"This period of time, besides the Police Department and the clan grounds, don't go anywhere else. Let others take over your patrol duties."

As the clan leader, your word is final.

Kazuki had no objections to this. Taking paid time off and slacking off was not a bad idea.

"Oh right."

Kazuki had already walked to the doorway when Fugaku's voice came from behind him.

"Don't blame Shisui. He had no choice in the matter either. Actually, Shisui is a very gentle person. That's how he is with outsiders and with his own people."

"I know, but I also have no choice."

Shisui is a good person, but unfortunately, he has no will of his own. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been easily brainwashed by the higher-ups.

But if he's in a difficult position, then what about me?

To unite the Uchiha and stir up various things, it's not easy for me either!

If I'm understanding him, who will understand me?

Kazuki no longer held any hope for Shisui.

As long as the other party doesn't come out to hinder him, that's fine.

"I will reorganize the teams at the Police Department. I think it's necessary to add a few more squadron leaders. I'll discuss this with the elders. I hope you can lead your people well."

What does that mean?

Reorganize?

Kazuki didn't understand why Fugaku would have such an idea.

Currently, the Police Department's position assignment is already quite standard.

After all, the Uchiha have worked hard for many years, and just because the Uchiha are proud doesn't mean they are stupid.

Yet Fugaku decides to reorganize at such a critical moment.

The reorganization of the Police Department would likely bring significant changes to the Uchiha.

The office quieted down. Fugaku pressed his hands against the table, his face against the desktop. Suddenly, he groaned and fresh blood flowed down his eye sockets.

Covering his eyes with a towel, Fugaku breathed heavily, leaning against the back of his chair, murmuring to himself, "How is it possible?"

After resting for a while, the dizzy Fugaku returned home.

It was in his home that he saw Itachi playing with his younger brother Sasuke. As soon as he saw his father return, Itachi hurriedly bowed and greeted, "Father."

"Uh-huh."

Fugaku, who had already recovered, replied indifferently, asking, "How is Sasuke doing at school?"

"Of course, I'm going to become as strong as my brother."

Self-praising, Sasuke grinned broadly.

Before the massacre of the family and the death of the parents, Sasuke was very cheerful in character and liked to show off his achievements in front of his brother and father, hoping to get praise from them.

"You really are my son."

Fugaku rarely showed a smile, pampering his son by rubbing his head.

"Go upstairs and play. I have something to discuss with your older brother."

"Oh~"

Sasuke was somewhat hopeful. He liked sticking around his father and older brother, but faced with his father's stern face, he could only obediently go upstairs.

Quietly kneeling on a cool mat, Itachi awaited his father's teachings.

Sitting cross-legged, Fugaku casually asked, "You've heard about what's been happening between the clan and the Police Department. How do you assess Kazuki's performance?"

"Yes."

Itachi slightly bent over and then straightened his body, calmly looking at his father as he replied, "Father, I think Kazuki's intentions were good, but his methods were too aggressive and disrespectful to the elders."

Changing the Uchiha's current situation, solving some of the troublesome issues for the Uchiha—that's what Itachi wanted to do but couldn't. He couldn't even bring it up.

Kazuki was alone, except for a few young followers. He could say and do as he pleased without fear.

Confronting the six elders head-on, Itachi had no issues. In Kazuki's place, however, it would be impossible.

If Itachi had made a move against the six elders, it would have amounted to nothing. If he had made the same move, he would have been slaughtered.

"Is that truly what you believe, Itachi?"

Fugaku's tone grew severe.

Facing his father's sudden change in attitude, Itachi bowed slightly, respectfully answering, "Yes, Father. While Kazuki may have seemed disrespectful, everything he did was for the sake of the clan. The Police Department's complaints have long been a burden on everyone, but now they have been resolved quite well."

"Moreover, his insights were quite profound."

"Some issues are not impossible for the clan to resolve, but there has been no one willing to address them."

These words contained veiled criticisms, suggesting that his father might be incapable, but Itachi still voiced them.

"But his actions may cause the village to become more hostile towards us Uchiha, inevitably increasing surveillance and control."

Fugaku wasn't concerned with these topics either, directly bringing them up and discussing them with his son.

Itachi fell silent.

He had learned about these matters from Shisui, and as he pondered these matters, he was deeply troubled.

From the Uchiha's perspective, Itachi didn't think Kazuki had done anything wrong. However, by doing these things, he had only made it easier for the village to scrutinize and control their activities.

Seeing his son fall silent, Fugaku didn't press him further. Instead, the father and son sat together in silence.

After what seemed like an eternity, Fugaku finally broke the silence, as though testing his son's temperament.

"During this time, don't go see Shisui. I'll reorganize the Police Department's squads, and since Shisui will be reassigned, his position will become vacant. I hope you can fill it and work with Kazuki."

"Understood, Father."

Itachi obediently accepted his father's arrangements without any resistance or discontent.

As though he were destined to be Itachi Uchiha.

At night.

Shisui, who had spent the day busy and questioning his life choices, arrived at the clan head's residence.

The guards of the clan head's residence had already gone to rest, leaving only Fugaku sitting in the courtyard drinking tea.

"Clan leader."

Wearing tight-fitting black clothes, Shisui entered the courtyard, bowing respectfully to Fugaku.

Fugaku calmly set down his teacup and slowly raised his head. "That job over there must be quite a headache."

The department responsible for handling complaints had been established, and the Third Hokage had not reneged on his promise, setting things in motion for Fugaku.

However, the progress of the department's personnel in handling complaints had been less than ideal.

For those who could go all the way to the Hokage's office to complain, they either fell into the category of being unrelentingly persistent or they hated the Police Department or the Uchiha clan.

Facing these people, no amount of talking could do much for them.

Thus, it was no surprise that, after just one day on the job, Shisui felt mentally and physically drained.

"It's tough."

Shisui forced a wry smile out of fatigue, scratching his short hair. "I never imagined that handling these matters would be so troublesome. There's quite a process involved in obtaining forgiveness from others, and it's not easy."

"In your opinion, then, is Kazuki's proposal right or wrong?"

Fugaku asked.
