"I made a suggestion, man. What do you think about it?" I asked the man standing before me keeping a serious expression.
"Um, we'll I'm sorry it's not like I'm doubting you. We just follow certain protocols," he said, looking a little bit tensed.
I knew I had gotten to him. "You're lucky I'm in a good mood," I said, turning to the rest of them. "Open the fucking gates for me!" I said, dropping the cigar to the ground, stepping on it, as I got back in the car.
I let out a deep breath and could still feel my legs shaking. I swallowed hard. "What the hell just happened?" I asked myself as I started the car. I drove straight to the front of the huge building, parked, and looked back and forth. It felt like I was just realizing I could die anytime now, but every time the thought came to my head, I took a deep breath and it made me feel better.
I finally gathered courage and stepped out of the car. I noticed a red line leading into the house and immediately shut the car door. A voice said,
"FOLLOW LINE TO GET TO TARGET."
It took me a few seconds to realize that I was the only one who could see the line as I made my move towards the huge door, following it.
There were already two armed men at the door. I didn't know what to do; I didn't have any plan.
I noticed one of them press down his earphone as he took a quick glance at me. I didn't know what he was being told at the moment, but I was ready for anything, even if it meant taking them all myself, as this was a one-man mission.
I stopped for a moment to observe him as I put my hands in my pocket to make it seem like I was checking for something.
Just when I noticed him fall back in place firmly, and he didn't raise any alerts, I moved forward and proceeded towards the door.
They both pushed one side of the door open, greeting me with a nod as I made my way in. I guess they didn't feel the need to search or question me because I had made it through the two gates. It must have been the ones at the gate who spoke to him over the earphones.
I made my way in and found myself in a grand foyer, with marble floors and crystal chandeliers and the best furniture I had ever seen in my life. It almost felt like paradise in this place everywhere was empty no one in sight.
Which was strange but But I didn't have time to admire the decor or think about how many people were in the this place with me. I had to find Bony and fast; I was running out of time, so I sprinted up the stairs, still following the line provided to me. My heart was pounding in my chest as I looked around every corner I just knew something wasn't right at the moment.
"Fuck, I wish I had a gun with me now," I muttered to myself.
Finally, following the line, I reached the top floor and saw Bony standing in front of a massive window, his back to me, holding a glass. Surprisingly, he was alone in this empty room; I wondered why he was alone. I watched him sip from the glass in his hand as he kept his gaze through the window. I crept up behind him, my eyes fixed on the watch strapped to his wrist.
Finally we meet I whispered, my voice low and menacing. He turned around, a look of surprise on his face, but it quickly turned to a smile.
"You fool," he spat. "It took you long enough. Just a kid thinking he can come into my home without me knowing ?"
He said, as he tightened his bath robe
"You probably wonder how I knew you were coming," he said. "Did you think it was that easy for you to make your way into my house?" He said as he took steps towards me.
His huge tall stature was quite intimidating especially as he came closer.
His dark skin even looked darker in reality, his muscular stature gave him that manly look any lady would fall for especially in those robes giving him that Dwayne Johnson stature, but dark skinned.
"I saw you all the way from the roof top right from the beginning you came close to my gate I sent someone to you to tell you to get away while you had the chance ….. his voice trailed off. But you killed him.
How is that possible? He saw me ?
I thought to myself just when he replied.
"Yes I did" he replied
Wha! did he just reply my -
"Yes, I just replied to your thoughts," he said again with a smile on his face as he headed for the wine shelf at the corner of the room and poured himself a glass.
"You've got some guts, kid, and I like it." He said as he walked towards me, "You could have been sniped dead the very moment you killed one of my men outside the gate, but I was just amazed by your courage and decided to see how far it was gonna take you." Bony said as he drew closer to me, and I could smell the alcohol on his breath.
"What the hell is going on?" I thought to myself, just when he did it again, and it was already getting creepy.
"I'll tell you what's going on. You—" "Okay, just fucking stop it! Would you just stop doing that!" I screamed, pointing at him. "How are you doing that? How the fuck can you hear my thoughts?" I asked out loud.
"I am just gonna go straight to the point. I wouldn't want you to get home late." He said as he took a seat on the center table in the room.
I am able to read your thoughts because we are alike," he said, taking another sip from his glass. "As he continued, I once possessed the powers you have now, making me who I am today, but unfortunatelyBe, my time ran out last night."
"I don't understand," I said, looking very confused. "The system you have with you now was once mine. It just passed last night." "Last night? What's he saying? Does he know about my—" "Yes, I do, and it would be best if you said things out loud. It would be less weird." He said, replying to my thoughts again.
I let out a deep breath. "So you know about it?" I asked him, feeling a slight sense of comfort around him, knowing he wasn't going to kill me. "Yes, I have been with it for 40 years now," Bony replied as he went back to the shelf, poured another glass, and offered me a drink.
"No thanks, I don't drink. I'm just here for the watch, please." I refused politely. "Nonsense! You look really tensed here. Have some. It helps you think easier," he said, stretching the glass in his hands towards me. He seemed cool at the moment, so I took it from him as I looked into the cup.
"That's about 40 grand in your cup right there," he said, pointing at my glass. "Then how much is the bottle?" I asked. "About 500 grand. Screaming Eagle. Ah, one of the best wines in the world," he said, letting out a deep breath and looking back at me.
"Look, man. My time's up. It's time for you to take over from here," he said as he took off the watch from his wrist, came closer to me, took up my hand, and put it in it. "It would never ask you to go attack a god on earth like me for something that's not important," he said as he closed my fist with the watch in it.
