Chapter 46: What's The Problem?

**Villain's Lair - A Darkened Chamber**

**Villain**: (Holding the world fragment, examining it closely) "This should work. I can feel its power coursing through it. It must be mine!"

**Subordinate 1**: (Nervously) "Master, are you sure it's safe? We haven't fully understood the consequences of merging just one fragment."

**Villain**: (Dismissively) "Do you doubt my power? I have defeated the Guardian and claimed this fragment. It belongs to me now."

**Subordinate 2**: (Timidly) "But, master, what if the legends are true? They say merging without all fragments could lead to dire consequences."

**Villain**: (Angrily) "Silence! I will not be swayed by baseless fears. Prepare the ritual."

The subordinates, wary but obedient, set about preparing the chamber for the merging ritual. Dark symbols were drawn on the floor, candles lit, and ancient tomes consulted. The villain stood in the center, holding the fragment aloft, a dark aura emanating from it.

**Villain**: (Chanting) "By the power within, I command you to merge with me. Become one with my essence and grant me the strength I seek!"

As the ritual intensified, the fragment began to glow with an eerie light. It pulsed and vibrated, resonating with the dark energy in the room. The villain's eyes glowed with a manic intensity as he felt the fragment's power starting to merge with his own.

**Villain**: (Through gritted teeth) "Yes... Yes! I can feel it!"

Suddenly, the glow intensified, and a shockwave of energy erupted from the fragment, throwing the villain and his subordinates to the ground. The room filled with a deafening roar as the fragment resisted the merging.

**Villain**: (Staggering to his feet) "No! Why isn't it working?"

**Subordinate 1**: (Crawling up) "Master, it seems... it seems the fragment is rejecting you."

**Subordinate 2**: (In a panic) "We have to stop! If we continue, it could destroy us all!"

The villain, now furious and desperate, clutched the fragment tightly. He could feel his own energy being repelled, and a painful feedback loop started to form.

**Villain**: (Roaring) "I will not be defeated by a mere fragment! I command you to obey me!"

But the fragment's resistance only grew stronger. The energy backlash became unbearable, and the villain screamed in agony, finally collapsing to the ground. The fragment's glow dimmed and stabilized, lying inert beside him.

**Villain**: (Weakly) "Why... Why can't I merge it?"

**Subordinate 1**: (Cautiously approaching) "Master, perhaps... perhaps the legends were true. Without all fragments, attempting to merge them individually will only lead to destruction."

**Villain**: (Gritting his teeth) "Curse this wretched thing! If I can't merge it now, I'll need to find another way."

**Subordinate 2**: (Nervously) "Master, what will we do now?"

The villain struggled to his feet, his eyes burning with a renewed, focused determination.

**Villain**: "If merging them individually is impossible, then I will have to collect all the fragments first. We must find a way to get the remaining fragments from Alex."

**Subordinate 1**: "But how, master? Alex and his team are powerful and determined."

**Villain**: (Smirking) "We will have to be smarter. We will use deception and strategy to outmaneuver them. They must not suspect our true intentions until it's too late."

The subordinates nodded, their fear of their master's wrath outweighing their doubt.

**Villain**: "Prepare the spies. We need to gather every bit of information about Alex's movements and plans. We must stay one step ahead at all times."

**Subordinate 2**: "Yes, master. We'll start immediately."

**Villain**: (Darkly) "Good. And remember, we cannot afford any mistakes. The success of our mission depends on absolute secrecy and precision."

As his subordinates scattered to carry out his orders, the villain stood alone in the chamber, contemplating his next move. The fragment lay at his feet, a potent reminder of his failure and his ambition.

**Villain**: (To himself) "Alex, you may have bested me this time, but I will not be deterred. I will claim all the fragments, and then, not even the gods will stand in my way."

**Villain's Lair - War Room**

The villain sat at a large, dark table covered in maps and documents. His subordinates were gathered around, each tasked with different aspects of their sinister plot.

**Villain**: (Pointing to a map) "Our spies have reported Alex's recent activities. They've been tracking down the fragments with surprising efficiency. We need to create diversions, false leads that will slow them down."

**Subordinate 1**: "We could plant rumors about a fragment in the distant northern lands. It would take them weeks to investigate."

**Villain**: "Good. Do that. And ensure that our operatives are ready to spread these rumors convincingly. We must make it believable."

**Subordinate 2**: "What about direct confrontation, master? Perhaps a series of ambushes to weaken their resolve?"

**Villain**: (Considering) "Possible. But Alex is not easily intimidated. We need to weaken him indirectly. Target his friends, create chaos and doubt within their group."

The subordinates nodded, already planning how to execute their master's orders. The villain leaned back in his chair, his mind whirling with schemes and stratagems.

**Villain**: (Darkly) "Alex, you think you're safe, but you have no idea what's coming. I will find your weaknesses, exploit them, and take what is rightfully mine. The fragments will be mine, and I will become the ultimate power in this universe."

As the villain's laughter echoed through the chamber, his subordinates hurried to put his plans into action. The stakes were higher than ever, and the battle for the world fragments had only just begun.
