Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 – Small Success

Nurse Oya asked Demir, who was late for lunch like yesterday, why the training took so long. After making a few brief explanations, Demir added to his speech,

- Sister, do you know? I was very scared when I first fell into the pit, but…

- (Nurse Oya immediately stood up and intervened) What are you saying? Did you fall into the pit? How are you now, are you okay? I'll check on you right now.

- There's nothing wrong, sister. Don't worry, I'm fine…

- Where is this pit? Show me. I'll go right now and cover it up, and you'll never fall in there again. Okay?

- !?

After dinner, they all came to the wind tunnel in the warehouse. Since Demir had told Nurse Oya what he had experienced along the way, Nurse Oya, who was now standing next to the pit, was calmer. But as he looked at the deep darkness in front of him, his anger increased and he turned to Kunt and started shouting,

- You! How could you throw this gentle puppy into such a dark pit? Weren't you afraid that he would fall and die or hurt himself? Would you look at the darkness of this pit? What a thoughtlessness…

- (Demir intervened by holding Nurse Oya's hand) Sister, don't be angry. At first I was very scared and angry, but this pit really isn't that bad. In fact, it's fun.

- How is it fun? This pit is very dark, very scary.

- No, it's not scary sister. (Demir added, looking at the pitch darkness of the pit) It's just a little unsettling and a little dark. Let me show you that it's not scary…

Demir let go of Nurse Oya's hand and jumped into the dark pit without waiting. Nurse Oya, who was staring at Demir who had disappeared from sight, didn't know what to do. She was about to jump into the pit immediately after Demir, but Kunt stopped her. "Don't worry, nothing will happen, he'll be back soon," he said.

A while later, a strong wind blew from the pit and brought Demir with it. Demir, who was floating in the air with his hands and feet out to the sides, about three meters up, looked at Nurse Oya and said, "Look sister, this is very fun and very beautiful."

Oya Nurse, who was surprised by Demir hanging in the air, smiled slightly when she looked more carefully at Demir's similarity to a frog. She was about to say, "Okay, you are flying very well, come over to us," when the wind of the pit suddenly stopped. Demir fell back into the pitch darkness of the pit and disappeared from sight. Nurse Oya turned to Kunt to understandwhat was happening,

- Let's go. I have things to do, I haven't cleaned up the kitchen yet. (Seeing Nurse Oya's reluctance, Kunt added) He will come out of the pit in about two hours. Then we will come back. There is no point in waiting here…

- How can you be so calm. If he falls at this speed, something will definitely happen to him. Do you have any idea how we can help him?

- Calm down. The gravity of the wind tunnel is not that strong. Even a little wind can easily lift you up into the air. Don't worry, let's go.

- !?

Demir, who had been training in the wind tunnel all day, was very tired. After a nice and hot shower, he was resting his body in his bed while also looking at the book of the celestial steps of the north wind. Although Kunt's training was unusual, he thought he had gained a lot.

When he wanted the tunnel to be brighter, Kunt told him the following. "Think of it like closing your eyes. If it were brighter, you wouldn't be able to concentrate enough. I closed your eyes for you. You, just focus on the wind."

Demir relived the moments when he closed his eyes and let the wind take him. As his desire to fly grew, his dreams became unattainable and after a while he fell asleep from exhaustion. Demir, who saw himself flying freely in the sky like an eagle in his dream, woke up after a nice sleep.

He went to Kunt for his daily training. After breakfast, he trained in the wind tunnel. In the afternoon, he worked on the celestial steps of the north wind. In the evening; he looked at the lecture notes Kunt had given him so as not to fall behind in his studies at school. The days passed quickly when the whole process became routine...

Thanks to four weeks of hard work, Demir's body slowly began to become more stable and strong. The sense of confidence in his walk and stance radiated around him. His work in the wind tunnel had begun to teach him how to adjust his balance.

Although what he had learned was at a beginner level, Demir was very confident. He would definitely catch one of those cruel rabbits. As he increased his determination and headed towards school, he heard Durualp shouting "Wait for me" from afar. After waiting a little, Durualp came running to him,

- Good morning Demir,

- Good morning Durualp, how are you?

- Never mind me, You... how are you? We came to your house a few times, but Kunt turned us away each time. He said, "Demir is getting checked by Nurse Oya" and wouldn't let us in. We never got to see you. But he took the lecture notes I brought you from me. He gave them to you, didn't he?

- Yes, yes. Thank you for the lecture notes. They were very useful to me. I studied a lot in the evenings. Thanks to you, I didn't fall behind in my studies.

- I'm glad. Though, you didn't lose much though. This is Teacher Ayla... She kept repeating the lessons thinking we didn't understand. It was very boring but fortunately Instructor Sarp gave us a new mission.

- New mission? So you caught the rabbits... I'm the only one left.

- (Durualp stretched his chest and started walking proudly) Of course we caught them. We tried really hard for the first three days but we couldn't. Then Tauriel said "Let's unite, we won't be able to catch them alone". We joined forces and caught one rabbit for each of us. We took the rabbits to Instructor Sarp but he didn't even congratulate us. This Instructor is never happy. (When Instructor Sarp's gaze comes to mind) The way he looks down at us is still before my eyes...

- So what's your new mission?

- Catching sandworms. Three of them. I've been trying for ten days but I could only catch one. I need to catch two more. Oh no... At this rate, I can't finish this mission before a month. (He added with a slightly angry tone) but that Eiderd, he caught all the worms four days ago and completed his mission. I asked him to help me too but he didn't even look at my face.

- Tauriel?

