Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 - The One System: Origin of Life And System

"You asked what I want? I want you to fix my world," the voice stated.

"This world is corrupted, accursed. Humans have become rotten to their very core; they have lost their humanity.

They kill without a second thought, they kill to gain power, and they destroy the very balance of the food chain that I originally set.

Now they are at the top of the food chain," the voice finished, its tone filled with both sorrow and hope.

By hearing this, Sasaki began to understand the essence of this new world. The system had taken over, exploiting the greed of humans.

It granted power only to humans, turning other races into mere experience points. This entire world had become like an RPG game, where humans were the playable characters and other races were just sources of power. The more you killed, the stronger you became.

Originally, Sasaki wanted to level up to kill those responsible for reincarnating him into a pitiful, powerless body.

But as he continued on his journey, he realized that his mentality was no different from the corrupted world around him.

What had he become? Was this what he truly wanted? Who was he, really? These questions began to storm in his mind, creating a whirlwind of doubt and reflection.

Sasaki, wanting to clear his mind of doubt, asked the voice, "But didn't you also give me The One System? Aren't you the same then?"

The voice responded, "Ah, let me make it clear. This is not a system like the one you're familiar with. This is the Origin."

"The Origin of power will not grant you anything. Not a single skill, not a boost, nor any help in leveling up. It will only show you your progress. It's like your will, your journey. It maintains everything but interferes with nothing."

"Hmm, how can I put this... Ah."

"In your modern terms, it's like a log. It records your activities. It won't help you directly, but it will assist you in keeping track of your journey. And when you become confident in yourself, you can delete it."

"Now listen carefully, I will show you the origin of this world," the voice commanded.

The voice began to reveal the beginning of the world, a time that could be likened to the Big Bang.

There was nothing but a vast void, from which an unknown entity was born. This entity wandered through the expanding universe for billions of years, gradually developing consciousness and questioning its existence.

Alone in the darkness, the entity realized this void was a reflection of itself.

Loneliness stirred a desire within the entity to find companionship. Over countless epochs, this desire evolved until the entity discovered its potential to create- the power of creation.

It separated a part of itself, which became light. Thus, the goddess of light was born from the very essence of darkness.

The darkness, endless and boundless, coexisted with the light, which illuminated but a fraction of the vast expanse.

Together, they maintained a balance between dark and light. Yet, they soon realized that they were simply two beings wandering an infinite path without purpose.

To bring joy to his other half, the darkness created the universe, forming planets, moons, and an entire solar system in the blink of an eye.

Life sprouted on one planet, with many races and species emerging from the darkness. The universe functioned perfectly, like a perpetual machine sustaining life.

To alleviate his loneliness and please the light, the darkness incarnated as one of his creations, a human.

They lived among the beings, teaching them the meanings of life, the sciences of agriculture, law, hunting, combat, and every bit of knowledge. Darkness aided all races, ensuring the food chain maintained balance through life and death.

For millions of years, the light and darkness coexisted harmoniously, bringing joy to one another. However, as time passed, the light grew bored of this routine.

She became jealous, for while everyone praised the darkness as the creator, her existence seemed diminished within his vast expanse. She did not want to be overshadowed, so she asked the darkness for a promise: to never interfere with her actions.

Blinded by love, the darkness agreed, promising not to meddle in her affairs. The light then created the sun and stars to represent herself, introducing the concept of time.

'Day and night, sleep and wakefulness were born. The darkness, realizing the improvements this brought to his creation, was pleased that his beloved had enhanced his world.

For many years, those who praised the darkness created numerous religions in his honor. However, as time passed, their faith waned, lost in the brilliance of the light.

The goddess of light, seeking her own reverence, formed her own religion so that all could praise her. The darkness, bound by his promise, watched her actions in silence.

He was content to see her enjoying herself with his creations and further enhancing the lives of many.

Yet, unbeknownst to the darkness, the goddess of light began promoting her teachings solely to humans. She taught that light would bring happiness, joy, and life, while the teachings of darkness remained with the non-human races.

Over time, these divergent teachings fostered a deepening rift. Humans and non-humans developed conflicting ideologies and ways of living, leading to inevitable conflict.

The darkness, unable to break his promise, watched in silent despair as her blasphemy unfolded. The non-human races, inherently stronger than humans, could not be easily overcome.

To counter this, the goddess of light devised a cunning plan. She planned to designed a system wherein humans could gain power through killing.

To implement her plan, the goddess of light created a new goddess, whom we shall call Illumina, the Goddess of Ascendance.

Illumina was tasked with granting unique systems to every human. These systems would represent their levels and power, rewarding them with strength and skills for killing other races allied with the darkness.

Illumina reveled in her role, proud of the chaos and entertainment she had brought her master the goddess of light. The humans, now empowered by their systems, waged relentless war against non-humans, each conflict fueling the light goddess's amusement.

In this way, the teachings of darkness and light perpetuated an eternal cycle of conflict, driven by the insatiable hunger for power and dominance.

And in the end goddess of light found amusement in this endless strife, her boredom alleviated by the struggles of these feeble beings in the vast universe.
