I left food in the kitchen, and if you need anything, you can go check the fridge."
Nancy was talking to me. "You don't seem so good to join us at work today."
I was brushing, and listening, but my mind was revolving around last night's event. I was getting flashbacks, more especially the moment she shouted her name in my face because the dancefloor was too loud for me to hear her if she spoke the normal way.
"Alessandro?" Nancy tapped my arm.
"Are you okay?" I nodded. She had jolted me back to reality with her incessant calling and tapping.
"The nurse from Nigeria is here to say hi, she is leaving with me." She announced.
The nurse from Nigeria, the one David told me of. The one that was with us in the operating room. The one with a ring on her finger. The very one that slept in the car. She is here.
"Oh, extend my greetings to her." I faked a smile.
"She is waiting at the balcony," Nancy said. "Are you still drunk for heaven's sake, look, you are red in the face like you fought last night."
I rubbed my face. I was done with my dentures; the next thing was to go grab the morning bath.
I took one after I staggered back to Nancy's apartment last night. But I need more to calm my nerves.
"Just extend my greetings, Nancy," I replied. "And, I didn't get into a fight with Sita."
"Sita?" Nancy asked. "Who is Sita?"
Gosh! I shook my head. I didn't know when that word left my lips. I could see now that I was still drunk. I need rest, serious rest.
"Sorry, it's a slip of…guess I should go grab some sleep." I rubbed my forehead.
"I told you the same because I was sure you had a lot of concoctions in the hands of that badass barman." She leaned in as though she wanted a hug.
"But life's good over there. Those concoctions will take you to heaven and bring you back to earth, but you still have to explain why your belt was lost and your zip was…when you came home."
She slapped my shoulder and scurried off. I looked down to my below and saw it, I wasn't in shorts or pants, I was wearing one of Nancy's skirts, and she must have worn me the silly clothes last night after I came home.
I turned to the mirror, my face was truly red, and my eyes were heavy, I was still drunk, drunk to the core, and, who knows, Nancy might have been the one who gave me a quick bath last night.
That means she saw my—what?
My eyes widened, and like a fool, I screamed her name. "Nancy!"
I was answered by the sound of her car engine turning on and pulling out of the compound. She knew what she did, and I on the other hand owe her an explanation for coming home with a loose zip and belt.

It took a long before I woke the second time. I had sought Nancy's bed in the morning after she left for work.
There was the other room for me, but I just realized I was in Nancy's room after my second wake.
It was all off from my head now. I was back to myself. I rose from the bed and made it for her, then, I took off the skirt, and knowing I was the only one home, I walked over to the room she assigned to me last night, and there, I saw my pants spread out on the door.
My pantie was there, too, and my shirt. On the bed were my ten-dollar bills, my belt, the one Sita unbuckled last night, and my shoes, everything was sparkling clean, but my ten-dollar bills weren't complete, four were missing.
Maybe Nancy took the charge for turning overnight caregiver. I smiled and packed them together, then, I ambled to the bathroom.
A quick bath was all I required, and an antibiotic in case.
I did it quickly and returned to my room. It wasn't a big deal dressing up, but the big deal was shoving last night off my mind.
I have never been so reckless, and if ever I was asked to swear before last night that I would never do what I advise patients not to do, I would swear.
Unprotected sex with a stranger, it was damn sweet but not medically cool. I made it to the kitchen.
Nancy told me earlier that she left me something to eat.
It was a simple meal, pasta. It was cold already, so, I turned on the microwave and warmed it.
I did myself the good of eating that quickly.
My phone buzzed. I fished it out of my pocket and saw Dave's name on the screen. I tapped in and placed it to my left ear.
"Hello, Freeman," I said as I scurried out of the kitchen. The plat had been washed and everything taken care of except the skirt Nancy wore me last night.
But for lord's sake, she should have left me naked than cloth me in women's clothing, her skirts at that. I looked really funny in that piece of…skirt.
"I thought you would be at home playing Mozart." David hollered in my phone. "Did you go home with the Nigerian girl?"
I laughed. "Come on, David, it's high time you let her be if you don't have the balls to talk to her."
David laughed on the phone. "Well, Nancy gave me a medication to give you, and one of them is funny, seems you had random sex last night."
"David…" I snapped. "I had no such thing, though she is good with being suspicious of such. I banged the club last night, keep the package with you, I'm coming to grab it at your place."
"Don't go to my place, Sicilian," David said. "I'm waiting at your place, not the doctors' quarters, your place for real."
"Okay, I've heard you." I ended the call.
