FELIX POV
I watched her leave me, all by myself in this lonely world. She drove towards the main road like she was caught up in fire and would lose her life if she slows down. When would she know that I am losing myself little by little when I am not able to hold her in my arms after all this time? I sighed after she disappeared from my sight and moved my feet to return back into the house. I could sense all my guards whispering about the scene that just happened.
I glance at their direction to make them stop mumbling. As I always know, one piercing gaze from me is enough to make them go mute. I opened my mouth to say something but when I noticed the look on their faces, I couldn't be more satisfied than seeing them shivering in absolute fear. That's good keep up the fear.
"Can't you even make sure who's coming to meet me before you react? If she's come this far, you people should have figured out that she is important to me. Does someone come by this way just to mess around? Remember her. She is also your boss, respect her as you respect me. She will be coming here more often from now. Don't you dare lay a finger on her. You all will be bleeding your hearts out if anything happens to her the next time she comes around. Be alerted. Don't force me to erase you from this world abruptly "
I warn them as blood in my veins starting to rush to my head increasing my adrenaline rush at the thought of her getting hurt just because these fools mistook her for an average troublemaker. My eyes staring into their soul screaming the words 'Don't you fucking dare!!!' into their minds.
I return back into the mansion frowning, with my mind swarming with the fools actions. How could they ever doubt her? I would have surely ended their lives today if she didn't fight back. She was pretty awesome back there my face softening the second she comes to my mind.
There is this stupid smile on my face again. And my thoughts started to wander around the moments between us. I don't know why I hugged her. But I needed that hug. To convince myself she's not going anywhere. That she'll be with me this time. My body felt so electrifyingly radiant when I touched her. The sensation of touching her never left my arms. I can still feel her on my chest. I wished she could hear my heartbeat when I was hugging her to prove how much I love her. But this is not the time yet.
I rubbed off my thoughts and entered into the bathroom to wash my face. I splashed a hand full of water on my face and washed it with soap foam. After cleaning the foam off my face, I raised my hand to reach for the towel on my left with the right hand out of habit. As my right shoulder came in contact with my face, I sensed a strong scent of lavender on my shirt. Infact I smelled like her. Lifting both my arms to my nose, I sniffed the fragrance of her from myself. The smile on my face got bigger than before. Closing my eyes to feel the scent inside my whole body, I sniffed deeper this time.
My ming going numb of emotions other than love. I couldn't feel anything other than this enchanting trail of fragrance she left for me. When will I have her in my hands instead of the remnants. She is the only one that makes me feel relieved about my existence.
As my mind started drifting back to olden days, memories started to flood my brain. And he dashed into my thoughts. ATLAS. My one and only brother. I lost him at the same time when I lost my love. I was devastated when I heard that he was dead. My world that was built upon the dreams of Aine and Atlas came to an end. No. It's shattered into millions of pieces that even if I managed to collect all the bits, I wouldn't be able to build it again. The world around me crumbled down to trashes.
I remember all the pranks they played on me. I remember their bond. The way Atlas treated Aine like his little sister. He always wanted a sister. A sister he could take care of. Maybe that's why they left on their own leaving me behind, to watch them go away far from me. So far away that I couldn't even reach them. A tear drop rolling down my cheeks when his smiling face came to my mind. And an unknown smile formed on my lips. Out of eight billion people on earth, they are the only ones that could make me smile, cry, shout on top my lungs and laugh like there's no tomorrow.
" After I managed to bring her memories back, I will find you Les. I promise. Even if you are hiding in the deepest pits of earth, I will find you and get you home". Promising him seemed more like I am promising myself. I will find him. No matter what. I rub the thoughts off my mind and continued on my daily life of following her, drowning myself in their memories.
LYRA POV
My mood was destroyed by that motherfucker. Ha! Who am I to blame him...I was one who went to him first thing in the morning. Only if that idiot didn't set someone to follow me. I sat in the library front desk staring into space. I didn't notice Eline walking behind the desk to me. She pulled me out of my trance saying " Is everything alright mam?"
My eyes drifted to her and her radiant smile resembling the white shirt she is wearing paired with jeans. So pure and innocent. Her red curly hair combed perfectly fine that it looks like she have wavy hair.
