Chapter 12 - Allies

"And you can see him, so you sure ain't as simple as you claim," she continued. The fortune teller amidst glancing back and forth at Lily and Titus, froze at the sight of the pendant around Lily's neck. "You are...," she didn't get to finish the statement as she got from the chair she sat on and dropped kneeling on the ground with her face down. "At your service my lady," she voiced without lifting up her head.

The fortune teller was indeed the sorcerer they had been planning to set out to look for. They believed she possessed vital information concerning the key they were in search of. The fortune teller actually possessed a little bits of the elements of dark magic.

This kind of power could only be sourced from one place, and that was from the dark race. The only way she could have gotten her hands on that kind of power was through an exchange with either a very powerful member of the dark race or a royal under the bloodline of Lily's kin.

The fortune teller had to trade something in return for the dark magic she possessed. Being that she was already a sorcerer, it was perhaps due to the strong desire to obtain dark magic as a boost to her normal magic that she decided to be in agreement with the terms of the dark race.

The fortune teller without a doubt was successful in quenching her thirst for power, dark power and in return she agreed to be an ally of the dark race. Being a sorcerer, she was an asset that would prove to be so useful to them in very many ways.

And one of them was detecting the key that they were after. However, they needed to be sure of the sorcerer's loyalty lying with them and to do that they had to seek her help. Only this way would they know which side she was on.

"Tell me what you know," Lily uttered with a commanding tone. The fortune teller rose up slowly and took a few steps back. Having dark elements in her magic, she was damned to submit to the royal bloodline of the dark race since she was an inferior.

"What you seek is not in my possession but I can give you something that can lead you to it," she glanced at Lily, careful enough not to look her straight into her eyes. " I will have to enchant a charm for you, that way, it will give you a link. With this you will have a lead to follow," the fortune teller continued.

Titus turned towards the entrance of the tent and with his abilities, he raised his hand and a black smoke formed in the atmosphere that abruptly disappeared in seconds. Titus had formed an illusion by the entrance so that whoever came inside the tent could not be able to see anyone inside the tent or hear any sounds coming from within.

That way, Lily would be able to carry on with her plans without interruptions or disclosure to anyone. The fortune teller amidst wanting to create a charm for Lily and enchant it, a thought crossed her mind.

"The pendant, I can enchant it instead. That way the connection will be stronger since you have the dark elements." Lily carefully listened to the fortune teller's idea and with a nod from Titus, she decided to give in.

Moreover, the fortune teller could not bring her any harm. Before Lily, the fortune teller was a mere weakling.

The fortune teller shut her eyes and began whispering enchanting Lily's pendant. She abruptly stopped and opened her eyes at once. The moment she did that, the ruby stone in the pendant glowed with a deem red light.

Lily stared at the fortune teller with a lot of questions in her eyes. The fortune teller's look was like that of a person who had faced an opponent and unknowingly realized that they met a match, she was utterly shocked.

"The pendant has a very powerful magic in it. It is hard to break through. Whoever enchanted it is very powerful." Lily remained quiet as though she wasn't troubled at all with what the fortune teller just told her. She was too focused on the results that she did not at all care about the ways the fortune teller had to use. As long as she succeeded in completing the incantations.

The fortune teller closed her eyes once more and recited incantations but this time they sounded different. Lily felt a rush of energy on her chest on the area where the pendant rested. She slowly closed her eyes and allowed the energy to mingle with her darkness.

She then forced her eyes open revealed her pitch black eyes and breathed out heavily. The fortune teller immediately looked away not wanting to look directly into Lily's eyes. Lily got up from the chair she sat on and held onto the pendant around her neck smiling devilishly.

"I can feel it," she whispered with amusement. The fortune teller got up and moved a few steps approaching Lily. "Close your eyes." Lily immediately did as the fortune teller order. She studied Lily's face and the movements of her eyeballs underneath her shut eyes.