- She caught two. She'll definitely catch the third one today. I don't understand what they have that I don't have... … …

The two went to the Formal Education building with an intense conversation. When Teacher Ayla's lessons were over, they went to the Informal Education building after lunch for the sandworm mission. The whole class entered the building and they met Instructor Sarp in the entrance hall. Instructor Sarp's condescending gaze scanned the four people one by one,

- The useless class has finally gathered together. If you want, you can be a hundred people, but you will still be useless. (Pointing to Tauriel and Durualp with his finger) you two can go for your mission. (Looking at Demir, he added) you know where to go too, don't you?

- Yes, my teacher.

Instructor Sarp had said that he would not give a new task until more than half of the class had completed the current task. That was why he had to wait for Eiderd, Durualp and Tauriel to complete the task. (Can't these villagers do a job on time?) he muttered to himself as he looked at his classmates walking on the sand…

In the other class, Demir stood at the bottom of the stairs leading down to the garden and looked resolutely towards the garden full of rabbits. He would definitely catch a rabbit today. He held the blindfolds he took out of his pocket tightly and walked slowly towards the rabbits…

It had not been able to come to the dining area for a long time because of it brother's prohibitions. That treacherous boy might be waiting for it. It had always eaten the greens left by others, but now it wanted to eat it own greens. It somehow convinced it brother and the two of them came to the dining area together.

While it was anxiously eating it meal, it brother waited by it. This situation that had lasted for a week had ended when it was certain that no one was around. And now he came to the dining area alone, where it thought no one would disturb it. The little rabbit jumped tinyly, approaching the greenery it would eat, and surrendered itself to the perfect taste of its meal.

Demir, who saw the rabbit in eating from where he had been waiting for a long time, opened all his senses. He couldn't be careless. There was a possibility that the other rabbit was around here somewhere, too. He quickly checked the surroundings without moving much, and when he was sure that the rabbit was alone, he quietly emerged from the bushes and jumped on the rabbit.

He quickly put on the eyepatch without giving the rabbit a chance to struggle. When rabbit with eyes closed calmed down, he picked him up and ran towards the academy, disappearing among the trees.

After eating it meal, the brother rabbit was jumping and going to it brother. It was surprised when it saw the boy running between the trees. The boy who had not been seen here for almost a month had now appeared before it. Was he after it brother again? When the anxiety inside it increased, it immediately grew up and ran quickly towards where it brother was.

After running for a while with the rabbit in his arms, Demir, who did not encounter any problems, slowed down his running speed. While looking at the rabbit in his arms calmly, he suddenly found himself flying. But he was prepared for this.

He adjusted his balance while floating in the air and fell to his feet. However, since he could not adjust his center of gravity correctly during the fall, he could not maintain his balance and rolled. Demir, who quickly got up and started running again, rose into the sky again after a while.

He adjusted his balance properly while in the air, but he could not avoid rolling again when he fell. Demir, who did not understand why he rolled despite landing properly, when he got back up, the big rabbit appeared right next to him.

When Demir, who flew up again as a result of the rabbit's headbutt, realized that he would hit the tree opposite, he immediately did a somersault and put his feet on the trunk of the tree. He slowed down by bending his feet and caught the branch just above him. Now, while holding the rabbit with one hand, he adjusted his balance by holding on to the tree with the other and stepped safely on the branch below him. When her eyes looked for the rabbit, it had already come next to the tree.

- Stop chasing me and hitting me. I promise I won't hurt it. This is just a test. I will release it after the test is over. Please calm down a little and trust me...

The older brother rabbit, who looked up at the child on the tree, got angry when it thought that the child would not leave brother. While it was walking around the tree with anger, the boy was saying something. When it said, "Is he notifying others?", it realized that it had to hurry, but it couldn't climb the tree.

So it would have to get the boy down from the tree. It tensed up, tensed up and headbutted the tree hard. The boy was still standing there as the leaves of the tree fell to the ground. It headbutted the tree a few more times, but nothing changed. It should have hit faster and harder for the child to fall.

Seeing that the rabbit was getting farther away from the tree, Demir observed what the rabbit would do while the rabbit ran at full speed and hit the tree with a very hard headbutt. The tree shook violently as a result of the collision. The soil swelled slightly and the tree tilted slightly. Demir, who clung tightly to the branch of the tree, narrowly escaped falling.

When he straightened himself and looked at the rabbit below, he saw that the rabbit was slowly shrinking while lying on the ground. He made his decision quickly and got down from the tree immediately. He came to the rabbit lying motionless on the ground. He put the other eye patch he took out of his pocket on the rabbit and then he picked it up and ran away towards the academy…

When he came to the classroom, Instructor Sarp and Teacher Ayla welcomed him. Demir, who showed the rabbits to Instructor Sarp, looked quite happy. But Instructor Sarp's cold gaze took the smile off his face.

- No matter how good your result was compared to the others, the fact that you are useless does not change. Don't expect an extra grade from me for two rabbits. Actually, I should lower your grade because you completed the task after everyone else. (He added when he saw Demir's sullen face) But I should say that you managed to improve yourself compared to your first day. Rest for now. Your next task will start tomorrow.

As Instructor Sarp was leaving the classroom, Demir showed the rabbits in his arms to Teacher Ayla with a smile on his face. Since Teacher Ayla saw everything on the screen, she showed her appreciation for the effort of this cute and gentle student by hugging her tightly.

- Let's go to the infirmary and have you checked if you're hurt, okay? (She added while showing the rabbits in his arms) Let's also ask them to look at these rabbits.

- Yes my teacher. Let's go…
