Chapter 3 - Chap 2: Strange place

Lan and 8 others were sent to a strange forest with a variety of new plants. Everyone was very confused and scared about what just happened.

Some blamed the god, others burst into tears because they were afraid that they would not be able to return.

"Why, why did it have to be me. I still have my family, I have planned everything for the future. So all my hard work in studying became meaningless, you damn gods." One of the remaining 8 people blamed.

Lan sat down on the ground with tears falling: "Why, why did it have to be Hoang...."

Luckily, Tuan and Hoa, Lan's friends, were teleported to the same place as her. Both of them came out to comfort Lan.

"I know Hoang is very important to you, but if you keep being depressed like this, how will you have the strength to defeat the demon king and revive Hoang?" Hoa sat down next to Lan and patted her shoulder to comfort her while looking at Tuan and signaling him to encourage her more.

"That's right, if it was Hoang, he wouldn't waste any time to fulfill his wish and revive everyone. So you should try your best." Tuan encouraged.

Lan [wiping away her tears and standing up]: "You guys are right, if I stay here like this, I'll lose to him again. Thank you both, it's a good thing you're all here."

"There's nothing to be so polite about, we're just friends" Hoa and Tuan replied shyly.

"But I don't understand why that god didn't let us go straight to the capital like in anime or something, but instead brought us to a deserted forest like this" Tuan looked around and said.

"Maybe a group of strangers suddenly appearing in the middle of a crowded city would cause chaos, so we were brought to this place" Lan replied.

While everyone was still bewildered in the strange land, the voice of the God rang out again.

"All my heroes, each of you will now be given a different special ability to support you. To add, the crystals I have given can only be possessed and seen by those who have been summoned like you."

Immediately, each person's crystal flew in front of them. Displaying a Hologram board with lines of text including each person's name and ability name. The god no longer said anything.

Everyone was surprised at the image they saw before their eyes.

Tuan: ""Teleport" huh, it seems to be suitable for my blue crystal."

Hoa looked up at her green board: "Kh...Khronos?? What is that, what is this sound of mine?"

Lan: "Maybe it sounds similar to "Chronos" which is the name of a god representing time. Maybe you have the ability to control time"

Hoa: "Wow, that sounds like it would be useful in fighting monsters. What about yours, Lan?"

Lan: "Mine is "Illogical", I don't know what ability it has. Ironically, the events that have happened so far have not followed any logic at all."

"Yours is red, the rarest of all so it must be useful." Tuan said.

"Everyone look, there is a big wall over there. It could be a fortress, let's go in that direction" One of the group pointed in a direction and said loudly.

Everyone in the group hid their fear and walked towards that direction together.

Upon arrival, everyone was shocked to see hundreds, thousands of refugees lining up to enter the city. Everyone looked extremely shabby and lifeless.

Everyone approached and asked.

"Excuse me, I wonder what happened that everyone came here in such large numbers?"

"Our city has been occupied by the demon king's army, of course we have to go back to the capital to take refuge. How long has the war been going on and you're still asking?" A man turned to answer. He saw the group of young people and was surprised by their strange clothes. "And who are you, you don't seem to be from here... Are you a disguised demon!?"

Hearing someone say disguised demon, the people immediately moved away from Lan's group. Seeing the commotion, the soldiers came to check.

"Be quiet, no jostling or pushing." The soldier shouted loudly.

"And you, where are you from? What are you doing here?" The soldier drew his sword and turned to point at the group of young people and questioned them.

"Wait, calm down, we are outsiders who have just arrived here, so we are asking for information, we have absolutely no bad intentions." A smooth-talking person in the group spoke up.

The soldier carefully observed the group of young people, as if realizing something, he told everyone to wait and then returned to report to his superiors. The soldiers hurriedly brought horses and carriages.

"We sincerely apologize to everyone for the rude actions of the others earlier, please get on the carriage and follow us to the capital" - A person who seemed to be the Commander of the group directly came out to welcome the group.

Lan wondered: "Why invite strangers like us into the capital like that, we have never met each other?"

The Commander replied: "This is a direct order from our king, we were only ordered to welcome you so we cannot say anything more. Please get on the carriage"

Although everyone was still wondering, there was nothing they could do. Everyone got into the carriage which looked very luxurious but also very classic like from a medieval movie.

Entering the Imperial City, everyone was surprised by the countless makeshift tents of the refugees. Children and adults all looked weak and tired. A long line of people had to line up to receive food supplies.

In the small alley, there were also people fighting to steal food. Seeing a skinny boy being beaten by another adult to steal food, Lan could not bear it and broke the carriage door and rushed out at an extremely fast speed, leaving no time for anyone to react.

Pressing the man down: "You bastard, you still have food supplies in your hand. Yet you are still greedy enough to steal a child's share, is that acceptable. Huh!!??"

And then she punched the ground so hard that the stone road shattered, everyone was surprised by Lan's strength.

Tuan and Hoa hurriedly came out to stop Lan and pulled her up.

The man cried and sobbed: "Do you think I want to do that, the food supply is scarce. My children at home are seriously ill, with this much food, how can they be cured? A person with a healthy body, being welcomed by a luxurious carriage of nobles like you, how can you understand?"

Lan paused, looking around. There were mothers feeding their sick children drop by drop, there were children who had passed away but their families still held them in their arms as if they were still alive. Then she looked back at the man who was covering his face and crying, then she went to the place where the child was beaten earlier, helping him up.

"Hurry up and bring the food home, or else it will be stolen by bad guys."

The child didn't say anything, nodded in thanks and quickly ran away. Lan looked at the man lying there crying with pity, unable to do anything more, she quietly got into the carriage with Tuan and Hoa and continued on the way to the castle.