"Do you see it now?" The fortune teller inquired with anticipation in her voice. She could not hide the curiosity she had in her face as she waited for Lily to open her eyes. Her incantations would enable Lily to trace the whereabouts of the key.

"A woman and a tiger, a monster," Lily whispered with her eyes shut. "Stay on the creature, connect with it," the fortune teller directed Lily ensuring she did not take her eyes off any of her movements. She had to ensure that Lily did not break her connection with the monster.

Lily followed the movements of the creature that was pacing restlessly in a cage that was set inside a building that looked like ruins that had been occupied and furnished. It had very little sense of life within it and the darkness made it quite chilling.

A few meters away from the cage was a seat that looked like a throne. On the seat was a figure of a woman who Lily did not see her features clearly. Lily focused on the creature that was still pacing within the cage restlessly.

The moment she managed to focus on the creature, her pendant glowed with a bright red light and the creature suddenly grew still. The creature growled fiercely trying to force Lily out of it's mind. However, Lily's power was too strong and suppressing that the creature had to succumb to her.

The monstrous creature that had features of a tiger but was black in color with canines that were of an exaggerated length turned and growled silently while directly glaring at the figure that was seated on the throne. The creature then staggered to the back of the cage and dropped heavily on the ground.

Lily opened her eyes at once and for a while she could not erase the excitement she had on her face. "Your loyalty will not go unrewarded," she composed herself and stated directing her words to the fortune teller.

"You must go into hiding and not show your face in the next two towns or near the woods here in Umbra," Lily added getting outside the tent. The sorcerer had alerted other dark creatures that were within the radius of Umbra Town and the next two towns.

The incantations she had done on Lily had just sent a signal to other dark creatures in the surrounding, ones that were more powerful than the sorcerer. Not all of these creatures had the same desires as Lily and the entire dark race.

They therefore had established themselves in the human world and had their own schemes. They particularly were in search of any powerful sorcerer that would be able to access dark magic, this way they would be able make their own alters and have their reign in the human world.

In this case, now that the fortune teller had used magic that had the dark element in it, they were to feel it without a doubt. And once they traced the source, it would soon channel itself to the fortune teller who was with Lily.

This was dangerous to Lily's task since the moment the members of the dark race that had condemned their origin got their hand on the sorcerer, they would easily torture the information out of her which would lead to an early exposure of it.

With this, the outcast members of the dark race would have a lead on Lily's plans and they sure would seek every way to jeopardize it since they were now sworn enemies. They would ensure that they used up to the last drop of power the sorcerer had and left her for the dead.

So, for her own safety and the mission's, the fortune teller had to go into hiding. She would only come out when Lily tells her that it was safe. The fortune teller also directed Lily to to a witch that would prove helpful to her on her way.

Lily was to find the witch near the gates of her target destination, Raven City. In this place, she would be directed with the energy on the pendant to the place where the witch resided. Once she got there, the witch would be able to disguise her since she was not allowed to use her own abilities at the moment.

Lily made her way out of the squre and she looked like she was more than happy to finally get away from the noise. Just the thought of her staying there all night waiting made her roll her eyes. Titus stayed close to her and patiently waited for her to finally tell him what she saw. He did not have the ability to easily perceive Lily's thoughts, she was way too powerful.

"The key is in Umbra Town," Lily answered Titus without him asking her any question or even speaking at all. "So where are we going right now?" Titus inquired walking alongside Lily. "To the beach," Lily answered him.

Before Lily could walk any further, she heard sharp screams. The screams particularly came from behind her. And right now, everybody was at the square and that was where she was walking away from. That kind of cream did not seem like it was part of a play from the circus team.

Lily quickly turned around after a few people ran helplessly past them. Lily grabbed a lady who was speeding past her and tightly gripped her wrist. The lady who was rapidly breathing slowed her breath under Lily's grip and stared at her with a more fearful look than the one she already had. Letting her go, Lily exclaimed, "Damn it! Whatever we were to look for at the shore might already be here."