"Yeah I'm fine. It's just some bug has been disturbing me from a few days" I say sighing.
" Oh...Okay..um I forgot to tell you mam, the new stock of novels which are scheduled to be arriving today had reached. I've organised the shelves so that we can have space for the new one's. They will unload the packages within half an hour. But the library seems to be filled with people. Should we reschedule the unloading?"
She said with a questioning face handing me the list of books arriving today.
" That's alright. These people will leave in 20 minutes. Half of them were here just to grab some books. Only about 8 of them will stay here"
" Okay mam. I'll continue with my work then"
She left after I nod my head in okay.
AUTHOR POV
Eline walked back to the book section she has been working at before Lyra came to the library. Lyra reached library twenty minutes late. She was in so much irritation and disbelief when she entered the store. No one working in the library dared to go near her. She was fussing and sighing all the time.
As Eline reached a shelf far away from Lyra, her mobile pinged with a text message notification. To be exact, another notification. She grabbed her mobile from her jeans pocket and read that it was Ashley texting her non-stop.
'Eline!! You coward!! How dare you to hang up on me!!??'
' I almost died here!'
'where are you?'
' Answer me idiot!'
'Did you really block me? But the message box shows you received the text!?'
' what's happening there?'
' did she get to our Boss?'
' she was fuming in anger when I said that our Boss was the one that wanted me to follow her'
' what happened at boss's mansion?'
'Did she talk something about it with you?'
'Answer me you stupid!'
' I will make sure you don't get the clearance certificate '
' you dared to abandon your boss!!!???'
Eline frowned reading the texts. 'So she went to his house? Maybe something happened there. So that's why she has been in bad mood since morning' Eline thought glancing at Lyra.
Lyra sat in her chair unaware of the secret glances, sighing her frustration out. She was checking the logistics book when her phone buzzed with a text. Lyra unlocked her phone and opened the text message.
'The Apple is back in the city.'
That's all it read. As soon as she read the sentence, she knew that their team operation is set to be implemented within a week. The operation "Adam Parker's Assassination".
Her face which has been a bundle of irritation and anger turned to a expression of mischievousness and danger. Her expression changed so quick after seeing the message that anyone would miss the transformation even if they blinked. Eline obviously missed the change of expression as she was busy texting back to her boss.
'Firstly You are not esteemed to be my boss. I missed the chance of being the team leader just because YOU decided to play a fucking prank on me'
' Now shut the fuck up and tell me what she told you when you were caught'
With that, Ashley replied her with a sullen look about the whole scene happened in the morning. Eline's eyes narrowed listening to him and she called Mark to know what happened at the mansion.
Meanwhile, Lyra is smirking like she's is a venomous snake ready to kill this Adam Parker guy with her venom. Her engaged aura cooled down a little bit and the darkness around her increased with the killer thoughts. She remembered that she needs to make her schedule clear for the mission. The amusement park trip with Leo came to her mind. She decided to take leo on the trip and fulfill his dreams.
"WHAT!!!?????"
The whole library beamed with Eline's voice. Everyone turned to her to know what happened for her to shout her lungs out. Lyra came out of her thoughts when she heard Eline scream from behind the bookshelf.
Eline quickly composed herself when she realised she screamed in the library. The library!!! Her eyes went wide after the realisation. She stood up from the spot where she has been sitting cross legged.
Eline apologised everyone who are present in there for the disturbance and lowered her head out of embarassment. She panicked when Lyra stood up from her seat and walked towards her. Hiding her mobile behind her back.
Lyra reached her with narrowed eyes. "What?"
"I saw a cockroach" she replied almost immediately.
"Do people shout 'what' when they see a cockroach instead of going 'Ahhh' in your town?"
" I panicked mam. I do things out of order when I'm scared or panicked. I'm sorry mam"
" Stop apologizing. Instead, focus on avoiding things that makes you apologise".
" I'm sorry mam. Oh. Okay mam. I'm sorry. No...I said sorry again sorry I won't repeat that again " Eline stuttered repeating the word 'sorry ' even after her boss told her not to say it. Lyra face palmed herself thinking she would never change and left from there shaking her head.
