Chapter 13 - Infiltration

The lady who was rapidly breathing slowed her breath under Lily's grip and stared at her with a more fearful look than the one she already had. Letting her go, Lily exclaimed, "Damn it! Whatever we were to look for at the shore might already be here."

Speeding towards the direction everyone was fleeing, Lily concentrated her thoughts in the surrounding, slowing everything down and there it was, the same energy she felt by the shore. All she had to do was to find out where it was hiding.

Tracking the energy within the surrounding, Lilly ensured that she was keen and attentive to her surrounding. This was because by now she had already begun feeling the shift of the presence within the area.

It was almost dark and by this time, the townspeople who had gathered at the square had already cleared the surrounding. Even the circus team were nowhere to be seen. It seems like they too had fled the area.

The tents that had been set up which were numbering to six were still standing and had not been taken down since the circus team was to stay and hold their performances all through the night. In accordance to this, they were naturally not prepared to vacate that soon.

Lily stood in a fixed position, her eyes darting in every direction. The air became oddly still. There was no wind movement at all. Lily fixed her gaze on one of the tents and stared deep into it. She wanted so bad to take off her pendant.

It was only this pendant that drew her numerous limits, and with it off, she would have already been done with this. She silently cursed. "Come out," Lily uttered in a clear steady voice that had a chilling ring to it.

What followed were numerous muffled whispers that cut through the air like a sudden breeze. Lily attempted to slow everything around her but she was unsuccessful this time round. At this point Lily was already fuming.

First of all, she commanded whichever creature that could be, to show up but it didn't. And secondly, now she could not trap whatever that was? She was beyond irritated, she was fuming.

The instance that Lily attempted to release her aura, what she never expected occured. She felt a very piercing pain all through her body. She groaned in pain underneath gritted teeth. What followed were clattering sounds within the tents.

Objects that were set within the tents fell in order from one direction across all tents. Lily recovered after a few seconds and immediately tried to release her aura once more. She was once again shocked as the same thing happened.

Lily had already taken notice that whatever she was after was within the tents and was indeed on the move. It was at that moment that Lily remembered that whatever plan she had in mind she could not be able to go through with it.

This was because, the pendant around Lily's neck was not only to protect her from revealing her true self. It was also activated to suppress most of her power. This way, Lily would not easily lauch way too powerful attacks.

In short, this limited her to only telepathy and a few other less powerful abilities according to all the abilities she had. The moment she would be able to use her full energy by any chance, it would be too overpowered and there was totally nothing that could stand in her way.

Knowing what a powerful being she was, she got so irritated that a mere low creature could give her such a hard time. In both instances as Lily was attempting to release her aura, the pendant trembled a little with a slight vibration and pressed against her skin.

This action made her feel as though she was being restrained and hit by her own energy. The pain she was undergoing was excruciating. Titus could only watch from a distance as Lily struggled since there was nothing he could do, he was not allowed to give her any helping hand in such instances.

Titus knew that Lily was well aware of the repercussions that came along with an attempt as the one she was making right now. It came with a lot of pain. As this point Titus could only think of one solution, the pendant.

Lily could channel a little bit of the unrestricted energy she had in her to the pendant. This way, she could be able to use the pendant as a weapon on its own. Being that the pendant was enchanted with the dark element, it would perhaps be of help in a way or two.

Before Titus could voice his suggestion, he heard Lily interject with discomfort in her voice, " absolutely not." The events that followed happened almost in a blur. A huge statue, one of the many that stood alongside the sidewalks, was suddenly blasted and rolled heavily towards the direction Lily was standing.

Lily could not locate the source of the attack at all. However she knew one thing for sure, whatever that creature was, it just launched an attack on her. As though it did not want Lily and Titus to wonder anymore, the creature suddenly showed itself.

By this time it was already dark and there was very little light that shone at the square and along the streets. Majority of the source of this light was the lights along the streets. Away from the tents and further between the blocks that stood within the town, a shadowy figure started materializing from bare ground.

"Ttch a shade," Lily remarked with amusement. Despite her infuriation, Lily turned around and started walking away towards a direction that would lead her out of the town center. This action might have however made the shade very upset.

The shade noticing Lily walking away from it like she did not notice it at all, flung another heavy statue straight at Lily. Just when the statue was inches away from Lily, it stopped at once as if it was frozen in the atmosphere.

Lily stood still without moving at all and suddenly, the statue that was launched towards her swang back like a boomerang and went straight at the shade. This however did not cause any damage at all to it as the statue simply dashed further through the shadowy figure and crumbling a few meters away from it.

The shadowy figure abruptly began increasing in height and size. It grew to about eight foot tall and as it slowly got taller, it spread its shadowy arms across the two blocks on each of its sides. Numerous shadows formed on the walls.

The shadows had various shapes, some of which looked like monstrous creatures and humanoids with crooked fingers. The shadows hissed sharply and as they spread towards any corner, they took out the lights within that place.

It was like the shade had made itself an army of shadow monsters. The shade spread itself a few meters towards Lily stepping away from the blocks it stood amongst. The figure that revealed itself was a tall dark smokey creature that took a humanoid shape .

"Very intimidating," Lily mocked turning around to face the shade. The shade's response to that was another attack. One of the shadows spread swifty through the walls and on the ground towards where Lily was standing.

On the way, every object that stood on the ground crumbled and turned into black molten paste. The shadow hissed at every object it stumbled upon destroying it to the groud. Lily's reaction was once again a little disappointing to the shade.

The instance the shadow got just a few meters away from Lily, it stuck as though it was restrained in that position. The shadow sharply hissed as it scattered disappearing under Lily's stare. Titus watched from a distance without any surprise on his face.

He had to keep a close eye on Lily since he knew very well that Lily had a bad temper and could easily take actions that would prove dangerous to both her and her mission. Lurking within the shadows, Titus paid total attention to both the shade and it's army of shadows.

Titus had to immediately shift his attention to Lily who was now facing the shade glaring at it. Lily's eyes suddenly turned pitch black once more as she tiptoed off the ground floating above it in the air.

Her raven hair had changed form and turned to a deep dull black color. What added to the very chilling picture of Lily's sudden transformation was how her hair unnaturally floated in the air as though it was in water. Lily looked like she was about to enjoy whatever was going to follow.

She immediately lifted her right hand to her neck and held onto the pendant that was now glowing with a deem red light. Titus fixed his eyes on her and realized that Lily had suddenly decided to take his idea into consideration and use the pendant as a weapon.

In the next moment, Titus's reaction turned into a more perplexed one. He stared at Lily with horror and while running towards Lily,he shouted with a loud voice, "nooooo!"

He watched with horror as Lily held onto her pendant and forcefully pulled it off her neck. Titus followed the pendant with his eyes as it dropped onto the ground and as it slowly lost the glow on the ruby stone, every light within the surrounding went out.
