after all... It looks like you have more than one power, and it's regeneration! Even allowing you to fully heal with life threatening injuries."
The man says with an impressed smirk, before hiding it under his scarf once again,
"If I would say... we're kinda similar..."
He continues to say with a smile as Gavin tries to push himself up, but still shaking from the recent experience.
"No wonder you don't get fatigued even after all of those workouts, you heal almost immediately!"
The man continues to talk, as Gavin then gets up, turning to him angrily as he walks towards him, before pulling him back by his scarf,
"You fucking bitch... Just because I can regenerate doesn't mean I'm fine! Regenerating hurts like hell-"
Before Gavin can continue, he's cut off by the man, literally, as the man slices him in half.
"AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! OH GOD, OH GODDD!!!"
Gavin continues to scream in pain and horror, as the man only gets up and fixes himself,
"Okay, kid, first of all, do NOT touch me, or speak to me that way, ever again."
The man says coldly, as he fixes his scarf, while Gavin painfully regenerates in only a few seconds from getting cut in half,
"And oh yeah, in rare cases, people can awaken more than one power, like yours luckily."
The man explains once more as Gavin lays convulsing and screaming in pain on the ground.
"Finally, a reason for me to beat you up without regret..."
After 2 more months have passed, Gavin continues to master his skills, powers, and his aura, while also physically training his body to get stronger and stronger with each day, and also, actually learning how to block, parry and dodge manually.
"Alright, kid, next up, weaponry."
The man goes up to Gavin as he then suddenly throws him a sword, which Gavin takes,
"Wha... I don't need this though!?"
Gavin exclaims, as the man suddenly pulls out his own sword, setting up his stance as he once again prepares to fight.
Before Gavin could continue saying anything, the man immediately charged, as Gavin instinctively blocked with his sword.
"That's what I'm talking about, a block!"
The man says with excitement as he steps back, as he launches a barrage of heavy attacks at Gavin, as he somehow manages to parry them all, imbuing his sword with his aura to make sure it doesn't break easily.
The two continue to clash swords for the next few hits, as Gavin soon manages to outmaneuver his master once again, before managing to imbue his Pain Application into his sword,
"Serration!"
Gavin shouts as he cooks up a new move, managing to slice his master's hand, causing him to drop his sword and scream in pain as Gavin's power activates on him,
"Ahhh!!! Shit! Dammit... Y-you got me there, kid..."
The man says with a strained voice as he falls to the floor, panting and groaning in pain, while Gavin stands above him, smiling down at him as he finally beat him for once.
After one more month of training, the man finally concludes their training,
"Alright, kid, we're done here, I've taught you the basics of everything you need to know about this world's abilities, powers and fighting, that you can understand at least... But anyway, you're good to go, strong enough to defend yourself and prove yourself with a title like, "Most Dangerous Criminal in the World"."
The man says as he stands in front of Gavin,
"Y-yeah, guess that's it, huh."
Gavin says with a sigh,
"Yep, that's all... what? You still wanna spend some time with me or something? I'm not your dad, kid."
The man says jokingly for once, giving off a slight chuckle as he turns away.
"Yeah, sorry, my bad..."
Gavin replies awkwardly as the two men face each other once more in the once chaotic, now silent forest.
"And, for a parting gift, I made you this..."
The man says as he hands Gavin his own sword, a long ass blade with a serrated edge,
"A sword that fits you, perfect for inflicting pain!"
The man says with a sly smile, hiding it under his scarf, as Gavin chuckles a bit,
"Thanks..."
Gavin replies, looking down at his new weapon, before looking back up at his master who's trained him for the past 6 months.
"Well then, off you go, see ya, my disciple. Good luck on your journey..."
The man says, waving him off, as Gavin turns away to go off on his own adventure as well.
"See you too, master..."
Gavin replies as he continues walking away.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you!"
The man calls out to Gavin one more time, as Gavin turns back towards him,
"The name's Zom, remember that, kid..."
The man says with a nod,
"Once again, good luck on your journey, and revenge."
He says one more time, before turning around and vanishing immediately.
Gavin's eyes widen, as he suddenly remembers what he's doing this all for...
He then smiles, before putting on a serious, determined face, before turning away once again, and finally going on his own journey....