Eline closed her eyes in annoyance because of the dumbest reply she gave just now. Her face in the light shade of red when Lyra walked away.
She walked out of the library when Lyra nodded her head in approval when she said that needs some fresh air to come out of the terror of seeing a cockroach. As soon as she reached the end of the street far away from the library where Noone would find her, she took her phone out of her pocket aggressively and placed it on her ear.
"Hello? Sir are you there?" Eline asked the person on the phone.
"Yes" Mark replied.
"Could you please repeat what you said earlier?I think I misheard it"
"You heard that right Miss.Dawsey. she came to the mansion to fight with him. She took down four of our men individually. She even threatened to kill him twice. And in the end,they hugged"
"Holy heavens!!!!!! What the fuck!!!???"
" I couldn't say it like they hugged each other. It is more like our Boss hugged your Boss. He looked so comfortable in her embrace. But she looked rather dumbstruck. She was in a boxing position with her hands up in the air. I would bet on my life that it was so awkward for her"
" Okay sir that's enough. I have to go now. I'll update you if there's anything boss needs to know".
"Oh my goooood" Eline squealed suppressing her excitement in her fright of someone hearing her. She is an excited mess. She jumped in the spot where she was standing after cutting the call. Everyone looked at her like she's some mad woman.
She walked back to the library full of excitement with a wide smile on her face. Her eyes darted on to Lyra when she entered the store. Lyra was taking to the junior librarian about something. As Eline got close to them, she heard Lyra say "I'll be back by day after tomorrow to check up on the store. And will be returning after some days. So take care of everything".
"Are you going somewhere mam?"
"Yeah there's something I need to take care of. So I'm going to return after some days. You better behave".
" Mhnmm" Eline answered nodding her head.
" I will visit the store day after tomorrow. And I'll leave after that"
" Okay"
"....Why am I saying this to you?" Lyra asked her with a hint of confusion.
" Umm.....I don't know?!!"
" Anyways.... Let's get to our works"
They both went to their works for the day. At the evening, all the staff greeted Lyra a good evening and left when it's time to close the library. Eline too left with everyone else which was before Lyra locked the store and drove home in her SUV.
She reached the house parking her car and entered inside. Leo came to her running as soon as he heard door sound. She almost lost balance when he hugged her tightly. The action so fast that their hug made her move back a little due to force. She hugged him back and remebered the scene from morning. She sighed thinking ' I shouldn't let my emotions take over me. This anger is just for some time. I will surely take care of that pain in my ass next time'.
Leo let her go and said with excitement "Hello my sista!!!...I have something to show you!!! And I am so happy right now!!!"
With glittering eyes, she asked him. "what is it?"
"Remember when I said I have a presentation?"
And when she nodded her head, he continued "I got the first place in it!!!Aahhhhh" leo squealed controlling his happiness.
Lyra eyes twinkled like millions of stars seeing leo this happy. He is hpy from the bottom of his heart and she can bet her life on that. Because the way leo is jumping and squealing shows how much he is joyful about it. Lyra admired his happy gestures and grinning face.
"Okay as you're so happy about it, how about we celebrate your victory tomorrow?"
" Celebrate? How?" Leo asked stopping the jumping with a curious face.
"Would you like go to an amusement park?"
"WHAT!!!!REALLY??!!! oh my god. Vivi you don't know how happy I am right now. I always wanted to go to an amusement park with you. We can ride the rollercoaster, we can eat cotton candy, we can eat CAKE!!!! It's going to be so fun!!!!" Leo shouted at top his lungs running around the hall.
Lyra watched him go full energetic jumping and singing his own songs. 'You missed all your childhood because of that bitch. And now there's nothing in this world that would ruin this trip. I will bring your childhood back tomorrow bubs. I have been waiting for this moment since you opened up to me. And I will replace all your nightmares with happy memories'.
They finished dinner and went to their rooms as the night slips into midnight. Lyra stayed wake for an hour after closing the door of her bedroom thinking about the mission. But the energy inside Leo's room is full opposite. He couldn't sleep as his excitement and happiness are at peaks. They both managed to sleep after almost an hour as their body gave up because of tiredness. Slowly sliding down into their slumber.
