The non-human races, known as demons at that time, were created by the darkness to protect humans, elves, dwarves, and beastmen from monsters, other evil entity which was born while darkness was creating the world and those entities soon gain the consciousness and maintain the balance of life.
However, due to the intervention of Illumina and the goddess of light, demons also seen as part of the monster realm. Initially protectors, they were now viewed as symbols of evil, providing a target for other races to pray to the light for protection and power, much to the goddess of light's amusement.
Seeing the humans empowered by Illumina eradicating demons faster than anticipated, the goddess of light realized a problem.
If demons were wiped out, peace would return, and humans would forget her. To prevent this, she created another god, Vyshareth, the Goddess of Corruption. Vyshareth's role was to create more demons and mislead them from their original purpose as protectors.
The goddess of light commanded Vyshareth to create a Demon King every 50 years. This recurring threat would force humans to unite and fight, ensuring the goddess of light continued to be praised and worshipped.
She aimed to be known as the bringer of happiness, power, wealth, joy, and all worldly desires. From her influence, the sins of greed, envy, lust, and others were born.
Over the centuries, the world forgot the darkness completely. Even the demons lost their memory of their true creator, believing themselves to be monsters destined to hunt humans, elves, dwarves, and any living beings.
They began to think their . purpose was to kill, and they prayed to their own demon god, Vyshareth. Thus, over time, they entirely forgot their original purpose as protectors.
"And here you are, oh child," the Voice continued. "Did you truly think you were reincarnated with all your memories to play some hero role in a fantasy world? You were reincarnated to play the little game of the Demon King by the goddess of corruption."
"The power of decay you possess was given by her alone. Have you ever thought why you regained consciousness under a pit of dead bodies, with your body burnt and blood dripping from your wounds?"
Sasaki felt a wave of realization. Indeed, his reincarnation was suspicious. If someone were reincarnated with good intentions, they would have been born into a decent family or as a baby, not into an adult body in the middle of a forest filled with demons and monsters.
"But if they wanted to create a new Demon King," Sasaki questioned, "why didn't they reincarnate someone from this world? Why drag me from another world?"
In response, the Voice explained, "Rage of revenge, the thrill of leveling up, gaining new skills - this world is like an RPG game from your world. Anyone from your world would enjoy leveling up through the system."
"The humans of this world are already devoted to the goddess of light and would not betray her," the Voice continued. "Illumina bestows the power of the system when humans turn fifteen and then they pray to the goddess of light in the church. They receive classes based on their bloodline."
"Even if she granted the Demon King power to any human, they would be killed on the spot in the church," the Voice revealed. "Illumina would never grant a Demon King class to a human as it would damage her reputation."
"So, they came up with the solution to summon a soul from another universe," the Voice concluded.
Sasaki's mind was storming with questions. How could darkness be good and light be evil? How could his beliefs be so wrong? He felt like a grain of sand, helpless and at the mercy of someone who controlled everything in the universe - no, multiple universes.
"Indeed! What you are thinking is correct," the Voice interjected, "that's why I like you. Doubt - doubt is what makes you stronger."
Sasaki was shocked. The Voice could hear his thoughts. His bewilderment deepened.
"How...?" Sasaki's voice trembled.
"What did you think? That I couldn't do something as small as listen to your thoughts?" the Voice mocked. "You are such a fool."
"This is nothing to me," the Voice continued, its tone dripping with awe.
Sasaki felt a deep fear engulfing him. The Voice was right. His quest for power, his belief in his own strength, and his vow to destroy the ones who reincarnated him - all seemed foolish now.
The beings who granted him power could take it away anytime they wanted. The system he relied on was nothing but a tool to exploit his greed.
Sasaki felt the weight of the truth settling in. His actions, his desires, and his very existence were all part of a grand design he barely understood. He had been a pawn in a game far beyond his comprehension.
Sasaki's mind was still storming with questions when the Voice spoke again, its tone carrying the weight of divine wisdom.
"Do not burden yourself with too many thoughts," the Voice began, gently yet firmly. "Let me clarify something for you."
"You have the freedom to do whatever you wish, however you wish. I will not interfere with your decisions or actions."
"You have the power to destroy the world and recreate it. I will not stop you, just as I did not stop her in the past," the Voice continued, a hint of disdain creeping into its tone.
"I made a promise to not meddle with her actions, but now she must understand and be held accountable for them."
"You reap what you sow. I have been patiently waiting for her madness to calm down over these centuries, but now is the time for destruction."
"Destruction is part of a new beginning. To build a new structure, you must first dismantle the old one."
"Destruction and creation are two sides of the same coin. They must be balanced. For the betterment of future generations, the old ways must be destroyed and adapted to new circumstances."
