-------------------------------------------------------------

At the doorway of the lounge, Jiraiya's once smiling face turned awkward.

Because of yesterday's events, Izumi's impression of Jiraiya had turned negative, so naturally, she wouldn't give him a friendly face. She even started calling him "Pervert Lord."

'My reputation as the Toad Sage is probably ruined,' Jiraiya thought, looking up at the sky speechlessly.

"Do you need something?" Kazuki asked as he walked out of the lounge, sizing up Jiraiya. The smell of alcohol was gone, his beard was shaved, and his messy hair was cleaned up, making him look much more presentable.

Kazuki couldn't understand why Jiraiya had gone through all this trouble but still wore his tattered clothes. A set of new clothes wouldn't cost much.

"Ha ha ha, yesterday you weren't so respectful, why the change today?" Jiraiya laughed awkwardly, avoiding eye contact with Izumi, whose disdainful eyes made him uncomfortable.

"If you want me to speak like that, I don't mind obliging you!" Kazuki said, raising an eyebrow and emphasizing his tone.

"Please don't," Jiraiya quickly replied. "Just like this is fine. I feel we get along well and could be friends. Please, don't call me 'Lord,' it feels awkward."

He even winked at Kazuki.

"How about we find somewhere to talk?" Jiraiya suggested.

"Sure," Kazuki agreed, leading Jiraiya out of the police department. As for being friends, Kazuki thought, that's unlikely. Given the relationship between the Uchiha and the village, being friends with someone from the higher-ups would be laughable.

Once they left the police department, Jiraiya couldn't hold back any longer.

"I'm here to ask for your help. I want to stay in the village for a while to make up for what Naruto has missed, but I don't know what kids like. Also, I don't have anyone in the village I can talk to, so I came to you."

To Jiraiya, Kazuki, who constantly mocked and spoke sarcastically to him, was more agreeable than those who treated him with utmost respect.

For most kids, Jiraiya knew what they needed, and if not, he could ask around. But Naruto wasn't like other kids. After thinking it over, he decided to seek help, and Kazuki was the only suitable person he could think of.

Kazuki gave Jiraiya a disdainful sideways glance.

"The best way to get along with Naruto is to change those ragged clothes of yours and then go directly to his school teacher. Talk to Naruto in front of the teacher, tell him you are his father's teacher and a close family member, that you've been away on a mission but are now back and want to live with him."

"Then, take the crying Naruto to buy some new clothes, take him to eat some good food, stay by his side, and tell him stories."

"And then?" Jiraiya asked, scratching his head anxiously.

Kazuki swatted his hand away.

"What 'then'? I've already explained everything. Don't you get it? Compared to material needs, Naruto needs family companionship more. His heart is empty. As long as you replace his parents and give him the warmth of family, he will be happy."

Naruto was a simple-minded child with few needs, but no one could give him what he needed. It was good that Jiraiya returned early. In the original story, Jiraiya returned when Naruto was already grown, causing him to miss many things.

"It's that simple?" Jiraiya asked.

"What else?"

"The rest is up to you. Don't bother me unless necessary; I'm tired of being monitored."

Half an hour later, in a clothing store in the commercial district, Jiraiya changed into new clothes and asked, "Kazuki, how do these look?"

"Great, perfect..."

His taste in clothes was horrendous. Kazuki wanted to cover his face and pretend not to know him. With those clothes, he'd be better off wearing his old ones to meet Naruto.

Unable to stand it, Kazuki picked out clothes for Jiraiya and some for Naruto, then reserved a private room at a barbecue restaurant before heading to the ninja school.

In the office, the teacher was reviewing the students' homework when the door was forcefully pushed open, startling him.

"Hello, teacher. I'm Naruto Uzumaki's guardian. I'd like to see him. Please call him to the office."

What is this?

Looking at the rude intruder making unreasonable demands, the teacher was dumbfounded.

Naruto Uzumaki's guardian?

You must be joking!!

Iruka, who knew Naruto's background well, felt the urge to call the ANBU and the police. Who is this lunatic claiming to be Naruto's guardian? Why not say you're his grandfather?

"Please leave. Don't joke around at the ninja school, or I'll call for help," Iruka sternly reprimanded Jiraiya.

"I..."

Jiraiya wanted to explain, but Iruka, in his anger, didn't give him a chance.

"What do you mean, 'I'?" Iruka continued to scold. "Aren't you ashamed, coming to the ninja school with such jokes? Do you want me to call the police? Get out..."

While scolding, Iruka noticed Uchiha Kazuki leaning against the doorframe, laughing hysterically.

Blinking and recalling, Iruka realized that Kazuki was from the police department.

"I really am Naruto Uzumaki's guardian!!!" Jiraiya was close to collapsing. Do I look like a liar? Why does no one believe me when I tell the truth?

"Nonsense," Iruka still didn't believe him.

"Hahaha..."

Kazuki was laughing so hard he was almost out of breath. This was too funny.

Why are you laughing?!

With a dark face, Jiraiya wanted to strangle Kazuki.

Taking a deep breath, Jiraiya continued to explain:

"My name is Jiraiya. Naruto's father was my disciple, so I really am his family. If you don't believe me, ask him. He's the captain of the police department. He can vouch for me. If you still don't trust an Uchiha, you can ask at the Hokage's office."

"Jiraiya... sir?" Iruka was skeptical. The Sannin had been away from the village for so long that many young ninjas didn't know them well. Iruka was one of them.

Although unfamiliar, he had seen photos and portraits. The ninja academy promoted even those who started poorly but turned out to be geniuses.

Iruka glanced at the photo on the office wall. Comparing it with the person in front of him, despite being older, the features matched.

I just scolded Lord Jiraiya?
