Danzo could tolerate being indirectly insulted in front of everyone, but Kazuki went too far by mocking him for being a lonely man without a family. That was unacceptable for anyone.

"Uchiha Kazuki!"

An angry shout interrupted. Fugaku had arrived after being notified, and he yelled at Kazuki, "What are you doing? Why are you speaking so rudely to the advisor? Go on patrol now! Have you forgotten your duties and tasks?"

Good job, Kazuki thought, wanting to give Fugaku a thumbs-up. The usually timid clan leader was finally showing some backbone.

Kazuki smiled silently, shrugged at Danzo, and spread his hands in a helpless gesture. "Then I won't disturb the clan leader and the advisor."

"Third Squad, follow me. Don't stay here and bother the elderly. Old men without families tend to have bad tempers. Be careful, or they might scold you."

The squad members followed silently, either not daring to breathe loudly or stifling their laughter. For example, Jiro, the big guy, was shaking slightly from holding back his laughter.

In the Uchiha clan, Kazuki set a precedent. Those who knew Danzo hated him, but they could only hide their anger. Kazuki, however, openly insulted him in front of everyone. Danzo called him a brat; Kazuki called him an old rat or snake lurking in the shadows. He didn't name names, but if Danzo took it personally, that was on him. To other Uchiha, Danzo was a high-ranking village figure; to Kazuki, he was nothing.

As long as Danzo didn't play dirty, Kazuki didn't care about him. If Danzo did, Fugaku would protect Kazuki. If Kazuki got into trouble, many in the clan would lose faith in Fugaku as their leader. Fugaku, unwilling as he might be, had to protect Kazuki.

That's why Fugaku rushed over as soon as he was notified, ostensibly scolding Kazuki but actually protecting him.

"Clan Leader Fugaku, your Uchiha people are truly lawless!" Danzo, filled with anger, turned his fury on Fugaku.

"Please don't be angry, my lord. Kazuki is just a child. I will educate him, and this won't happen again." Fugaku accepted the criticism. He had to smooth things over.

"Hmph," Danzo snorted coldly. "There won't be a next time. Bring my men out."

The threat was clear. If Danzo found a chance, he wouldn't hesitate to eliminate Kazuki to quell his anger.

He came for his men, as Fugaku had guessed. Fortunately, Fugaku had prepared an explanation when the police force arrested them the previous night. "My lord, there are no people of yours in the police department. However, last night, two unidentified individuals attacked Kazuki and were arrested. They're now in prison. You might want to check there."

"You..." My men, unidentified and imprisoned? Danzo couldn't accept it. His men were in jail?

"Very well, I will remember this!" Danzo, a high-ranking village elder, was not skilled in verbal sparring and couldn't retort like Kazuki. Despite his anger, he had to endure it, planning to settle the score later.

Knowing his men were in jail, Danzo knew the Third Hokage would learn of his embarrassment. His hatred for Kazuki deepened. After casting a sinister glance at Fugaku, Danzo left, leaning on his cane.

Izumi was stunned. She had hoped for a smooth induction, but instead, she witnessed her captain cursing out a high-ranking village elder.

Feeling her future darkening, Izumi followed Kazuki numbly, unable to remember the patrol areas of the Third Squad.

"Scared?" Kazuki asked, stopping at a small shop and buying some skewers, handing them to Izumi.

"Thank you, Captain," Izumi said, dazed. After a few seconds, she quickly bowed in gratitude, holding the skewers and debating whether to eat them. Finally, unable to resist, she started nibbling.

After eating two skewers, Izumi began to relax, her fear subsiding. Sweet food seemed to lift her mood.

"People seem very afraid of us," Izumi noted, realizing that as she and Kazuki walked, people either stepped aside or gave them angry and resentful looks.

"Yes," Kazuki replied. "Now that you're in the police force, you'll face this daily. It's due to the police force's bad reputation. Maintaining order often involves unpopular actions, so people fear the police, not the Uchiha specifically."

Kazuki shook his head regretfully. "These villagers fear the police, not the Uchiha. Of course, our clan's actions contribute to this. Uchiha are often targeted and ostracized at the Ninja Academy."

Izumi, having experienced this herself, understood. Children from civilian families avoided her, and even clan children stayed away because she was an Uchiha.

"Those who look at us with anger often have been arrested by the police or have family and friends who were."

"Many complaints about our violent enforcement come from those unhappy about being arrested. They can't retaliate, so they file complaints to annoy us."

Maintaining order means dealing with many troubles, inevitably making enemies. Over time, the Uchiha are rarely welcomed. The village doesn't promote the good side of the Uchiha but scrutinizes their mistakes, worsening their reputation.

Look at the Hyuga clan. They treat civilians arrogantly, yet how many criticize them? Very few, if any.
