Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: AFTERMATH (2)

"Hey! Kids! What was that?!" The soldier races up to us, before looking around, "Where did..."

"We took care of them," I manage to get out between my laboured breathing.

"What do you mean you took care of them? Not even our trained militants could do so!" He shouts.

"How much does the government know about the situation right now?" Connor asks as he approaches the man.

"Uh... well all we know is that its like something out of a comic book" He explains, "yaknow the ones, portals, monsters, dungeons!"

"Right. Though, You're missing one part of the equation there sir," He points out.

"What...?" He asks confused.

"Nice to meet you sir, I'm player Ezra Mantil, this is one of my party member's" I explain, having finally caught my breath.

-

After the break the soldiers asked us to wait for their boss to arrive. We agreed as it seemed that we were the only players right now based on the breaks. Eventually a car pulls up and out comes a man in a suit.

"So you mean to tell me, you have awakened?" The man asks us.

"Yeah, is that really that hard to believe?" I ask.

"Well I mean, yeah its right out of a-"

"Comic book, I know. I want you to look around general. Does any of this not look straight out of a comic book? We have heard this time and time again but it seems like you dont get it. We are living in times in which disbelief is inaffordable and normalcy is unattainable. Do you, or do you not believe us?" I cut him off.

"Alright... I see your point. What can we do?" He asks.

"First things first is societal reform. We need a gate management division, as well as a Players association. I can manually awaken three more players at my current level. I'd like your permission to awaken you, as well as head the gate management division. As the longest time coop player I'd like Connor here to take charge of the association. He has enough first hand experience to understand basic power levels, he also has spent enough time listening to my ramblings about these situations to get the gist of it," I continue, "Once that's taken care of I will go through and clear all gates on the verge of break. It seems like its one day per gate."

He shifts in his seat as he contemplates my proposal. "How much?" He asks.

"How much what?" I fire back.

"How much are you asking to be paid?"

"Materials. We will need materials and a workspace for a manual forge. And an office. That is it. I have plans for profiting off of this situation as well, believe me its not free, but it wont cost the government a thing," I explain, "So?"

"Very well then. We will see what we can do." He responds.

"Great, Register General Asher Conrad," I say, and the systen interface appears before the general, "Pleasure to work with you."
